Tonys is my absolute favorite deli around. the food is great and owners are even greater! I work at Starbucks and from time to time we order Tony’s and he delivers it in record time and the food is always fresh and hot. Tony is such a sweet hard working man! Much respect for this place.

Outa the ballpark! If you truly love old fashioned delicatessens, Tony’s is the place for you. My wife tends to like the more chi-chi places down the street near Orchard Lake & Maple, or Telegraph & Maple, but they are pretenders. If you want chi chi décor, go to one of those. They’ll charge you for it, too. If you want the BESTDELISANDWICHES, go to Tony’s. Best corned beef. Best matzo ball soup. Great breakfasts. All at a reasonable price. Their ruebens, etc., are not inedibly stacked to the ceiling like some of the well known places in Manhattan, but are a VERY good size, and delicious. Not sure where they get their corned beef, pastrami, etc.(maybe they do their own in the back?), but I’m highly doubtful that it’s the bafflingly popular Sy Ginsberg variety. Better. Right balance between lean and just a teensie bit of fat for juicy flavor. Their matzo ball soup is the best I’ve ever had, although I admit to not usually being a huge matzo guy. Theirs is worth the trip, however. Even my matzo-crazed wife admits theirs is the best. One of the things I really like about Tony’s is that they offer a half sandwich/cup of soup option, so I can get a little of both. Oh, that reminds me, their cabbage soup is also out of this world — rivals my sainted Mother’s! They also have Dr. Brown’s sodas — BONUS! If you are looking for a spot with lots of kitsch or upscale«atmosphere,» keep on driving. For the best, reasonably priced deli food in metro Detroit, go to Tony’s.

Nice huge deli sandwiches here. I got the«Coach Monte Clark’s favorite #18», corned beef, Swiss, Russian, coleslaw on rye. I figured it was a good omen because my late father was friends with the man. My wife had a stomach ache earlier in the day so she just got matzo ball soup and potato pancakes. Her soup wasn’t as good as I remember it was from when this place was Embers, matzo ball was fluffy and I prefer dense, plus the soup was full of noodles for some reason. Isn’t it supposed to be just broth, veg and matzo balls? Anyways, my sandwich was killer. It was huge and delicious. The coleslaw was crisp and fresh etc… I was even able to take half home for later, which is always a bonus. Love those old dill pickles :-)

I got the corn beef sandwich with Russian dressing, coleslaw and swiss cheese. I was really craving one. The bread was the best part. The corn beef was really fatty. The proportion of meat and cheese compared to the bread was not right at all. For the cost and the fattiness of the corn beef, I won’t go back.

Heading to a local concert and stopped at Tony’s to grab a quick lunch. When we walked in, the seating area was empty, but it was 2pm and they closed at 3. Food was wonderful! Grilled chicken pita was huge, pita bread was more of a homemade fry bread… Delicious. French toast was made with thick slices of Challah bread… Would have liked an option of real maple syrup, but very good. Never had Kreplach soup before, but dumpling tasted homemade. Daughter really liked it. Soup came with a half grilled Reuben — I’ve never seen so much meat on a sandwich– had to eat it with a fork! Great homemade thousand island on the side. There were at least 8 takeout orders while we were eating, and one gentleman was raving about the food they made for his graduation party! It was a pleasant surprise for a last minute dining spot!

Tony’s is the gold standard of deli restaurants. The quality of the meats and hand cut breads for the sandwiches are amazing. The portions are more than generous and you can order party trays that are custom built with your favorite meats, cheese and deli salads. Did I mention the soup, potato pancakes and matzoh balls that are the best in the city? Eat in or carry out with service that is fast and friendly. Tony is there behind the counter. Our family never passed up an opportunity to order from Tony’s!

Great sammies. My coworkers & I always look forward to lunch day at Tony’s. They have a great vegetarian sammie with all of the same stuff as the corned beef, just without the corned beef, that is awesome. The bread is also a crucial part of what makes it good.

If you want a quality sandwich. this is the place. I love the super stacked rubens made with cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. The bread is the best !!! They treat you right. I love eating at Tony’s.

A bit of a dive diner. I came her by accident once, looking to try a new local restaurant. This place is so under-rated!!! This place has some of the BEST Reuben sandwiches in metro Detroit and about $ 4 cheaper than Stage, Steve’s or Deli Younique! I always stop here when I’m visiting from out of town!

Probably the best deli food I’ve ever had! The bread on my sandwich was awesome and the french fries were to die for! Our waitress seemed genuinely happy with what she was doing and she was proud of the product that came out of the kitchen. She even let us try some of the mushroom barley soup before deciding on getting it to make sure we liked it. Everything seemed to be home-made and with fresh ingredients. Delicious! We will definitely be back!

Nice«diner» type spot. On the edge of orchard lake and west Bloomfield. Try the dinty Moore with slaw and Swiss, delicious. Would recommend to others in the area. The bet deli in Michigan hands down is still the French laundry in Fenton.
