My best friend lives in Seattle and I live in Portland. This means I do a fair bit of commuting between the two metros. I’ve come to think of Seattle as an outer burrough of Portland. I’m happy to make the trip in one shot but sometimes I don’t have a tight schedule and just kinda toddle along, tooling around and trying new things. So when I left Seattle on Pride weekend, I didn’t want to be trapped anywhere with road closures so I just hopped on the freeway and decided to keep an eye out for something interesting to eat/drink along the way. As I neared Oly, I asked OKGoogle for coffee ideas nearby. It suggested Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. I figured, worst case, there’d be a starbucks if this suggestion sucked or I could just grab an AMPM coffee or something like that and get some gas if I needed it. I made it to the place pretty easily although I think there should be another entrance to the parking lot especially with that median and crosswalk situation. Or I just approached it from a weird uncommon angle(from i5). I parked easily in the same parking lot as a pizza place(good to know) and a small grocery store. Popped in and asked about cold brew. OHNOBIGDEALTHEYJUSTHAVESIXTYPES. 2 espresso types, 3 other types and a draft cold brew, all made from there. I expected her to say the bottled cold brew was stumptown(not a fan). So I had a draft cold brew(she let me try it first, which was sweet), took a bottle of the Sweetheart to go and had an almond pound cake. They had variety in seating and water out for filling a bottle. I don’t know if they had a bathroom or not. They take cards. It was a super cute place to make a stop. I’m excited that I get a piece of the weekend to enjoy tomorrow(MONDAY, whomp whomp) with some momofuku cereal milk. Also, they had some cuuuuute merch. There were some enameled camp cups with their woodsy looking logo on them. So cute, I almost picked one up. Yep, if you’re breezing through between Portland and Seattle and looking for some solid coffee, check out OCRC! There’s also a Half Priced Books in Oly and Tumwater Falls is worth a stop for pictures and a good place to stretch your legs.

Was excited about trying this hip place located downtown OLY. Sadly, they were overpriced, not worth the hype, and I left UNDERwhelmed. Ordered 2 medium ice lattes, a cheese croissant, and a cheese quiche. $ 18.76… They have no method of warming their pastries,. why? Lattes were almost all ice, gone in sips. Its a shame because it is gorgeous and trendy inside. Hence the 2 stars.

This place is the real deal. They take pride in the coffee they make, and they have both the skill and equipment to make fantastic coffee. I usually know it’s a good sign when a cappuccino or straight espresso is served with a side of seltzer water — they want you to cleanse your palate between sips because there’s complexity in the espresso to explore. And since they do a lot of light-to-medium roasts here, you’ll definitely be tasting the coffee and not just the roast. One of my favorite coffee bars in town. In terms of craft I might even like them more than Batdorf and Bronson, my goto place.

My favorite coffee shop in town, I like to mix up the places I visit since every shop has the own vibe and style, but this once is consistently impressing me. The there new store is beautiful, and they have some pretty neat features like the auto pour over the system and large windows the view into the roastery. If you’re a local or from out of town, I suggest at least stopping in just to check out the place.

Great pastries. Coffee is all light roasted arabica with fruity notes if you like that. None are darker toasty flavors. They forgot my order twice now. Not happy. At all

Great coffee, I love how each cup is Brewed by itself just for you. Easily the best coffee I’ve had in Washington. Good espresso but I prefer Batdorf & Bronson’s lattes a little more, they have a bolder flavor.

Enjoyed my 4 shot Americano immensely! Full bodied and bold with a really intense aroma and almost mocha aftertaste. We would absolutely return next time we are in Olympia!

Good location, good drinks… BUT… Wifi is insecure, leaves customers vulnerable. They need to put a WPA password on their wifi, I cannot bring business meeting here for this reason.

I think this place is quite pretentious honestly. Whenever I go in, the gals working seem uppity and not real friendly. The coffee is pretty spendy and even though it is good it is not the best i have had. I asked for a stopper for my lid and the gal looked at me like I was nuts for asking and then suggested I used a straw. Ummmm what? Yeah, I don’t know. Meh.

If you’ve ever met anyone that says they«don’t like coffee» or «all coffee tastes the same» — bring them to Oly roasting. It’s 100% the best coffee I’ve ever had. I buy their whole bean to brew at home and like spending weekend mornings in the shop with their pour overs. Unlike many«good» coffee places, the staff is friendly and warm. Oh, and the mushroom bacon mini quiche is the very best. If you’re in a hurry, get a latte or Americano(pour over coffee is no joke and can’t be rushed). If their Banko Natural coffee is in stock, buy 2 bags. It’s a true delight. I’ve never tasted any coffee so delicious.

Wow, off the charts Espresso made my morning. Rain, no sun here but this place is very convenient, not pretentious, and ZERO drones using this coffee house as their personal study hall.

Despite the immediate stereotypical hipster atmosphere and sea of apple device fans when you walk in, it is by far the only place in Olympia to get a properly made latte every time. Their locally roasted and packed coffees are superior to any store brand and better then Starbucks could ever dream of pretending to be! Olympia Coffee Roasting Co is for sure on my best of Olympia list.

The smoothest, most delicious coffee I’ve had. They’re super friendly here. They make there own vanilla syrup for their drinks and the pastries they sell are amazing.

Beautiful, rich and delicious coffee, with very little acidity. Their coffee makes me incredibly happy; I just want to pinch something. The experience is made even better if you have time to linger with friends in the clean minimalist atmosphere of this coffee shop.

Been to a few of the craft coffee shops in Olympia and came across this one by luck. I’d say fate after tasting the vanilla latte and hearing two women rave about this place having the best chocolate sauce, it’s homemade… The background music is quiet electro(normally don’t like techno type music but it’s comically making my heart beat faster with the beat and the caffeine), they do pour overs, have speciality daily blends, have an assortment of pastries(because coffee deserves a pastry. I meant YOU deserve a pastry), have latte art, and a few seats in the back for yourself and/or partner or in the front bar where you can set up camp and do some people watching(they see you too so no funny or judgy faces allowed). Coffee is delicious. Me like. Me love. Five star.

Great little coffee shop– The staff was super friendly, offering up some silly jokes back and forth with customers– very quick witted. I got a cappuccino which came with a little glass of seltzer and a spoon on a small wooden plate. It was delicious, and the vibe of the place was very calming and they’ve got a variety of whole beans and supplies for sale. I grabbed some beans to take back to the east coast with me– I haven’t started the bag yet, but will be enjoying that this week!!! I don’t get out to coffee shops like these often, I really wish they’d open a location on the east coast! Can’t wait to come back to WA to swing in again.

Absolutely lovely and such a charming shop! I wish I lived in Oly so I could come here more often, it would definitely be my go-to stop for coffee! I got a Mocha and a croissant, and they were both perfect. Friendly staff as well. :) I only wish the music was a bit louder, it was so quiet when i first walked in that it felt kind of awkward. Minor detail though. :)

I was in town on business and I had an hour to kill, so I decided to come by. I had heard of their beans and was happy to find that they had a café ten minutes away from the firm I was visiting. Had the cappuccino and a double espresso. The cappuccino was perfect– the milk was foamy but dense at the same time, in a way that I’ve never tasted. The espresso itself was subtle, with a hint of brightness. I enjoyed it for a bit while I got some work done, and then followed up with an espresso. I was expecting a quality shot, but what the barista presented me with was almost a full ounce of crema. It was so delicious and packed with bright, intense citrusy flavor. How did they do that? So much crema! I would drive down from Seattle for this. I really would.
