Worth The Visit Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and came away with pretty much an A-OK feeling about this restaurant. Scenery is amazing as well as the Landscaping. even at night the grounds are romantic and worth the visit for that alone. This is my second visit here, first time at night. Food is expensive, but the portions are pretty generous. The menu is focused and targets pretty much everyone’s cravings. I thought the food was loaded with heavy cream, butter lots of salt. Not that all restaurants don’t use these, but I feel it was a tad heavy(rich) here. I had the Penne Jambalaya it was ok like I said it was rich but lacked spice. I didn’t finish the dish, but didn’t take it home either. I also tried the Smoked Salmon Chowder.(it’s famous here) it was again, way rich and thicker than I expected, probably because the small potatoes that are part of this dish. All and All, the food was OK. Not great but not horrible. Helpful Tip~ share a dinner if you can. Easy on the pocket as well as calorie intake. Service is young and inexperienced, and it shows. My friend ordered a Hard Cider and it arrived in the bottle and with the bottle cap still on and when asked«can I please have this opened for me» the waiters reply was«isn’t it a twist off» BTW it wasn’t a twist off. but still this should not only have come opened but poured in the glass for the customer. right? The food took a long time to come out and usually I don’t mind but when my cocktails don’t come out. big faux pas for me, specially when the bartender wasn’t busy. Sorry for the long review and if you made it this far. I think it’s worth a visit. Sit outside for the view at HH or if you have dinner, share it.

I can’t speak for much of their food, but I have ordered the soup of the day three times and every single time(all different soups mind you) it has been the best soup of my life. I have no idea how they pulled that off but I continue to have soup fantasies on a regular basis. Thank you Stone Cliff.

The food was very good. However when we were short poured a shorter than the short 5oz wine — and the waiter knowing they short pour did not suggest to purchase a bottle I was disappointed. When I gently asked, saying I was embarrassed to even ask about the size of pour and would like an explanation he said that this way they get five glasses out of a bottle. ??? To add to that they didn’t ask if I wanted another(teeny) glass of wine. Took the luster out of the chefs meal. Worth another try someday but will order a bottle not a teeny glass.

This is my go to place for my birthday. The food is amazing. I turned 52 today. My husband took me there. The host is great! Very welcoming. I was starving. So we decided to sit at the bar as we waited for a table. I had my heart set on pan fried oysters. We were the only ones at the bar. On the bar stools. I think it threw the wait staff off. A waitress stated the bartender would be with us. Nice enough guy. Not warm or friendly at all. He ended up being our server. Again. Zero personality. Of course we always tip well. Regardless. No special Bday dessert was offered. Which I do not eat sugar. However the other tables around us were offered the dessert… But I would have given it to my husband. This was my go to place… however having a waiter with zero personality makes me not want to go back. I like keeping my biz local. Rethinking that concept.

Looks like a beautiful place to eat. Looks like the food would be good. Probably the drinks too! But after sitting and waiting for 10 minutes without service I left to eat elsewhere. Bummer.

We have been wanting to go here for a while, but, never had a chance until tonight when we went with a couple of friends. First of all, our waitress was amazing. Hilarious. A riot. She needs a raise. Secondly, the food was INCREDIBLE. Salmon Oscar=TODIEFOR. The Espresso Rubbed Rib Eye was mouthwatering. The Jambalaya was a tasty twist to a familiar dish and the cioppini was elegant and tasty. The desserts were fantastic and my waistline will hate me tomorrow! The water glasses could have definitely been filled more frequently(not our waitresses fault; there was a designated water boy) and having a slightly quieter environment would have made conversation easier(pretty sure the group next to us was at fault for that), but, it was a great experience and I can’t wait to go again! Oh! And setting reservations online is very convenient!

I dont know how i can be at the same restaurant as someone 8 hours ago and have a completely different experience but ours was excellent. Salmon oscar was delish, bet salad was great, my friends had the blue cheese encusted steak and we both had dessert mine, was the hazelnut mousse here’s was the bread pudding(I liked her desert better but nine was still yummy). Everything was cooked to perfection and our server Cody was the best. Everyone we came into contact with was good. Only thing that wasnt perfect was we waited like 5 – 7 min for our initial drink order but not a huge deal. The weather was outstanding for october ANDTHEVIEWISALWAYSGREAT. I love to ride my motorcycle out that way and if I’m meeting people who live in clackamas or oregon city I have them meet me there. Never disappointed. Enjoy!

The food is so so, not what you would expect for the high price. Stay away from any plate that offers cheese topping, they tend to dump and drown the plate rather than sprinkle the cheese on. The atmosphere of the log cabin and views are great, but thats the only thing that is. Honestly, I feel like you are just helping to pay their mortgage by buying an expensive view rather than enjoying their food because the quality of the food is subpar. Staff attentiveness is average, but seemed put-out if you have children(we have come with both our children and without and there is a definite difference in attitude). Ask for your bill in advance or expect to wait 30+ minutes for your bill, at least its been that way for us for the last 6 visits.

Everything we’ve had there is really good, great ambience, service is really good. Great lunch place in the summer. Would get 5 stars but a bit pricey for dinner.

We have ate here several times. Nice for a dinner date or lunch on the patio with family or friends when the weather is nice. Have always received timely, friendly service. The restaurant has a nice view and ambience. We have ate a little of everything on the menu: fish, sandwiches, salads, and steak. All delicious! Plus it is a location where part of the Twilight movie was filmed(if that’s your thing) not really ours, but it was neat to see. I highly recommend eating here!

Hard not to like Stone Cliff… especially with the location but it’s starting to resemble Stickmen in Lake Oswego — great location but marginal food & service. Now you can add terrible customer response to feedback to the list. We’ve been coming to Stone Cliff for several years. Food has never been stellar or anything but it’s certainly been good enough when you add the outdoor seating experience there. My wife is a calamari nut and has always like SC’s version with the veggies in there too. Unfortunately even that has gone down hill considerably. About a month ago we were brought a plate of calamari that was so overly fried that even our waitperson(a girl) admitted that she recognized that it looked awful but for some unknown reason she still brought it out, served it to us and then waited for us to say something before taking it away and bringing another one. A few weeks later we gave it another shot and the pic illustrates what we received. This is the happy hour version but still a $ 7 item. Do you see any calamari in there? It’s there among the many many carrots, sweet potatoes and artichokes but you have to look close because it was by far the least represented item. Don’t get me wrong… we love the additional items but would prefer that when we order«calamari» that the majority of what we get is actually calamari. I took the time to send a nice but honest message to both the GM and 2nd in command at SC… crickets several weeks later. I cam only assume they don’t care so we no longer care to visit SC. Sad.

Ribeye cooked to order… delicious. Also great Cesar and salmon chowder. Would recommend to come here food is good. Atmosphere is also chill not too classy and definitely not trashy. On the way here you pass some shady bars– keep driving and don’t stop on the way!

Called on FRI6⁄19. «Brian» answered the phone promptly at 11ish AM. I asked if it was possible to make reservations for Father’s Day, 6⁄21. He said«certainly, when would you like to come it? I asked for 2pm, said it would be no problem, asked to be seated on the deck. We arrived on SUN at 1:45… Hostess seated us promptly on the deck overlooking the Clackamas River. Our waiter(jesse) stopped by shortly there after(1:55pm) and took out drink order. He returned shortly with our drinks and asked if we’d had a chance to look over the menu. I told him no, we were waiting on 2 others and it would be about 15min. He said: Well, we’re closing at 2pm and will reopen at 4pm for dinner. I explained that nothing about that had been mentioned when I made the reservations for 2pm. He stated that if we had the orders in soon we’d be ok. He intimated that we should get ahold of our guests & give him their orders ahead of time. I think he sensed that I was going to be «difficult» and kind of stayed away. Fortunately my son & Grandson arrived in about 10 min, or less. We simply proceeded at our usual speed and Jesse did not appear impatient. Unfortunately, Hearing that the restaurant is going to close 10 min. after you arrive early for reservations 2pm, is just not what you want to hear! I would sincerely suggest that Mgmt. make it known to ALL staff taking reservations EXACTLY what the restaurants hours will be for any given day. There food is very good: at our table we had several appetizers, salmon chowder, a turkey BLT, Crab Benedict and 1 plain pancakes for the Grandson. We were all happy with our food and our waiter turned out to be a joy… after the initial shock of being told the restaurant was closing. IMHO this was totally the fault of mgmt in communicating with the staff; don’t let anyone answer the phone who doesn’t know the exact program for the upcoming days.

My family and I were at Stone Cliff last night(Mother’s Day) for dinner. I am going to break this down and address each category separately: Food/Prices: 2 Service: 2 Ambiance/Setting: 5 Lets start with customer service: The wait-staff was fine(4-stars). It’s the hostesses(0-stars!) that need some work. I called on a Wednesday to make reservations. I asked if the patio was going to be open and I was advised to call back on Friday to confirm and request a spot on the deck. I did however, make my reservations for 5 people for 4:30PM for Sunday(3 adults &2 children) during the first initial call. I called back on Friday(as advised) and my reservation was NOT recorded. I told the girl exactly who I spoke with AND I made ANOTHER reservation upon my 2nd call –same time/same day. When we arrived on Mother’s Day — at 4:30PM as requested 2 times prior — I was told there was no reservation under my name. I was given the 3rd degree as to when I called and when I had made my reservations. The hostess said it would be a few minutes but would make sure that we got a table. After 10 minutes, the hostess came over and stated that I was scheduled for a 6:15PM seating… I told her that is not going to work and I had called and I couldn’t wait until then, as I had a 4&6 year old to feed. She took us out to the patio and somewhat apologized for THEIR errors. I feel if you are a «fine» dining house, you’d better have your front end staff better prepared and trained properly!!! Food/Prices: OK, the prices are pretty high for the quality that you’re getting. I had the duck breast with butternut squash raviolis $ 29. The portion size was OK on this dish. I prefer to have my duck skin crispy and with the fat rendered. Mine was not that way. The raviolis were tasty — sweet & smooth texture. The«sauce» that was over the duck/raviolis DIDNOTCOMPLIMENT this dish at all. There were BITTER greens served under this entrée with roasted garlic and pumpkin seeds. The bitterness of the greens and the pungent garlic completely overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the duck & raviolis and threw the entire flavor of the dish off. My mom had the Salmon Oscar. The salmon was overcooked and dry. The mashed potatoes were too salty. The portion size was nice and the other seafood that accompanied the salmon was fine. My husband had the ribs with sweet potato fries. The portion size was nice, the flavor was good the presentation wasn’t anything exciting. The kids menu is just plain SAD! Seriously, offer a fish dish — NOTKRAFTMAC&CHEESE and canned orange slices. Even Sweet Tomatoes makes FRESHMAC&CHEESE!!! And if you are going to charge $ 6 for Kraft Mac & Cheese, at least give me the entire $ 0.99 box. SERVEFRESHFRUIT, too! PLEASE!!! The desserts: I ordered the bread pudding, my mom ordered the crème brulee — both portions large enough to share with the entire table. Both desserts were tasty — my biggest complaint is THEYUSEDKOOLWHIP as there«whipped cream». WAIT? WHAT? Yes, you are reading this correctly — KOOLWHIP! I have absolutely HATED Kool Whip ever since I was 4. I hate the texture, I hate the flavor and I hate the smell… SO I KNOWWHATTHECRAPIS and TASTESLIKE… You cannot fool this gal. My 6 year old made a point of saying«REALLY??? Even McDonalds and Starbucks use REAL whipped cream, mom!!!» She even dropped it in her water glass and made the observation that it didn’t even melt!!! Why go to all the trouble of making beautiful and serving desserts if you’re just going to top them with FAKE whipped cream products… The Ambiance: No explanation needed. The patio setting is gorgeous… Even the view from the dining room was beautiful. The drive up was beautiful, too. One of the biggest complaints of the whole experience is the fact that I ordered a beer and the glass had a huge chip taken out of it. I didn’t know there was a chip in the glass when I took a drink. The sharp edge of the glass cut the corner of my mouth. I told our waiter — he took the beer away — said he would take care of it and the manager even came over to apologized and commented«It’s not a party unless someone goes home bleeding!!!». Naturally, I thought they would have«COMPTED» one beer — they didn’t. I guess it’s a good thing none of the wait-staff spilled anything on me –or– had a hair in my food!!! My lip was bleeding for goodness sake — it wasn’t supposed to be a joke«Mr. Manager-guy»!!! All in all, I think I would go back for a special event — but not a regular go-to place. I have eaten better for a lot less money, too.

After a long weekend of yard work we went for dinner here last night with some friends. I was happy to see the place wasn’t completely packed this sunny Sunday evening as it was the first really nice weekend this spring. We hadn’t been here for over ten years and the last time we went we certainly weren’t impressed at all either to come back or to even make it on a list of restaurants we might return to. I am sure glad we came back. Service was great! The food was great! I had the cherry smoked pork ribs and they were fantastic. We will be back.

The good: Beautiful grounds, lovely building, great view. They tolerated the mobile toddler well and she had a lot of room to safely run outside on the deck that was empty for winter. The OK: Ok service. The bad: Meh food. High prices. I think it would be ideal to come here for lunch or just drinks. I had salmon Oscar and the hollandaise was a cold semi-solid dollop on top of my salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked but the hollandaise was frankly yucky. This place is a bit of a drive. Doubt I would go out of my way again.

As usual, Stone Cliff Inn was amazing. We went for dinner and enjoyed the ambiance, food and time with friends. The food was amazing, it was fun to see the chefs cook just a few steps away from our table. The service was great and we had a wonderful time. We love to come in the summer and sit out on the deck enjoying the beer and view. If you haven’t tried the wings, you MUST. I also recommend the Linen red blend wine at $ 35.00/bottle. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu — and we’ve had most of it. Enjoy!

One word: Rustic Two words: Beautiful view Three words: Delicious comfort food Four words: Twilight was filmed here This is where I would want to spend all my birthday dinners going forward — if they were in the summer — because the deck and the view are so fantastic. We discovered it on my brother’s birthday, on the tail end of summer. Lucky devil, got to spend his 40th dining outside and taking in a phenomenal view of a river snaking through the forest. It’s a bit of a drive, but I’m guessing the lodge-restaurant is gorgeous around Christmas time. That would totally make it worth the distance. The food is a tad on the spendy side for my parents, who usually just go where they can use their senior discount, but we all got salads with salmon and beers and had a lovely meal. Behind the parking lot are hiking trails. This is where scenes from Twilight were filmed. That alone is enough for a Twihard like me show up. Not to hike, mind you. The trails look a bit advanced for someone like me… but the mossy rocks and cliff are a sight to be seen. Our wait staff was also very pleasant and service was fast. Add to that free parking and there isn’t a single downside. Only a steep drive up. This is definitely somewhere you have to try… and return to for special occasions… or any occasion.
