Stopped by the Echo Unlimited at the Outlets at Orange(It used to be called The Block at Orange). Big Sale: Everything Must Go. Does that mean it’s closing soon? Who knows, and I don’t really care. Read on at your peril. The store is stuffed with clothing racks so it’s hard to move around. It’s like a maze inside. You have to plan a route from one side to the other, and hope that someone doesn’t put up a roadblock by standing in your path. Narrow excuses for aisles. Music radio station played too loud — whatever; but when the ads blast into your skull as you’re trying to think — that spells annoying. The racks are CRAMMED with clothes, making it hard to search. Cheap-ass hangers that the clothes fall off as you search. Most of the clothes are scratchy or synthetic, which don’t feel comfortable. As for the jeans, all $ 14.99 now, but good luck with finding something that fits. Stick-insect sizes abound, but few things for regular people. That’s why there is an abundance of 32 slims which will never be sold. Must be tough doing business when your decision-makers are challenged. Concrete floor throughout. The dressing rooms have never been swept, probably, with dust bunnies waiting to gather on your clothes. No locks on the doors of both dressing rooms, and the handles falling off both. Found some sweatpants on the table with the sign $ 19.99. Tiny, tiny place to stand at the register area — of course clothing racks intruding into the space. A female salesperson(Jenn S.) who was way too cool for the likes of me, apparently. Serving me but staring away at who-knows-what. The sweatpants ring up at $ 23.80 and I said: «I thought the price was lower»(as indicated by the sign). She barks out blah, blah, blah. Sometimes, I just am not in the mood to set a person straight and raise my blood pressure. She asks: «Do you want the receipt in the bag?» I said: «No, I’ll take it». As she stares absent-mindedly off to the side, she puts the receipt in the bag. Wouldn’t it be funny if I was Undercover Boss! Most stores at The Outlets do a pretty good job keeping the experience pleasant. But not this one. I assume the place is going down the tubes, from all indications. If they do stick around, they have here a few tips on improvement — free of charge. ;-)
