The service was perfect. The store was clean, most friendly and comfortable. The ice cream was lacking in smoothness, creaminess and especially flavor. At nearly $ 5 for a scoop(all be it a generous one), the flavor should be something just short of an explosion. I considered the flavor of this product(Root Beer Marble) to be more of a token, not fulfilling the promise of the enticing names and descriptions. I also tried a free sample of chocolate/bacon fudge. Again, lacking in flavor. I could not taste anything like bacon. A piece of fudge about 2 inches square and ½ inch thick was $ 5. Would have worth it if the taste was there.

Great ice cream, even better atmosphere — although our kids love this place, my wife and I secretly like to sneak over here on date nights for a delicious dessert!

Great flavorful ice cream. This is not your typical ice cream place. It is great. The kids loved it. I thought it was delicious.

This is a must to. Is it in Santa Maria. My most favorite flavor is merlot. I never have anything like this in so cal. I had merlot, pecan praline and orcutt crunch. A large size is only $ 5.50. Valerie is very nice and attentive.

Thank you Kelli for making this trip great for my family and friends who traveled from out of town. Your customer service is fantastic! My friends will definitely be back next time they are down for a visit. As far as the ice cream, this is the best place to go!!!

Mixed feelings. I applaud their brave new flavors and that they have created a new ice cream brand in the central coast area. On the other hand, there are better California-created ice creams out there. I find their ice creams to be a little on the milky side, which gives them a crunchier texture than McConnells of Santa Barbara, or Baskin Robbins. BR has lost touch with its roots a bit, but was established in Glendale, CA. The waffle cones are delicious. And the atmosphere is cute with the historic photos of old Orcutt. depending on which way you look, Orcutt doesn’t seem to have changed all that much.

Spent nearly $ 20 for two dipped single scoop waffle cones. It’s not worth the hype, sorry.

I was in town for business and needed an ice cream fix. Unilocal puts on its cape and saves me! It’s definitely a mom & pop shop, so you know I’m all in. I arrived about 15 minutes before closing and was greeted warmly and allowed multiple samples. I ended up with two scoops of heaven in a cup. The ice cream itself was amazing. Rich and creamy but not too sweet. I was hooked from the first sample in a mini spoon. I paid $ 5.50, which isn’t that expensive especially compared to McConnell’s or Cold Stone. It’s worth every penny — especially since you’re supporting a small business. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in town.

The icecream tastes so wonderfully creamy and rich, right amount of sweetness, it’s just sooo good. My boyfriend and I got the waffle bowl with 2 huge scoops, turned out to be something around 8 bucks but it was worth it. I loved the banana flavor, it didn’t taste like it was artificially flavored, so good.

Great place on central coast for ice cream. Wonderful selection of ice cream. My favorite which they should name Steve ’ s is the motor oil. Steve ’ s motor oil is the best. Need to come and enjoy.

Sweet ice cream but sour service. I would like to apologize to the employees here for inconveniencing them with my presence. I came in a little late maybe 8:45 so there was still some time before closing. I get that people in the service industry like to leave at closing time, rather than be actually open until closing. I understand that completely… shut the place down by all means. The employee made me and my company feel completely uncomfortable. It was clear she didn’t want anyone to bother her with orders. Some word of advice to your employees. That sundae could be the 94th you’ve made today — it could be entirely meaningless to you. To the customer it could be the one thing they have been looking forward to all day. Respect the customer, they will return. I can get better service in Arroyo Grande I hope.

I’ve withheld writing a review of Bernstein’s because this is a mom n pop shop in a great location. The shop is cute and entertaining to children because there is fully operating toy train running along the ceiling. There is also a whole host of interesting ice cream flavors like«Orcutt Crunch.» I am not a fan of this place overall though because I don’t much like the ice cream, actually. Each time I’ve been here I am disappointed with the taste. I am, however, highly critical of ice cream. The reason I give this place two stars is because of the horrible experience I had tonight, Sunday evening, April 19th2015. My party of three entered fifteen minutes before closing and it was obvious that the assistant manager, Amanda, wanted to leave as soon as possible. She made us feel like a timer was ticking as we ordered. There was also no water left in the water dispenser. She kicked us out rudely as well. I really wanted that ice cream but withheld ordering any because of her.

A bit pricy but, great ice cream! So many flavors and ways to have it served. I also love that they have ice cream for your dogs, such a fun treat for the furkids. I’ve always had a pleasant experience here.

Pretty simple, really: a nice variety of ice cream flavors, served by a friendly team, and the facility is always clean. Throw in a quick toot of the horn when a tip is received(come on folks, u have to leave a Buck or two for the employees!), and a glance at the model train riding the rails above your head, and you can’t help but like this place. Lastly, it’s in Old Town Orcutt, which makes a great small town that much better! Cheers! RS
