I’ve been here quite a few times, and I always enjoy it. The food is tasty, and service is generally good. They can get very very crowded, though, and the inside can get very loud, so I usually sit on the patio. I love their lamb burger, the mac-n-cheese, and the truffle fries, although it is a little on the pricy side, particularly for somewhere that caters to Chapman University students. Free wifi, clean bathrooms, and a very large selection of beers and ciders.

I thought the food here was average. The service was good, as Mason frequently checked up on us. We ordered the pork shoulder croquettes($ 9) as an appetizer and for the entrée the haven burger which comes with fries($ 18) + $ 2 for the truffle fries. The croquettes was good, you get 3 pieces and it’s pulled pork in a fried ball, wasn’t bad, tasted like a taco. The haven burger was average to me. They used some sort of blue cheese that made the burger really bitter. Its big enough to split with two people, they give you a ton of fries too. I was disappointed to see that they brought us out water with large amounts of coffee grinds in it.

First time here on a Tuesday night after work. Greg is the bartender to go to. I’m a whiskey drinker so I’ve only drank old fashioneds for the time I’ve been here and Greg takes a lot of care and effort preparing them. Definitely recommended and I’ll be here again.

Went there for drinks on Friday night, 6÷24÷16. Yes, it’s loud, but the place is alive! Our server, Brian, was fantastic. I like that everyone on staff brings out the drinks as soon as they’re ready. His beer recommendations were spot-on. 2nd time there & we’ll definitely go back.

I went for lunch. The salad with bacon wrapped prawns have the best mixture of health and explosion of flavor. Add the extensive list of beers I have never tried. It is worth the visit. The staff was attentive. Guy was my bartender. I will be back for more items that I have never had.

Seriously one of my favorite spots, I’m there way too often. Food and drinks are great, I’ve never been disappointed. Everything is clean, service is quick, staff is friendly, they have been accommodating with reservation changes. It does get a little loud when it’s crowded at night, but you can sit out on their patio if you want it to be more mellow. Great vibe inside! I always like the music that’s playing. Favorite things on the menu: Pretzel, Donuts, Shaved Vegetable Salad with Skirt Steak, Italian Sausage Flat Bread, Burger, Mac & Cheese, Fries… actually everything lol. Clearly, I’m a big fan… try it out, you will be too.

This place has excellent food and beer! We had the beef cheek Pom frites with cheese curd. It was a perfectly balanced bouillon sauce with red wine, dill and rosemary. I have never had one quite that balanced. The Mac and cheese was great. The beer selection had beers that can be difficult to come by. It was nice to see SKA brewing on the menu amongst others. Only problem was that our waitress was inconsiderate. I noticed others posted similar things about being misled by pricing. I would suggest to just clarify everything before you order it. I would be willing to give 5 stars if we had not encountered this problem.

Gastro pub, right gastrointestinal issues from this place. Beware of the menu and pricing. Heirloom tomato, a half of a tomato and 5 slices of skirt steak $ 34, ouch. Could have sworn it said the salad with the steak $ 20. $ 14 for the half of a tomato and an additional $ 20 for the steak. I could have had an entire Wagyu steak for $ 26. The waitress had no empathy at all and seemed to giggle about it with the other staff members.

I’m giving this place two stars because the food was good but not great, the restaurant gets quite loud when it’s full, and we were charged more than the menu prices. We came here on a Sunday afternoon. The place wasn’t packed when we got there but it got very full midway through our meal. Parking was easy, as we found a spot in the parking lot(free parking) behind the restaurant. As more and more people came into the restaurant the place got very loud, to the point that we were yelling in order to hear what the other one was saying. We ordered the Hefeweizen beer. It’s from a bottle, which is not my preference but it tastes really tart and light. We ordered the short rib tacos and the lamb burger. The tacos were good and the flavors went very well together. But the meat was in chunks and we wish they had shredded the beef a little more. The lamb burger was juicy and flavorful. The only complaint is that the fries it came with were soggy and wilted. I like my fries crunchy. The garlic and rosemary sprinkled on top was good but tasted more like a winter-y/Christmas-y flavor. Once the waiter handed us the bill I immediately noticed that he overcharged us for our meals. I figured maybe I was originally looking at an old menu with old prices. So I went up to the host, he randomly selected one of the menus from the stack and sure enough, the prices on that menu were lower than what we were charged. I brought it to the waiter’s attention and he said that the menus were old and the prices have changed. Last time I checked, a business establishment is obligated to post the right prices for its goods and services. Our waiter talked to the manager and they adjusted our receipt to match the menu prices, but not without him repeating again that the menus we were looking at have to be reprinted. That’s not my problem, dude!

Great location in Old Town Orange. Came with a few friends on a late Saturday afternoon. We sat down at a table inside the restaurant but we were asked to move because it was reserved. We didn’t see the little reserved paper in the middle of the table, our bad. They were totally nice about it. We moved over to the bar until we realized there was a free table outside on the patio. It was a lovely day out so why not? Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered some beers, a few burgers and the mac and cheese. We were starving because we had just come from a beerfest. The basic cheeseburger was about $ 18 though, which is a bit pricy. The portion size was decent. The mac and cheese was small for $ 7. Nonetheless, the food and service was fair. The fries and spicy mayo sauce on the side were bomb.

Great find just off the circle in Old a Town Orange. A few tables outside, grabbed one about 6:30. By time we left, there were people waiting, so get there early on weekend night, you won’t be disappointed. Service was fantastic with Gina taking control when we arrived, and seamless transition to Brie and back when Gina took a dinner break. Really nice menu of craft beer drafts and bottles, with every major type covered by an offering. There is also a very nice wine and spirits offering, head and shoulders above most places I’ve seen. The food menu was enticing with items for anyone’s palate. We tried both the truffle fries(not overly«truffled» as some places are want to do), and the Brussels sprouts. Both were excellent and good size for appetizer sharing. In fact, I’d say a party of 4 could share those two plates. For main course, I went with Halibut, which had just been added to menu, and my friend ordered the Denver steak. Both were cooked to perfection. It ended up being about $ 60 per person ex tip, but that was 2 appetizer plates, 2 entrees, dessert, and a couple expensive craft beers we can’t get in Texas that I just had to try, so the total bill was not unreasonable. Haven is quite cool in my opinion and I’d definitely go back. Can’t say enough about the service delivered by the whole staff even though the restaurant was hopping busy. Parking is on street and can be rough in Old Town Orange, another reason to go early and enjoy S. Cal outside seating at a great place.

C’mon!!! Haven Gastropub needs more LOVE! I’m rating this place 4 stars because… — A little dim in ambience but it’s a perfect spot to grab a drink & meet up with friends. TVs available. — They open late!(Until 2am!) — Mostly street parking around Old Town Orange — A selected unique menu of draught beer, but I’ve ordered a flight of 4& most of them were delicious!!! **MYFAVORITE: the PATSY coconut stout!!! — A huge variety of OTHER drinks as well ranging from different kinds of rum, tequila, wine, bottled beer, cocktails, etc. — Service was good. The staff were fun and gave recommendations to us. — Food is a little PRICEY& a little small in portions(a big reason why I rated this place 4 stars) BUT food was fresh and delicious!!! ** Recommend: the TRUFFLEFRIES&MAC ‘N CHEESE!

I’ve come here 3 times now. The first time, I had the lamb burger years ago for dinner. It was good. The second time, I came with my girlfriends for lunch. We heard about the mac and cheese — it was good, classic mac and cheese that we shared among the 4 of us. I wasn’t blown away. I got the spaghetti squash marinara for my entrée and it was not cooked all the way through(if you want good spaghetti squash marinara, go to Mama’s on 39). It was rather expensive to add on a protein too. I came back for beers this week, and we weren’t impressed by the small menu of draught beers. A lot of them are local, but I might as well go to the brewery down the street. The beers they had are on tap elsewhere around the circle with better selection and a bartender who knows a little more about his beer(probably).

Found Haven on groupon, and I’m glad I did! Stopped by for dinner on Sunday and enjoyed the chill vibe and hip décor. Broccoli soup: pretty good, did not expect it to be more of a «purée» texture. Salt and vinegar chips: if you accidentally breathe in the pink seasoning it kind of feels like wasabi. They were good but pretty much tasted like lays salt and vinegar chips Brussel sprouts: crispy, good, needs some cheese Mac n cheese: as others have said, it’s good. The crispy layer of cheese on top was delicious Scallops: all presentation, two scallops were cut into 5 pieces and perfectly cooked. All in all good for your eyes not for your stomach. We still have a balance on our groupon so we will try this place for brunch! Review #10 of 2016

Haven has been on my mind for some time. I’ve wanted to try this gastropub that sprouted up in the heart of Old Town Orange since it’s inception a few years ago. Well I finally got the chance! After a carousing night of cheering and rallying at the Big West Tournament quarterfinals,(zot zot zot!) my four buddies and I headed over to Haven for more alcohol and what we hoped would be delicious food. For a Thursday night, the wait didn’t take too particularly long, and Haven was quite packed, but our hostess said that our group would be seated in about 30 or so minutes, and well it actually took closer to 20 minutes. Nice! To say that their alcohol list is extensive is a slight understatement. They have a lot of rotating handles and beers on tap. We ordered three beers, a belgian style ipa, and 2 new limited stone ipas. I also couldnt help myself and ordered RIttenhouse Rye on the rocks, because it’s delicious. SO! food! Pork charcuterie board, with a few assorted slices of salumi and pâté maison. Which, was. delicious. Lamb Burger with Truffle Fries Haven Burger with Truffle Fries Both of the burgers are totally worth the $ 18 +$ 2 for truffle fries. The burgers are quite substantial, but not packed too densely. The patties were cooked to order almost perfectly, medium rare and medium were the spectrum for the night. Our waiter accidently put in a wrong order, and I didn’t get my truffle fries with my burger, but he immediately realzied that it was wrong and sent out a full order of truffle fries to make up for it. So. I just a double order of fries. Sweet!

We had a late lunch today. Service was great! Manager Chris stopped by our table a couple times. Started with the deviled eggs with pickles, very tasty. My friend had the lamb burger medium which was on point(juicy) w onion sprouts. I had the fish & chips with their house made tarter & ketchup. We shered the mac & chz, delicious. Generous portions. I need to come back for dinner. Thanks Chef! Craft beer selection is really good.

My initial impression of Haven wasn’t great. See my previous review. However, I have to give credit where credit is due. One thing led to another and I found myself back here again. The service has VASTLY improved! Our servers have all been courteous and prompt. It looks like they’ve purged themselves of the few bad apples. I’m still not crazy about their entire menu. Most of the items are overpriced — there’s no getting around this. I don’t really fancy an $ 18 burger or $ 24 steak fries. Haven is great for drinks and some light bites. Check out the late-night menu for items such as lamb meatballs, roasted spaghetti, or spicy cauliflower(all $ 8 – 12). There’s also an extensive beer list with lots of stouts, IPA’s, etc. Progress, man’s distinctive mark alone.

If there is one thing I’ve learned by writing reviews and pretending to know it all. Is that our opinions can change about a restaurant. I used to not like the food here at all. The mixologists here at haven are all a bunch of warlocks. That can kill any drink order at a drop of a hat. Now back to the subject at hand. I came in on a Friday night and you may of guessed it, it was packed! Luckily there were three open seats at the bar and me and my buddies rushed over quickly, stiff arming old ladies, and hurdling over babies. I ordered the skirt steak with squid ink potatoes on a bed of avocado purée. Absolutely delicious! So good I didn’t want to eat anything for fifteen minutes just so I can savor the after taste. Wagyu beef cheek poutine also delicious! Perfectly cooked fries sitting on top of beef wagyu. Oh cmon, and cheese curds !! I love it when poutines are done right. Lamb meat balls was blah tho. A little too gamey for my taste. For dessert we had a two ounce pour of a 12 year Weller whiskey which was delicious. Made with same ingredients as pappy van Winkle but a fraction of the price. Thank you for changing up your menu! The drinks here had always been exceptional, but now you guys are a double threat!

Haven is always a great place visit. Whether it’s just for drinks with friends or grabbing a quick lunch or having a sit down dinner with family, Haven always has something great to offer. My favorite things to have here are the drinks. There just to much detail to them, juices are fresh and it takes a few mins to construct them but worth every second. Be warned its usually busy. So it would be wiser to make a reservation. There may even be a wait if you want to drink at the bar. The food is amazing. All the dishes I’ve tried have been so creative and full of flavor. The oxtail poutine is so rich. It’s such an indulgence. The meat is so tender. Yum! Also, recently I tried the Brussel sprouts. They are roasted and come out so crispy and hot. Dressed with something citrusy, man were they good. Every visit it better than the last… Great food with great service. check this place out!

SALTFEST2015! OMG. I wrote that and now Unilocal has a Morton Grinders in Sea Salt ad next to my review and I’ve barely begun. Weird. Anyway… This place is well-liked by customers(packed both times we went) and food critics(hallway lined with magazine rave reviews), so don’t let my review deter you since I’m in the minority. FOOD: Oh man, they are trying a little too hard here(it actually says GASTROPUB on the bathroom wall and gives a definition; likewise the menus and servers repeat this as though the 15 yr old term is new). Anyway, the menu is pretty inventive(octopus, cauliflower, lamb, pear), but for me too limited in things I would actually eat. The BRUSSELSSPROUTS are amazing, especially if you like lemon because they taste drizzled with lemon juice up top, and the ones on the bottom are soaking in it. They’ll do the prosciutto on the side if you like, which was hearty and tasty. The dish is very salty. So was my wife’s salad. It was a saltad. The HAVENBURGER is great. The burger was thick and juicy, though I wanted mine well done. The arugula, roasted red pepper, and pickled onion made for a great sandwich, but the blue cheese(disguised with the name St. Ager) is really overpowering and makes it a bit soggy, causing the burger to fall apart. And you cannot possibly think they don’t give you enough fries, even if you have a wife who picks at them while you go to the bathroom. The fries are good, though they are oddly sweet. The food is so salty I suspect they own stock in blood pressure medication. AMBIANCE: Good service. The dim lights, so dim you’d need a cell phone light to read the limited menu, make the place very romantic, but the noise level coming from the one large crowded room, full of tables close together, with brick walls and no divisions, was too unbearable for me to return for a peaceful meal. It makes a Buffalo Wild Wings feel like a library. DRINKS: Great selection. If you like hard lemonade, but fancier, the Corpse Reviver #2 is really good, though drinking something with a Number 2 in it never seems like a good idea.
