Come here every once in awhile to study and work online– great coffee and sandwiches. Love the blues music and the cute atmosphere …

For boasting itself as the only family owned independent coffeehouse(a claim I find difficult to comprehend with 20 others within a mile), I was expecting more warmth and local charm and fewer signs. My Americano was decent at best, but perfect if you like it HOT. My sandwich was ok, but not freshly made. The tomato and roasted red pepper soup was delicious. There seems to be a strange disconnect with the signs asking not to take more napkins than you need, but still use styrofoam cups and plastic forks and spoons? With so many militantly instructional signs I would think there would be equally meticulous cleanliness, not so. While the homeless schizophrenic sitting across from me knew to turn his table back the right way before leaving, the bathroom was covered in dust, grime, and cobwebs.

One of the biggest reasons I walked in, was the sign on the front door that read«Friends don’t let friends drink Starbucks.» The coffee is great, as is the loft and soft music playing. Sat next to a couple who was obviously having a first date, so maybe a fantastic place for that!

Cozy little coffee shop in the old market area of Omaha. Lots of seats and outlets for working, they even have a loft upstairs with some old comfy chairs! Not the best tasting Iced Coffee I ever had and it was served in hot paper cup, not plastic. It might have been just hot coffee poured over Ice but I do not know that for a fact! All I know is I would stick to the hot coffee here. I did enjoy reading here for about an hour on a Saturday. They also have lots of local art hanging on the walls, and the lady working the counter was pretty catatonic but friendly, maybe she just needed a little more coffee.

Meh coffee… their breakfast deal includes a smashed croissant sandwich(squashed in a panini maker) and ‘fresh’ fruit. The lady points at overripened bananas or processed peaches in a sealed fruit cup(the type my students have in their lunches)… Coffee is meh. I won’t be back.

This is a charming little coffee shop near the Old Market district. The service is friendly and they serve up a delicious cup of coffee with a smile. It’s a really nice privately owned establishment.

This place has been around as long as it has for a reason. Great coffee, grilled sandwiches and gelato. Chill vibe. Go local business!

Coffee is good, great location, atmosphere is meh — they clearly could care less about the décor, with the old Subway castaway furniture & food is blah. Caffeine Dreams and Aromas are better.

I come here at least 5 times a week and am always more than satisfied. Lots of coffee places popping up in the area but I suggest stopping here to see why they’ve been open as long as they have. An Omaha favorite.

I just moved to Omaha this June and 13th street coffee shop was the first coffee house I’ve been to in Omaha. I found it to be a fabulous experience, great coffee and amazing grilled sandwiches! They also have a friendly staff that make you feel welcomed and they always ask how you day is going which in today’s fast paced world allows for one to feel appreciated spending there hard earned money easyily and know as a new person to such a strange city to feel a personal connection ! Happy Baristaing

I’ve been going to 13th Street Coffee for, well, a dozen plus years. I remember when it was the only decent coffee shop in the Old Market. I’m happy to say it’s still a worthy spot to stop to read a book, work on a laptop, meet a friend or simply enjoy a hot caffeinated beverage. And in the dozen plus years I’ve been going to 13th Street Coffee, it really hasn’t changed much. Sure they’ve added gelato(a very good call, imho), but the overall«feel» of the shop is very much the same as it was in the early 2000s, although it is showing a few signs of aging. Still, you can’t beat its location. In my experience, the coffee is always good and the staff is always friendly. And they play classic jazz on radio, which always keeps me happy. Currently, there are many great spots downtown for coffee. And 13th Street is one of ‘em.

Cold drippy morning in Omha, the need for coffee was nearly overpowering. Jason G suggests we hit up 13th street as it is just around the corner from work and it isn’t the dreaded Startbucks. Wandering in around 10am, Jason buys me a Peppermint Patty thing. It was very tasty and probably loaded with calories I didn’t need. The coffee wasn’t too strong. Next time I’ll ask for an extra shot. I appreciate the lady behind the counter was kind enough to honor my request for no whip. I just wished she smiled more.

If anyone but the dark haired late 20’s-early 30’s girl is working, the place is great. If she is working. You won’t get served… She sits outside at the table and only comes in when she decides to.

Born from a time when Omaha had a coffee house explosion! This location is great! Close to work and home for me. The atmosphere is what gets me in the door. The random old books make me come back. This used to be the only shop that had any vegan items and that was helpful. The selection of coffees is definitely top notch and the inclusion of gelato cannot be overlooked. Before there was WiFi everywhere this was that one spot that you could relax and surf at. I still enjoy coming in and relaxing upstairs. the vibe is contemporary and not at all like some of the other local shops. This is truly unique and I hope they stick around for another 15 years

Loved the interior of this place… reminds me of the coffee joints in Portland… got me a cappuccino… was pretty good and the price was pretty much in line with similar places… the guy making it was a pretty friendly fellow who made small talk and seemed to be a positive individual… This may turn out to be yet another of my fave places in Omaha and I look forward to coming back and trying the food they offer…

«Friends don’t let friends drink STARBUCKS.» Reading this sign before entering the shop gave me a good feeling inside. I recently started to drink coffee again, socially(not on the daily). So I’ve been reaccquainting myself with local Omaha coffee places to find the perfect cup of joe. I used to frequent Blueline quite a bit a few years back, but I think this will be my new favorite place in the downtown area. The lady that made my coffee and took my order was super friendly and explained to me some of the menu items. They also serve gelato and a variety of other noms such as panini sandwiches. So you can pretty much sit down here for coffee and lunch! Highly recommend checking this place out!

I’ve been a customer and fan of 13th Street Coffee for six or seven years now. Consistently wonderful coffee and sandwiches combined with a great staff of barristas makes this my longest favorite coffee shop in Omaha. Other places will come and go, but I know that I’ll always come back to 13th Street for my cup of coffee. My «go to» drink there is the Italliano. It’ll wake you up, for sure.

To sum up my experience; excellent. First: I’m always greeted by the friendly Barista, Jessica, and she knows exactly what I want. I like that aspect because it adds a personal touch to my visit. I like being treated as a «regular» and enjoy the chit chat. Second: the atmosphere is laid back, comfy and relaxing. The walls are a montage of local Omaha artists displaying their art and photography. On occasion they bring in local or touring musicians on a Friday or Saturday night. It’s not the most ideal place for an acoustic show but they seem to make it work. Third: THEYHAVEHOMEMADEGELATO. Pistachio or chocolate is my favorite but I love that they keep things local and strive for homemade products. Anyways it’s a great place to come studying, first date, or just meeting up with friends for coffee! You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve tried to give this little coffee shop a try on multiple occasions and I’d like to say they deserve better being a local shop in a town not known for its coffee but they don’t and apparently the previous customers got lucky with having better experiences then me. I’d rate them two stars but they do have a really nice location. Both times I’ve visited 13th Street Coffee I’ve had to deal with the most unpleasant barista. I’m not sure if she’s the owner considering I’ve seen her there whenever I’ve walked by or gone in, but I’d like her to at least pretend to be happy or like she enjoys her job while helping me. She’s been very short and monotone. Also, she’s been on her cellphone while helping me, and she only looked from it when I asked her a question. She makes it very hard for me to want to tip her, but in the industry I feel like tipping is essential, especially in Nebraska where minimum wage is so low. Secondly, I watched the shots for my Americano deteriorate right before my eyes, and then she poured them into the water. I know this is poor quality considering I was previously a barista in Seattle for many years. Upon trying an Americano a second time on a different day, I asked for it iced and she prepared it hot. I had to manage to get her attention from her cell phone to ask for some ice cubes, in which she responded to like I was crazy. Well, I wouldn’t need ice cubes if it was made the way I ordered. In my opinion and I hate to say it, you’re better of getting drip coffee from the gas station across the street. If anything you’ll at least be greeted with a smile and they’ve come to know me after all the coffees I’ve purchased while opening the hotel next to this business. I’m sorry that I couldn’t have provided 13th street with that.
