You won’t find a bunch of guys in muscle shirts walking around, dangling one-​gallon water jugs from their index fingers at Planet Fitness.
The price for basic work out membership is $ 10 dollars a month. And, if you pay just $ 20 dollars a month, you’ll receive their black card membership, which gets you unlimited savings – available at all of PF’s 1,000 national locations. If you travel and you don’t like working out at the often too crowed, hotel or local gyms, you will appreciate the black card membership!
I like to tan as well. There’s nothing better than after a hard workout to lay down or stand up in one of PF’s four our more tanning stations. And, your black card gives you unlimited, daily access to tanning, too! This is a little known secret that too few tanning folks don’t know about.
I used to have a monthly membership to Provo Recreation Center, which cost over $ 30 a month. I also had a monthly unlimited tanning membership at one of the moderately priced, local tanning salons. The tanning pass cost me $ 45 dollars a month. And the tanning machines at the salon were less intensity and older beds than what the Orem PF’s has. You do the math. I did and I figured out the savings and made the switch.
Black Card member pays a $ 10 start up fee, and a proceeding $ 19.99 a month for a minimum of 12 months. That will run you $ 249.88 a year, however it comes with a few enticing benefits. The Black Card membership has reciprocity at any location across the country — so working out during a beach vacation is a possibility. With the card, you are granted unlimited use of massage chairs and tanning beds, You also receive 50% discount on merchandise sold in the facilities. Did I also mention you have unlimited use of their hydro message tables too!
When I travel around the country I use PF and receive the same black card membership benefits any location I visit. It’s awesome. All locations honor black card memberships.
I encourage you to check Planet Fitness out. Try it out for one month and you will realize the benefits and you’ll be singing PF praise too.
4 out of 5 stars because in my mind 5 stars means totally perfect and the absence of indoor running track, racquet ball courts, basketball courts, swimming pool and spa makes PF a number 4 star experience. However, when I calculate the savings I have received in comparison of the absent offerings, I am sold on PF.

PLEASE READ MY FULL REVIEW! Everyone when signing up for this place please read ALL THE FINE PRINT yourself, with your own eyes. PLEASE DO NOT ask any of their employees how to cancel your pass or anything of that nature. I had a Black Pass and you are committed to a 1 year contract if you do not take it upon yourself to cancel (at a certain date), however I made the giant mistake of taking a couple of their employees words for it on how and when I am able to cancel my pass.
I have been a «loyal» member since 2012 and have paid every month, even when I moved out of the city and didn’t go anymore, I kept paying since I was still under the one year.
I tried to cancel my gym pass last year around June and I was told by one of their employees that I would have had to cancel it at the first of June next year. Since I missed that deadline I sucked it up and decided to keep paying for my pass I hardly used for another year. I was okay with this since it was my fault for not cancelling at the said date.
I called this week to cancel my pass and one of the employees had told me I would be able to cancel my pass no problem as long as I am able to send them a letter or come in person to do so before the 10^th of the month. However, I was charged about forty dollars as an annual membership fee on ⁶⁄₁.
Here is where I want EVERYONE to learn from my mistake.
I called the club to ask about this charge and since I was cancelling if I could get a refund since I waited until June to cancel under the advice of a couple of their employees and I had sent them a letter in the mail today. The employee told me it was non-​refundable and that I would have had to cancel on May 25 to not have been charged this fee. This was the first time anybody has told me this.
I asked to speak with their manager, they had a better look at my account and revealed to me that I was able to cancel my pass anytime without buyout fee or anything since 2013. Therefore, it is my fault that I didn’t take it upon myself to cancel before then and avoid this fee all together. I was shocked since my attempt to cancel my pass last year and I was told once again, by one of their employees that I missed the deadline and I would have to wait until the 1^st of June this year.
Of course, since it was a verbal conversation and it becomes this whole he said, she said situation I am not able to prove anything and the writing has always been there. All I wanted was to know if there was any way I could even just get my annual fee back since I was misinformed. They said it was nonrefundable and it was my fault for not reading the agreement and cancelling on time since I had the opportunity to do it this whole time!!!
I also called their corporate to see if they could do anything, and they said since this club is privately owned they can only send someone a complaint at most. I even stated the fact that their employees misinformed me and I had been paying for a pass I hardly used. I wish they were able to even seem like they wanted to help, I don’t think I was being unreasonable, I was only asking for a refund on the annual fee, not the monthly fees I paid the entire time I could have cancelled.
#1 If you want to cancel your pass and not be charged this annual fee make sure you do it by the 25^th of May! It says this on their website but like many people I just talked to someone since I made the mistake of thinking someone may actually want to help me.
#2 Make sure YOU are aware of your account status and membership status. I would talk to more than a couple people and a manager to make sure that your membership status is what it actually is. Not like me where I thought I was not able to cancel, however it turned out I was able to cancel for the last 2 years.
#3 Make sure to read everything and investigate everything YOURSELF. DO NOT rely on their employees to give you accurate information about your membership or your options to cancel. Also, if you have a conversation I would suggest recording your conversations with your video or voice recorder on the phone.

Love this gym. Always machines available, it’s clean and there’s tons of variety as far as weights. If you get the $ 20 a month plan you can enjoy the extras like the Hydro Massage (personal favorite), massage chair, tanning beds (no thank you) and there’s one other machine that uses lights (can’t remember exactly what type to help with muscles and skin).
Staff is friendly for the most part and the environment is chill, not too many gym bunnies bouncing around :)

Newer machines, super-​clean facilities, friendly staff. But the best part is the judgement-​free zone philosophy. Signs throughout the gym promote acceptance of everyone, regardless of fitness level or body shape. The staff are equally accepting.
I pay just $ 15 a month for all this. What a bargain! The only thing I would change is this: the staff turn off the TVs 10 minutes before closing, so if Im working out late, I miss the last 10 minutes of my favorite show. But besides this, these folks are awesome.

This is my local gym wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have been going here for 3 years now since they have opened and the employees are awesome to talk to and be around. They keep the place always clean and new. I hated going to Golds they never took care of anything. Go to a gym where you can enjoy your workout, and enjoy the environment couldn’t ask for anything better than this place!
