The hotel, café, and restaurant are all excellent. Been coming here for years and have not been dissappointed yet. Impeccable staff, location, and food selections. Quality that is open year round.

Being right across the street from the ferry terminal, we found it to be a suuuuper conveniant location, with easy parking too. Upon arriving we were told that our room was upgraded to a queen with a private bath and a view of the ferry dock. So that was a nice and very welcoming surprise! The lady at the front desk kindly showed us to our room, which was tickled with vintage pink accents, pretty lace lamps, and a gorgeous view of the sound, ferry boats, and an endless sailboat renegade. The blasting sounds of canon balls from the top deck initiating the start of the race was a bit of a shocker, but somehow seemed appropriate for the occassion. During our afternoon nap, sounds of cheering and laughter from the café below our room was kind of nice. It was comforting and felt like home in a way. Felt even more like home waking up to the smell of bacon the next morning. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time during our stay here! The staff was super friendly. Doug, the owner, was great and took a lot of time to talk to us as if we were friends. He was very genuine, and you can tell he is a hard worker! The place is old and quaint, but well kept. Restaurant had great food, and the café as well. We enjoyed the small town feel, and even met some fun people to chat with at dinner. It was a fun experience! The only downfall was insulation, we could hear our neighbors. To be expected though in an older place.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We splurged and reserved the Killebrew Lake room for the jacuzzi tub and balcony. The website doesn’t mention that the balcony is not private. There is a public access point to the side. After we checked in, we observed several children running around directly in front of our room on the balcony. Not cool. The deck furniture were also dirty. The carpet/furnishings in the room were more worn and dirty looking than online pictures suggest. The room came with TV but we could only access religious/home shopping channels and some infomercial for the Carol Burnett Show box set. Totally weird. What’s the point of having a TV? No one wants to watch that crap. Ferry noise wasn’t an issue because the ferries don’t run late at night. Overall, I thought the room was overpriced. Definitely not a «splurge experience» for what I consider to be a lot of money for a hotel room. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Wow, this is an amazing hotel. 1) It was easy to get to. It is right near the Orcas ferry terminal. It is so close that you can walk there. 2) We checked in late and there was no staff to check us in. There was a slight mix up in the room booking. We were given a smaller room without a bathroom even though we had originally booked one with a bathroom. However, we were able to find someone to help us, even though it was after hours. They were so incredibly nice and apologized for the mix up. At some places, they won’t even apologize and act indignant for making the mistake. Instead, both the front desk person and owner(Doug) personally apologized. They fixed the mistake really fast too. 3) The rooms were really clean and our room had this spectacular view. We were in room 5. There is a partial bath(no shower) but that was okay because the view of the bay was amazing. I loved gazing out. Surprisingly, each room has a tv. I liked that our room had a journal where guests could write notes to future guests. The rooms also captures a lot of old history. You can look at the old photographs and cute country/historic décor. 4) Staff was amazing. Doug spent about 20 minutes sitting down with us giving us tips on what we could do in the area. I really appreciated his friendliness. He certainly made us feel welcome. 5) Food was great. The downstairs breakfast/café was amazing. We had the Mainlander and Basic breakfast and both were simply delicious. We’ve had Tom Douglas’s Serious Pie and Biscuits before and it was nothing compared to the biscuits we had here. The gravy was thick, creamy and had a lot of sausage. The biscuits were also nice and fluffy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing you have to be prepared for are the thin rooms. Staying on the third floor, we could hear the person below us enjoying themselves too much. We heard a woman moaning really loudly around midnight. We thought it was hilarious. Just keep in mind that the walls are pretty thin.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We stayed in the Killbrew Lake room and just fell in love with it. The Orcas Hotel is a lovely 110 year old facility with Victorian charm. The staff made us feel at home and welcome. If you are looking for a chain hotel with all of the bells and whistles, then this is not your place. However, if you are looking for a quiet, friendly, clean, and charming atmosphere then this is your place. The restaurant was equally as wonderful. We recommend the Orcas Hotel without reservation! We will be back!

The stuff are very friendly. They took my reservation right in the same day of my arrival. I lived on the top floor. A black woman helped me to clean my room from the previous guest. And she adviced me how to use the key and the shared bathroom:)

We stayed here again on another Groupon and found it very comfortable. The décor is charming, and my one complaint is that it doesn’t seem possible to control the thermostat in the room. Well, and the wifi is unreliable, but we didn’t stay there to get online

We stayed in Octavias closet which was very comfortable and convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was good as well. Taking off once star because it was a tad expensive, although most things on any island tend to be that way.

We had our wedding at Orcas Hotel this summer and it was absolutely perfect! Doug, his staff and the chef are out of this world amazing. First I should warn you that I was a little particular about the wedding, location, and food. I work in the industry and have done 100’s of weddings which makes me a little picky with a ton of ideas, and well, pinterest doesn’t help either. We ended up checking out over 30 venues before we found Orcas Hotel. Once we visited the hotel and spent time with Doug we knew instantly that this was the place. It was so perfect, and beautiful, warm and inviting and we knew our friends and family would love it. An additional part we loved was that we could rent out the whole hotel. So we did, for 2 days, that way all of our family and bridal party could stay on the island, relax and enjoy the beautiful hotel and location. Doug was so nice and accommodating with all my ideas, he offered great suggestions and really spent time with us to make sure we had the best day of our lives. All of our guests were blown away with the whole day. The service was amazing and the food was out of this world delicious. Our friends still talk about the day, and say it is the best wedding they have ever been too. I also hear all about the amazing potato sides, salmon and filet we had, as well as the great local wine. I am so thankful because I know each anniversary we get to go back and hang out at Orcas Hotel. Thank you for everything, you really made our day the best ever :) Orcas Hotel rocks!

Friendly, professional staff. Charming, quaint rooms. Great food at both café and bistro. Low prices. What more could you want? Maybe a little less noise, but for the price, it was great! We were even upgraded for free and we didn’t have to ask for it.

If you’re familiar with the Outlook Inn in Eastsound, the Orcas Hotel has much the same flavor. I don’t like Orcas Hotel as much though because it’s right off the ferry dock — tons of horns honking(car horns and ferry horns) at all hours of the day. Some people like that though… The hotel is nice, with that quaint atmosphere that many people love. Very homey and clean and comfy. Cozy little dining room. But I don’t think I’d stay there again just due to it being so close to the harbor. I prefer the Outlook and some of the other places out in Eastsound, and Moran State Park area.

This place is great! The rooms are really cute and some have amazing views. The café and the restaurant Octavia’s were both delicious! The staff is really friendly as well. The only complaint I have is that our room was above the café. And on Sundays they serve breakfast as early as 6−7am so it was hard to sleep in! But their free breakfast(offered with a room) totally made up for it. I look forward to planning another trip to this destination.

We can not wait to stay here again! Such a beautiful vintage hotel. The history is very rich throughout the hotel. Lots of fun games and puzzles for both kids and adults in the parlor as well as two restaurants to choose from for dinner. Both with lots of options, even if you are a vegan or have a gluten allergy like I do. The staff was vey helpful and let us check in an hour early so we did not have to wait. We stayed in the blind island hotel. The view was not the best, but was the least expensive($ 89) a night. The room was vey clean and even had movies we could choose from for no extra charge. It is also conveniently located right across the street from the whale watch tour we were going to. My boyfriend and I will definitely be stay here again!

Once more, I found myself stuck waiting around for a ferry on a Sunday, with the Orcas Hotel Café as my only practical choice for dinner. On this visit, I found things to be much improved. The service was still grudging, but the food was noticeably better. The baked goods were particularly good; my daughter had a raspberry scone that was really tasty. My wife’s sandwich came with a surprisingly good house made blackberry BBQ sauce. The evil clam chowder from my previous visit was nowhere to be seen.

So sweet! The hotel was built at the turn of the century and has period wall paper, furnishings, and linens. There is a large parlor and a restaurant with great views, plus a wraparound porch. We stayed in the jacuzzi suite which had a balcony with a nice view of the water(and the ferry, but hey it’s not there that often). The front yard is full of rabbits and consequently really, really excited kids. The jacuzzi is topped by a hilarious frame that says«the walls are thin: please abstain from noisy use of the hot tub after hours» which was a really funny, non-hostile way to convey that delicate message. They have a bunch of board games in the upstairs hallway or if you prefer the rooms come standard with free wifi and cable television. I heard from several people that there isn’t cell phone service on the island, but I got perfect service inside the hotel. Literally steps from the ferry and the well-stocked grocery store. The breakfast in the café downstairs was good — really nice fresh bread and homemade English muffins and jam. The server was a total hippie who needed some nudges to stay on track but in the end she got the job done. I wish they would switch out the Starbucks for some local coffee — I got tea instead.

LOVED this small, intimate & cozy hotel! You have to stay here when visiting Orcas Island! First of all the staff are all SUPER nice & helpful and are so attentive to what you want or may need. They tell you everything you may need to know(breakfast times, locations, where to find anything you may need, etc). We loved it here, sure it’s small and the walls are thin and it’s not a resort but the perks are WAY bigger: the view is 100% AMAZING, the food in their restaurant downstairs«Octavios» is 5 star, the breakfast is SO much better than a resort that gives you Costco meals, and the staff are available anytime to make your stay on just at the hotel but o the island so much better! I’m glad we stayed here, and will be back many more times! Most of the rooms you have to share a bathroom, or you can ask for a room with your own bathroom. If you stay in rooms 14 or 15 you get a jacuzzi and balcony and in the summers this is a super great idea to book! Don’t know if there is wifi here, we weren’t really concerned about that as we used our data plans. Parking is conveniently outside and the hotel is situated 2 steps away from the ferry!

Without a doubt the saddest bowl of clam chowder to be found in all of the northwest. Instead of the usual rich and creamy goodness one expects with this dish patrons can look forward to a bowl consisting mostly water and more corn than clams. In fact there was no clam to be found … in either taste or the strangely rubbery morsels. It tasted as if someone in the kitchen said«Uh oh! We are out of cream, milk, flour, butter and clams. I don’t know if I can make clam chowder today… unless… « If this Clam Chowder was a beer — it would be a warm flat can of Hamms on a hot summer day. If this Clam Chowder were a comedian — It would be Carrottop without props performing for a bunch of seniors. If this Clam Chowder were a state of mind — it would be in serious need of some prozac and zoloft. Your better bet is to go to the deli right next to where the Ferry docks and grab some sandwiches and chips.
