Wednesday night is trivia night with Geeks Who Drink. The trivia format is better than other trivia in the area. However, the atmosphere is really loud, even during trivia. When the trivia guy takes a break, the music is deafening. I don’t understand why; there inside is pretty cramped with tables and lots of TVs.
Fortunately, the food is pretty good. The fried cheese curds are amazing. The beer list isn’t too shabby either. I just wish I could converse with my trivia teammates without shouting.

There was a time when I went almost weekly for trivia. Then they got some other guy reading the trivia and it just turned dull or idk. Their cheese curds are delicious. When I tried eating healthier like their veggies and hummus they didn’t have the hummus but offered ranch-​um no. That happened for almost everything ‘healthier’ we tried to order so we gave up on those options. The food is average. They have tons of tv’s for every sport. They have a patio that’s covered in the winter but it’s hard to use because it’s still super cold and it wreaks of cheap cigarettes. Even with all of that Charlie’s is a fun place to hang out and have a drink.

Avoid it for any special events involving live music and the staff are very friendly, decent food, and affordable drinks. It is not anything too special, but at least the waitstaff are personable and they turn the volume up for sporting events. If you do go on a live music night, pay cash and finish your drink well before close. They started yanking drinks for some, while still pouring for others at the last event I went to during the regional phenomenon known as Lakefair. Otherwise I think the owner has set up a solid sports bar, which, in Olympia is something of a rarity, and something of which to be proud.

Came in to watch a game as we were traveling through Washington. Of course we expected every tv to be on the Hawks. The place was buzzing and everyone was hanging a great time. Loved the energy. It’s been a while I’ve been in a place filled with one teams fans as I live in NV. Great service great time!

If you’re not from Olympia and want a true, clean, modern sports bar atmosphere and experience, this is the place (less pool tables and golden tee games, unfortunately). I love variety and culture, but this is the safe bet for consistency and cleanliness.

Okay, so we go out a lot in Olympia and I have to say, service is not a strong point, but I’ve learned to adjust out of necessity. But our visit here was by far one of the worst. My dad wanted to watch the baseball game, so we went to Charlie’s. Let me just say, if you put someone behind a bar, at least make sure they know what is actually in all those bottles.
My mom ordered a «brandy on the rocks.» The girl behind the bar said, «What’s that? Is that like a drink or something?» Really. That’s what she said.
We all looked at each other, and then around the room to see if there were hidden cameras or something, but no. She was serious. We explained that Brandy was a liquor, like gin or vodka. She then started picking up various bottles and reading the labels. She looked like she was in high school, that aside, she had no business being a bartender. After much searching, she picked up a bottle of brown liquid and said, «Is this it?»
Yes! We have a winner! Wow. I was actually a tiny bit embarrassed for her, but then realized she had no clue how incompetent she was. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

I’ve recently been frequenting Charlie’s more and more and telling my friends about it, but I’m not sure if I feel comfortable being a customer there considering the recent flux of confederate-​flag-​sporting patrons I’ve noticed hanging around/​parked outside/​etc.
In the very least it is in bad taste, especially considering the controversy around race currently in Olympia, and at the very worst I’m afraid to think that Charlie’s nurtures a racist customer base under the guise of some ‘white southern pride’.
I’d hate for Olympia’s only sports bar to fall victim to becoming ‘the spot’ for local white supremacists, and I won’t be coming by again until I feel certain that it isn’t.

Best restaurant in Olympia. .everything is pretty much house made. Great selection of beer and wine.
Great atmosphere and service. .so don’t tell anyone… so I won’t get to busy… and I will loose my seat at the bar.

Fantastic sports bar! They’ll even change one of the channels to out your team on if you are nice to the bar tender. They have a ton of TVs too. Food is tasty! Great staff. Pretty cheap beers too, although they don’t change their tap list very often. Had a blast every time I come here.

Lots of TVs. Perfect for watching football. However, the food wasn’t fantastic. I would go for the ambience but definitely not the food.

Had lunch there yesterday (Sat Jan 24, 2015). I ordered the Cleveland sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. Also ordered the happyhour Key Lime Pie martini. It was like dessert in a glass. Service was great, food was great, drinks were great. 2 meals, 3 drinks, all for under 40 bucks, thats a good deal!

Changing my review

This is my new place to hang out downtown. It’s clean nice and doesn’t have that typical grungy feel of other DT locations.
The remodel lightened the room and makes it feel more inviting. Tons of TVs to follow any sports.
Food is pretty good. And the service is nice too.

It’s a cool little sports bar, great beers and liquor selection, but the food is subpar. I got a patty melt and the burger patty was obviously a frozen patty from a box. It tasted like a burger you’d get in middle school. It’s a shame, because the rest of it was spot on.

The remodel is awesome! The food and service leave a lot to be desired. We’ve eaten here twice and both times have been «okay». The spicy chicken wrap I ordered came out tossed in ranch instead of anything remotely spicy. It wasn’t bad once a side of buffalo sauce came out.
They’ve got a great selection of beers… too bad the waitress has no idea what they are. I get that 20 is a lot to remember, but maybe it’s time to get a list up. We wanted to try the fried ravioli, but it’s only available as an appetizer that comes with fried zucchini and something else, not as a stand-​alone.
We went for trivia and sat with empty beers for a long, long time. It was moderately busy, but I think the waitress just forgot.
We’ll go back for more, but probably just for drinks, not for the food.

My new favorite place lots of big screens, friendly staff, lots of sports and good drinks.

Came here once before the remodel and didn’t think much of it.
After the remodel it looks great! I ordered their Hawaiian burger & a midori sour. The Hawaiian burger was ok, but there was too much teriyaki sauce and it made it super salty. I had to scrap most of it off. The midori sour was too sweet.

This is the new and improved Charlie’s. Lots of tv’s with sports, outside area with heaters, and a pretty good food menu. 20 beers on draft. It’s clean, simple, and gets the job done. If your looking for a crazy night, it’ll probably not happen here. If your looking for a «coyote ugly» type bartenders, chances are you’ll won’t see it. You’ll get good food, good prices, and good drinks.
