I really wanted to like this location more. I have moved away from Downtown and this Blue is convenient to meet up with friends. We met last night after an OBA(Omaha Bar Assn.) event and we needed some food. Wifle was hankering for the Veg Lettuce wraps and I wanted some beer. We went at what didn’t seem like a prime time, but the place was packed. OK, no worries, we can wait a bit. 20 minutes turned into 45. I had time to admire the décor and them restrooms in this time. Our 5 top had me sitting in the aisle and scooting in for people walking with food/drink. We go our food and my Blood Orange Saison(good call Flagship) and the waitress was fairly attentive. We did not get our Spicy Edamame although it was acknowledged. All in all this location needs some focused attention to bring their skills back to point.

Today I went to the newly remodeled blue sushi. It’s pretty wide open and welcoming. It looks like the red lounge is on the left and traditional blue on the right. I quickly ordered edamame and was surprised when it came out minutes later. Quickly followed by tuna tower. If you haven’t had the tower, try it! It’s like sushi but you can break it down for more of a sushi bowl. It consists of sushi rice, avocados, some crab like mix, and at last tuna on top. It’s $ 12 but worth it! I like this better than ordering sushi as I feel like it’s more filling. Service today was great. The server was very nice. Food was tasty and was served quickly. I enjoy coming to blue on Sunday for happy hour. This place is great for s friendly atmosphere. It probably isn’t the best if you are a sushi connoisseur though. Idk because Im not a picky eater: it’s just what I’ve heard. :-P at any rate, they offer quite an assortment of food that I think is good sushi.

The«newer» location is beautiful, spacious and blew me away more ways than one. Excellent service and the best part? The sushi even got better(somehow). It was fresher and their rolls are tightly wrapped. I’ll be coming back at least once a week. Can I just have this sushi for every meal? We had the eden roll, avocado roll, cabo roll, crunchy LA, and the spicy tekka. All amazing. Okay, I’ll shut up now. There’s a reason they haven’t done any publicity for this newer location: they don’t have to.

Itchy salmon and blue balls are my favorite appetizers! Their sushi is pretty good, but it’s what their happy hour menu includes that I like best! Never had a bad experience at any location.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Favorite Sushi place of all time. Favorite items on the menu: Miso Soup, Hot Popper Roll, Eden Roll, and they also have a Tuna Stack that is to die for. Happy Hour prices can’t be beat with $ 4.50 rolls, $ 3 beers, and $ 3 wines. They also have $ 6 specialty cocktails and their dirty martini is out of this world. This location is also brand new, taking over the Red location. A lot bigger and very clean.

Fresh ingredients, creative choices and fair prices for sushi. Wish there were more spicy rolls available but overall this is a nice stop on the limited Omaha sushi tour.

Some of the rolls are pretty basic but I love some of the specialty rolls and the happy hour prices on martinis, appetizers, certain rolls, and other drinks. All day Sunday happy hour and decent lunch specials. My go to menu items include: itchy salmon specialty nigiri(do yourself a favor and order it not baked/raw) Yellowtail specialty nigiri Coconut crab soup(coconut milk not actual coconut) Thriller roll(served warm with dat sauce all over it) Spanish fly(no seaweed sub rice paper) Tuna tower.

Can’t say I love any of Blue’s locations. Always seem to have the worst staff(one even forgot to put my order in. Didn’t realize it until the kitchen was already closed). The only thing that«keeps» me coming back with others is the Itchy Salmon. Better service might change my mind, but overall have had«better» sushi.

This location was super busy at the time of our visit; but the server was nice and the service wasn’t too terribly slow, all things considered. A couple appetizers, rolls and cocktails came up to right around $ 40. Not the best for a happy hour, but not terrible. I would try again.

The food is pretty good but since they changed the menu and made the portions smaller it’s over priced. The staff is however very friendly and accommodating.

Best happy hour in town. Honestly I’m not a big sushi fan, but I enjoy the cooked rolls at Blue. Happy hour waits can be long some days but it’s worth the wait.

Blue is the best place for sushi in Omaha! Great environment and friendly staff. The food never disappoints.

Ehh, not my favorite Blue. The patio area is like a hallway. Our server was kind of ridiculous. She intentionally spoke so quiet that my dinner date and I couldn’t hear her. There are better sushi places, probably not doing that again.

The atmosphere is pretty cool. The waitresses are awesome. 13 dollars for the smallest roll I’ve ever seen… No thank you. Not only was it small but it had no taste. Everything is over priced, their happy hour is worthless. $ 5 for a roll which is only for about $ 1 off its regular price. They don’t put their high price rolls on happy hour. Wouldn’t be worth it to go back

I don’t find myself this far out west often, but I did today so I thought I’d stop here for happy hour. We used the Unilocal!check in to get a complimentary order of edamame along with an order of the Shishito peppers which has great flavors going on, soy sauce, garlic, a little toasted sesame oil(I’m guessing) and they have a little kick to them because of the shichimi seasoning(I have this at my house and I definitely recommend picking it up at your local Asian market). We also ordered a couple of rolls and nigiri. I’m a sucker for yellowtail and scallions so no matter where I get sushi I usually order a Negi Hamachi roll(or Negi Hama at Blue). Blue has so many interesting and fun sounding rolls, so we thought we’d try something we’d never had before and ordered the Crunchy Cabbage. It was great! The tempura nappa cabbage on the outside of the roll was tasty and light while the spicy tofu on the inside added great flavor. The marinated mackerel nigiri was good, I’ve had better locally but was still pleased with it. Seating outside was limited but we were able to get a table and the weather was great. Our server could have been a little more attentive or inviting but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. I can say I will go back to Blue or Baby Blue to try out some of the other interesting rolls on their menus.

I came to Blue for lunch earlier today. Although located in a strip mall, the restaurant is trendy with a waterfall inside, outdoor seating, a full bar and good ambience. Sushi was fresh, but I didn’t by care for their miso soup and at $ 4 it wasn’t worth the price. I ended up getting a spicy edamame, thanks to a Unilocal check in but it certainly didn’t warrant $ 5.50! Their lunch special is limited to 1 maki roll and/or 1 order sushi/sashimi. They do offer a happy hour menu which I didn’t look at. So overall, prices are a little steep, miso soup was not good and they don’t have any sushi/sashimi lunch specials. Nigiri had excessive rice and I almost got the sense that they cater to non sushi purists such as myself :).

Love this place– easy to spend $$$! Great food, great drinks, great présentation, great service! They have plenty of vegetation and a few non-seafood options. I recommend reservations

Having first discovered Hiro 88 here in Omaha I was impressed by the fact that I could get good sushi in the area, especially since I absolutely love sushi, but nothing could have prepared me for Blue. It seems to be one of those areas that college students in Omaha like to hang out, perhaps banks to the attached Sake Bombers lounge that is open late night, and perhaps just because it is a really pleasant atmosphere there at blue. I originally heard of blue from my co-workers at Wheatfields and I kept saying I would eventually get there but unfortunately I never did into just recently with my Girlfriend. I was absolutely blown away by the place and I loved their fish tank that was hanging on the wall, I became quite close friends with the little pufferfish they have in it(the little guy kept staring at me the entire time we were there, and he was just so darn cute.) We started out with the Mango Crab Rangoon, which has absolutely spoiled me for crab Rangoon because it is so good, and the seaweed salad. Both were absolutely excellent and the edamame they have, both original and spicy, are fantastic! They have a variety of rolls and sashimi, as well as nagiri and the teas they serve complement the food well. Best part of all though is that blue is a little bit cheaper than most other sushi places. It has quickly become my go to spot when I am craving sushi.

Before the more convenient old market location this was a staple in my undergrad dining. We would make the long drive from downtown just to eat at blue. I always found the service to be really reliable and the food to be good. Many years passed. I moved out of town. Moved back. and started working in the area. Blue became a stable for work lunch meetings and happy hour after work. Some of the positives for blue is they have great happy hour specials during peak hours and all day happy hour on Sunday. The décor is modern and chic– probably the first among restaurants to attempt this in Omaha. They have their own Wi-Fi and you can use PayPal to pay for your meal. They also were one of the pioneers to really start serving sushi and popularize it in Omaha. A few of the negatives is that during happy hour you can only sit in the lounge area which is very uncomfortable and slightly awkward. It’s both crowded and can get really cold during the winter season with the large glass windows and doors opening frequently. I’ve also noticed in the past six months that the service there seems a little lacking. I don’t know if they have new hired employees or just people who don’t care what’s going on but I found a lot of our hostess/servers to be borderline snobby and rude. At one point I felt bad asking for a straw as if that was way too much trouble for her. I’ve find the staff to be lacking enough that I wouldn’t want to go here except that I love the food! I would count this as the only improvement needed for this location. Otherwise I like the menu a lot and will continue to be a patron. I think they do well with innovative sushi as well as a few traditional favorites. The entrées and appetizers are also crowd pleasers, and I’ve never had any issues with any of the drinks I’ve ordered.

Unhappy! I waited a day before I wrote this review. I wanted to make sure I slept on it and didn’t write it in the heat of anger. Unilocalers and other rave about this place, the parent company are the same people who do Plank and I love them. I was failed last night. Sunday is happy hour… but only if you sit in the bar/lounge. Um okay. The leather love seats were comfortable but they are right next to the windows and it was cold. So either I had to sit there with my coat on or freeze. I didn’t bring a coat so I froze. The tables where the height of coffee tables and while this doesn’t seem important not, it comes into play later. Zenda and I were seated and a blonde waitstaff came with water with slices of cucumber in it. Zenda ordered a soda, it was flat as if it had been sitting all night on the counter. We sent that back and stuck with water. We filled out the paper menu with our selections then had to hold up the menu after 10 minutes to get the cute-sy blonde waitstaff’s attention. She was busy making cow eyes at the bartender. I specifically made her watch me check in on Unilocal for the offer of edamame.(This is important too). The edamame arrives by a different waitstaffer and he is much more attentive. Zenda flags down the blonde and asks for a carafe of water(Really? The dining room tables are allowed a carafe of water without asking) and I decide to have a pomegranate cosmo. They are out of pomegranate. Alright, how about just a regular one? Blonde brings it to the table and because it was so overfilled, she spills it all over the table and the martini glass is now all sticky thus so are my hands when I try to drink it. Whatever, I can deal. What I can’t deal with is how undrinkable it is. So bitter I can’t get it down. Send that back. Are you sense a trend yet? The sushi arrives and it’s pretty! They nailed it on the presentation. Zenda prefers the sushi at Hiro 88, I thought it was okay. The sake roll and the shrimp tempura maki while simple where the most tasty out of the bunch. Remeber when I said to pay attention to the low tables in the«lounge»? Because the tables are low, you are forced to hunch over to eat. It was awkward and uncomfortable. I grew more and more frustrated. It wouldn’t have mattered if we said anything, this is where happy hour is honored, in the bar/lounge. The blonde is no where to be seen again. The nice gentleman waitstaff takes over and it looks like he is trying to manage that area which is now pretty full. Zenda and I leave sushi on the tray. We NEVER leave sushi behind. I would rather waddle out threatening to burst at the seams with rice and fish then to leave a piece behind. This time, we leave 4 or 5 pieces. It wasn’t worth eating. Nice Guy brings the check and the first thing I notice is they are charging us for the check in edamame. $ 3.00 is a small thing but if you offer it, honor it. I send back the check. HH Edamame — $ 3. HH Sake Roll — $ 5.00(Regular $ 6.00) HH Shrimp Tempura Make $ 5.00(Regular $ 7.00) HH Super Asperagus $ 5.00(Regular $ 8.00) HH South Pacific $ 5.00(Regular $ 7.00) Crunch Red $ 10.00(Not on happy hour) Rainbow Roll $ 10.00(Not on happy hour) — $ 3.00 for the check in –5.26 for what was left on the gift card. Total came to $ 38.63 Maybe I would have liked the sushi more if my overall experience was better. Here is the kicker, The two young hostesses didn’t even acknowledge us leaving. I was cold, uncomfortable and the food was only fair. No, I don’t see a reason to go back.
