We went camping Memorial Weekend 2015 at River Road camping in Oregon, IL. It was 5 families with 8 toddlers between 5 and 1 years old. This was a great location, with our campsite having a fire pit right near the river the campground is named for. Best view in the 8 years this group has been camping! They did have other groups and owners in other parts of the campground but overall we were pleased with a number of things. First off, the view of the river is fantastic! We commented on it repeatedly. We set up our food tent to block our neighbors(who we pretty much didn’t see much, although Sat night they had a party going but it wasn’t too loud). The north woods can host up to 6 or 7 families with ease. We tent camped and while electricity would have been nice if only for our morning coffee via a power cord we survived the wknd without it.(perhaps something to ask for if we go back.) We didn’t play in the river water but would have used the in ground pool if it had been warmer. Firewood delivered to your site for a charge, which was nice. It wasn’t as secluded as we would have wanted but it certainly worked. I could see us considering in the future while the kids are was the cheapest of the places we considered this year too. 1 and ½ he drive from our SE DuPage county home, which came in handy when the third night had a tornado warning so we packed up early and came home. Not as busy as I imagine a place aimed at families with small kids would be, which we enjoyed.
