We went in here because we were disappointed that the pier wasn’t open yet, and that we needed taffy, and Goldenrod wasn’t open. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a young lady telling us about the store. We walked around, got some taffy, tried a piece of fudge of our choice, yum! My friend also tried something else that I chose not to. The staff was very friendly, it was nice to chat and laugh with them. The store is so clean, and really organized and easy to move around in. Smells good and reasonable prices. I will be back!

Great selection. Extremely overpriced. $ 6 for ¼ pound of chocolate? Give me a break. I placed three chocolates in a bag and already it weighed a quarter pound. Taffy was reasonably priced, but even grocery store available candies were noticeably marked up. If you come here, prepare to spend more than expected.

Ok, so the beach and taffy/candy stores go hand in hand right? Well one of the employees at this place(who I can only assume is the owner) takes what would be an average candy shop to the level of a nostalgic, delicious, indulgent piece of heaven. There’s a huge selection of candy from your childhood as well as taffy, and truffles of every kind. They also have ice cream and fudge. The employee who went out of her way to welcome us, offer a free piece of taffy of our choice then went on to tempt us with jelly doughnut fudge. I tried to resist, but one longing glance from my husband and we both gave in. The piece of sea salt caramel I sampled was phenomenal. No fake caramel flavor here, just the grit of the sea salt and hint of sweetness. So in summary I left here with more than just 4 different flavored cow tails, I also left satisfied with great service.

I’ve lived in Saco for a year but we rarely get to Old Orchard Beach. Today we decided to check it out, fully knowing most places would still be closed. We went for the Pier Fries but were won over by the candy shop. More specifically, the fudge. Let it be known, I like fudge, but don’t love it. I find candy store fudge always tastes the same, and it is usually just not exciting to me. When I walked into Dickinson’s I was greeted by very friendly staff that explained how items were grouped and prices. The woman I was talking with then mentioned fudge and I thought«no thanks» but she insisted I try the new flavor, Jelly Donut. Yes, Jelly. Donut. Fudge. I do like jelly donuts, or rather I like jelly munchkins, but it’s not my favorite donut. I can safely say it is my favorite fudge flavor. Ever. I was blown away. Seriously I’m not sure I can explain it in a way that will do it justice so just go get some. It was just so unexpected and yummy. Bravo, Dickinson’s, bravo! I did get a piece of chocolate coconut fudge as well which also knocked my socks off but since it is a more typical flavor, I am less surprised. I highly recommend giving them a try. Enjoy!

We have been going to Dickinsons for as long as I can remember — the taffy and the caramel corn are addictive!!! I have tried to eat taffy from other places and I just can’t — Dickinsons has made me a taffy snob :) Peanut butter taffy is my favorite but you really can’t go wrong here!

There are a couple of great candy shops in Old Orchard Beach and Dickinson’s also has great ice cream. Whether you like fresh fudge, chocolates, chewy candy, hard candy, blast-from-the-past candies or any other variety of candy, you are certain to find something to satisfy your sweet tooth here. Super service from very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of fudge and ice cream varieties. They often offer special deals too.

1st time in July 2014. Fantastic place to visit. Definitely a blast from the past with all the old time candies(mint juleps, squirrel nut zippers, bolsters, etc). The fudge is delicious, especially the raspberry chocolate combo. They also have cheese popcorn like no other. Definitely have to look the whole place over before deciding what to buy or you will go home with a large bag of treats. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Will make this a destination stop when in this area again. Take the time to stop in, well worth the trip down memory lane with all the different choices of treats. Have fun.

The best candy/ice cream store I have ever seen. There are free samples of 3 types of popcorn and many times samples of taffy or fudge or ice cream. Lots of «heritage» candy that people remember from their childhood(Pixie Stix and Goobers and gummy worms) along with high-quality local chocolates. The place is festively decorated and the staff are always very friendly. The guy that runs the place is usually there making sure that everything is clean and running well. They expanded their ice cream into a new room this year. It’s Shains of Maine, which is excellent ice cream. It’s a must-see in OOB! (They also have a smaller store down near the pier that I haven’t visited.)
