Consistently fantastic! Easily the finest dining experience in Onancock and Virginia’s Eastern Shore. This enchanting little hotel and restaurant has 8 beautiful rooms. The extraordinarily comfortable beds are hand crafted by Gary as well as many other charming built ins. The artwork and painting on the walls and floors reflect Charlotte’s personal touch and incredible talent.
This is the perfect getaway spot for couples to relax, unwind and reconnect!
The waitstaff is very professional, attentive and knowledgeable. The chefs cuisine is delicious. Gary makes a killer Manhattan. Don’t skip breakfast. It is included in your stay. Gary whips up the most delicious omelette you will ever eat!

My wife Donna took me for a surprise dinner at this awesome establishment. We had the best dinner, service was fantastic and the atmosphere is just to die for. The night we went we had live acoustic music that was really a lot of fun. Everything on the menu looked fresh, I think it is pretty much a scratch kitchen. The bar is cozy, very romantic. This is the perfect date night place! You can even book a rook there!:) I had the filet and it was cook perfectly. This place is just done right. It is NOT fast food or fare of that you would see at chain restaurants. It is a true homemade quality fare that you don’t often get dining out. The menu is not large, this is not the Cheesecake Factory. However they cover all the basis. I would just order whatever is on special, it is all good! This place is top notch. The food is divine. Service is great. There are no words to describe how good it really is. My pork chop was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, juicy and tender. Best pork chop of my life so far. You definitely get what you pay for and I say it was worth every penny.

My husband, father in law and I just had a fabulous weekend at the Charlotte Hotel. We have family history in Onancock. So many memories. Gary and Charlotte could not have been more accomodating. Room was clean and bright. Restaurant is the best in town. There was even a chair lift to the second floor for Dad. The hotel is within walking distance of most places, including the harbor. A definite two thumbs-​up!

Booked this hotel for a stay after my boyfriend finished the bar exam and it was the perfect, peaceful retreat. The hotel owner was extremely helpful throughout our stay and the town is sleepy, but adorable.
If you want a wonderful, relaxing getaway from D.C., absolutely amazing food at your hotel restaurant, and lovely, warm people to provide great customer service throughout — definitely check out The Charlotte Hotel.

We stayed here in May 2011, a little getaway from Arlington. We arrived around 4 PM on a Friday afternoon. After checking in to our room — to which we were so kindly escorted by Gary — we took a stroll around the neighborhood. The town was incredibly quiet, yet every person we encountered was friendly. It is about a half-​mile walk to the marina.
We had dinner at the hotel, and the food was delicious. I started with the goat cheese tart and small salad. Oftentimes, little boutique restaurants like this one like to ‘skimp’ on the portion size, but this was just right. At the same time, it was not overwhelming. The side salad tasted just like it had been picked from the garden — a rare, unexpected, and pleasant find! For the entrée, I had the two crab cakes. Being on the Eastern Shore, your expectations are naturally high; mine were exceeded. The sauce was perfect, too. For dinner, hubby and I split a piece of the chocolate cake.
The room we stayed in was well-​decorated, and definitely a cut-​above a boring hotel room. It felt like we had ‘escaped.’ The bathroom was nice, too, and larger than what I was expecting.
The bed was very comfortable. I would have to say my only complaint was that the rooms are not entirely soundproof. That being said, you can sometimes get that with a traditional B&B (which, this is not). I could hear all of the conversations taking place in the hallway as well as a guest across the hall who probably needs to have his tonsils taken out.
I definitely recommend this, and would return!

The tuna I had was great. In my 3 nights here eating Tuna every night at 3 different restaurants, this place was the best. The chicken my friend had was ok. The black berry ice cream was the best I’ve ever had.
