Saturday evening dinner date with my wife. Intrigued by their dinner menu, we took a shot. My wife ordered the risotto. She liked it, I liked it. I ordered the lobster sandwich. Here’s where it got fishy. Although the flavors were there, the chef did not put enough lobster on the sandwich. The roll they used was something I have seen and tasted and something that would come from a Vons or Safeway. Bad French roll. Two inches of bread space left empty one inch on each side had no lobster meat. The French fries was the worst. It was atrocious. Heat lamp treated fries from a restaurant tauting itself as a premier restaurant with this kind of food deserve a generous 2 stars. Service was fine. She was friendly but cannot pronounce Pinot Noir correctly. There is a training issue here. Not recommended and will never come back.

Had a special date night and wanted to impress, so I took her to Porter’s in the Doubletree Ontario Hotel. I know, who thinks of 5 star dining in a hotel in Ontario? Impressed we were! Started out with escargot, appetizer of lamb with Brussel Sprouts, a Prime Tomahawk Ribeye steak that was cooked to PERFECTION, finished with a house made Crème Brûlée. The service was wonderful! The food was so amazing we asked our waiter if we could speak to the Executive Chef. The Chef(Lester) was humble and gracious, told us about how he cooked some of our items and really made feel as if we had dinner in his home. If you live in the area or need a place to create a special memory, I highly recommend Porter’s. Cheers, Tim

Great service, average food(at best), disappointing ambiance, severely overpriced. Thank goodness I had a gift certificate for this meal because if I had to pay for my $ 44 meal, I would have been mad. Starter: lobster bisque was a little flat tasting, but not disgusting. Entrée: New York Strip steak, baked potato, creamed spinach. There is NOWAY that was prime beef. I’ve had better steaks from Stater Bros grocery store. I read on Porter’s website that steaks are cooked in a 1,700 degree broiler, which should give a nice char, but my steak was pale and grey on the outside, and very tough for the type of cut, although the inside was cooked perfectly rare as ordered. My husband’s steak, cooked medium, also had no char at all. Baked potato was an up-charge from the regular side of mashed potatoes, and was hard inside. Creamed spinach was awful, watery, bland, and tasted like it was made with frozen spinach and milk. It was greatly improved by adding butter from the potato, lots of salt, and A1 sauce. The complementary rolls were some sort of cheese roll and were super delicious. The ambience is terrible for a supposed«steakhouse». It is really bright, with vinyl booths. I felt like I was at Coco’s or any other generic casual diner. At 9:00 the club next door cranked up the music, which came right through the restaurant walls. The food is grotesquely overpriced for the atmosphere and quality. $ 10.75 for the lobster bisque, $ 44 for the entrée and sides. To give credit where it is due, our server, Joe, was amazing. He was attentive, and polite. He made sure we got water refilled and wine was poured for us in a timely manner. We mentioned to the hostess that it was our anniversary because when she tried to seat us in a big booth we asked if there was a smaller, more cozy table. To our surprise, the hostess passed the message to Joe, who brought a complementary, and really tasty, lava cake. Would not ever go back for dinner. If you’re stuck at this hotel and must eat there, maybe try a burger or sandwich.

This was my first and last visit. The prices and the food do not match whatsoever. Although the entrée was tasty for my party of 5. the starters were a joke. Who is this Chef? We ordered a shrimp cocktail that was served in a mason jar with a lid I guess the champagne glasses were all gone. Presentation is a part of any food dish(Chef). 4 small shrimp stuff in this jar with cucumbers stuffed in the bottom of the jar 1 lemon slice and some other crap next to the lemon slice. The next item was flatbread that was tasty but was COLD. I guess the microwave was broken. The server was just plain dumb. He never really offered us anything I asked for«bread» and he brought out some old cold muffins. There were 5 of us and he left one spat of butter with these day old cold biscuits. He mentioned the specials as «oh by the way» here’s what we have. So pathetic! I told him I wanted a white wine and he never mentioned a house special or anything special so I then told him Chardonnay. I asked for prime rib and he gave every excuse as to why it could not be Medium Rare. So I ordered something else! No choice or variety with this guy. None of the other servers said one word to any of us. Anything we needed we had to flag him down and this place is empty. It was Father’s Day and I tried to treat my husband and son to a steak dinner. The prices along with the service and the portion sizes in the entrees along with the horrible«starters» are the reasons that I will never go near this joint ever again.

Best filet I have ever had. Succulent, tender and very flavorful. This chef knows what medium rare is. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. I selected the creamed spinach and Mac-n– cheese for the sides both were extremely delicious, especially the Mac-n-Cheese. The best part is that they were included in the price of the filet! Go for the small Caesar salad as a starter, you won’t be disappointed. Waitstaff was excellent! Draft beer selection was better than most and the beer was ice cold when it was delivered to the table. If you’re in the mood for a Morton’s quality steak without having to pay $$$$. This place is worth a visit. I will be back.

This is the 3rd time I’ve been here & I’ll be honest, it’s appears to lose a star with each visit. The 1st time was about a couple years ago. Incredible food, drink, service & atmosphere. The 2nd time was about a year. Again, the food was top notch but portions were less & service was sub par. The atmosphere was disturbed by commotions from the adjacent nightclub which shares an entrance with the restaurant. The overflow of people lined up to enter the club blocked the entrance to the restaurant. Poor management for sure. After our meal we were offered a complimentary admission into Misty’s but we declined. The 3rd& most recent visit was Valentine’s Day. After spending a good 10 min trying to decide what we wanted, the server tells us they are out of it. Apparently they were out of a few things on the menu. They were even out of the special Vday dessert, whatever that was. Portions were unbelievably small. I usually have leftovers to take home but not only did I nor have any leftovers, I was even still a little hungry afterwards. My date ordered the 32 oz Porterhouse which was cooked to perfection, &2 sides. He was happy. I ordered the Surf ‘n Turf: 4oz blue cheese crusted filet mignon, 2 shrimp scampi & mushroom risotto.(I thought there was only 1 shrimp but there was another one directly underneath it. They were not very big) I estimate the risotto was maybe 2 heaping teaspoons at the most. Everything tasted delicious. We ordered a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, which went well with our meal. We ended our meal with strawberry shortcake & a heart shaped chocolate mousse cake. We also sat out on the patio which was lovely because of the Spring-like weather we’ve been having. We will be back again I’m sure, but maybe later rather than sooner.

Porters steakhouse is located inside the double tree hotel. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly & fast. This place during the off hours is dress to impress. It’s one of the best steakhouses in the city & it’s conveniently located inside the double tree hotel next to mistys lounge. After a great dinner you can walk 100 steps and enjoy live music & continue your fun.

Good Food — Server Needs an Attitude Adjustment… Though the food is expensive, it is VERY good. The problem was the service… A group of us were staying in the hotel for a business trip. This is a CONVENTIONCENTER so it is very likely that every person is on some type of travel allowance or must provide receipts for reimbursement. We had the misfortune of getting the same staff member two nights in a row. The first night we arrived a minute or two apart and the first person made it clear that each was on their own ticket. The service was slight and with a bit of an attitude, but not really bad. The second night we all arrived together. The server took our orders expeditiously, but was pretty slow to respond to requests for water, drinks, condiments, etc. She would go and talk with another server and THEN eventually, get the requested item. One person had to take an urgent phone call and got up from the table. We requested that each ticket be separate and she had a bit of a kitten fit. Huffed and puffed complaining about how hard that it would be to divide up the ticket. If it really is that hard, it’s probably something that she needed to determine at the beginning of the meal especially at a CONVENTIONCENTER!!! When she came back with the individual tickets, she noticed one person was missing(the guy on the phone call). She actually told us we could not leave until one of us either picked up his ticket or he returned. Plus, as the party was 8 or so people, there was already a gratuity added to the ticket. This was literally the first time in my life that I have not left a 20 to 25% ticket at a good restaurant. Yes — the restaurant is good. Clearly we should have asked for a different server. Perhaps Atilla the Hun…

This is the best steakhouse that I’ve never heard of. Joe took really good care of us and even brought us a little dessert. We had the prime rib and pork chops and both were cooked perfectly. The cheesecake was the best I’ve had in a long time.

The quality of the food was good especially the appetizers, the actual dinner portion sizes were very small. Way overpriced, Can get a very much larger steak at Outback of the same quality of taste for half the price.

It feels like years since I’ve been here. Seems even longer since I had a great steak. My first time here had to be over a year ago. I was craving Black Angus a couple of blocks away, but wasn’t digging the wait. So, I opted for Porter’s Prime. I didn’t regret my choice because I thought that their filet was pretty good. I’m not stating that Porter’s has the bestest steaks in the world, but good enough. Plus, the prices here aren’t too bad. On my most recent visit, I decided to go with their Turkey Burger. I know, I know… Turkey Burger at steakhouse??? I had to do it since I gave up red meat for a while. The Turkey Burger isn’t actually on their dinner menu, but they cooked one for me anyway. Thank you, Porter’s. Now that’s service! My turkey burger was pretty good and surprisingly juicy. I had my turkey burger with asparagus instead of their fries. Again, no regrets. They’re asparagus stocks were delicious. I’m sure I will be back… just not sure if I will be getting their steak or turkey burger. Both were pretty damn good.

Best steak I’ve ever had! Don’t know how I had not heard of Porter’s before, but this gem is now on my favorites list! We were lucky enough to get in for Valentines Day. Everyone who greeted us was very friendly. The décor was beautiful and tasteful, perfect ambiance for a romantic evening. Our waiter, Peter was awesome! You can usually expect quality service in an upscale place like this, but he had a genuine charm and sincerity that is rare and made the meal and evening even better. Everything was perfectly timed. He was friendly and attentive without hovering – a true art form. I can’t remember the last time we received such great service! We started with the lobster bisque and crab cakes. Both were fantastic. The bisque was rich and creamy without being too heavy. And you could taste the freshness of the crab cakes. Both were complimented by wonderful martinis. We ordered the NY steak and the Rib Eye. When they were served, they looked a bit too blackened to be medium rare – I’ve just obviously never had a steak done right before. They were PERFECT! Tender and juicy on the inside, perfectly seared and seasoned on the outside. Both my husband and I agreed they were best steaks we had ever had. the last bite was even better than the first! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! At first glance, I thought they were a little pricey compared to other steak houses in the area e.j.(NY Grill in Ontario), but between the quality of the beef, the expertise of the chef and the fantastic service – we both left happy, well fed and satisfied! Definitely worth every penny. Can’t wait to go back!

I will start by saying Porter’s could be 3.5 Stars but I couldn’t justify 4 Stars it could be the best steak house in the area minutes away from Ontario Airport or maybe I was really hungry for a nice rib-eye and a few Martinis anyway the reviews are all over the place if you decide to try it you won’t hate it and yes you will say you’ve had better steaks but they aren’t bad.(sorry for the long sentence). I don’t think the value is here the price of the steak made my mouth water but the size of the steak just made it drop open in disbelief thankfully it was flavorful. The sides are big enough to share so pass them around but don’t share your steak it’s that small. The service was great and the décor was pleasant. I was told the fish was excellent.

Porter’s is located in the Doubletree Hotel near the Ontario Airport. I had dinner here with a co-worker who had flown in on business and was staying nearby. This establishment caters to the higher end crowd and pricing reflects the same. Expect to order an entrée and al carte sides, or get creative like I did. I ordered the lobster bisque as well as the Steak & Blue Cheese entrée salad. My co-worker ordered the New York Strip, while we both shared a calamari appetizer. My review here is mainly reflective of the food offerings as the service and staff were above reproach. I must begin by saying that the lobster bisque was excellent. A solid 4.5 star, possibly a 5-star. Very nice flavor, with a small chuck of lobster hidden in the middle of the bowl and a small puff pastry garnish. The calamari was good and the included sauce was very nice. The Steak & Blue Chees entrée salad was where I had my main issue. My steak was ordered rare, which the middle was. However, the outside was burnt. Enough so that my companion said he could smell so. The steak lacked seasoning as far as I could tell. The salad portion was also literally a small head of iceberg lettuce cut in half, placed on the plate and drizzled with a little dressing, blue cheese and bacon bits. I love blue cheese and prefer it a little tangy. This blue cheese was very mild(which may not be a fair review as some may prefer a milder blue cheese). Since the steak, IMO was not properly prepared, and this is a steakhouse, it was a major deal. My coworker’s New York Strip was less than stellar as well, and far below what one would expect for a $ 41 steak that costs what a full meal costs in other establishments(remember, this was for the steak only, no sides). Pros: Excellent service, if you go here you must have the Lobster Bisque. Cons: Steaks were below average for the genre.

Wonderful place to eat. I came here for a party and we had great service. I shared a caesar salad which is large enough for 2 persons. I then had the filet mignon, very flavorful. Garlic mash potatoes and the cream corn were delicious. I like the low light setting, makes for a romantic dinner.

So I came. I tried. They failed. The steak was just OK. Listen people, salt & pepper on a steak just isn’t enough! What differentiates your steak from the rest. I find that the places that do some kind of blackening or butter seem to have the best steaks.

Damn!!! My steak was Juicy Tasty Perfectly cooked to my liking Huge It was kinda pricey but this steak was dry-aged. Dry-aged meat has a very bold concentrated flavor. Meal started with complimentary bread and butter. It ended with a happy birthday song to Stacy H. We shared a porterhouse steak and I got the better cut. Our waitress was attentive. 4 stars! Porter’s Prime Steak House is yummylicious!

32 oz porterhouse, medium, and a glass of water. mmmmm One of the better places to eat if you are in the area, near the airport. Don’t order fish. Don’t order a hamburger. Order the special. Can’t go wrong. One heck of a slab of meat!
