We had the Greek Combo for 2 — at $ 34 quite reasonable, included soup or a generous Greek Salad, warm fresh pita, and the best moussaka I ever had. Ever. They were out of the spinach pie, but the waiter let us know that up front and asked what we’d like extra of. We chose gyro meat and stuffed grape leaves(which were the biggest I’ve ever seen, and stuffed with a lamb/rice mixture. The Tzatziki(sp.?) sauce was excellent — freshly made, with lots of spice and scallions. A taste treat at a reasonable price.

My friends and I got out pasta dishes before race day, it was just what we needed. I got the Mediterranean pasta, plenty of fresh vegetables and feta cheese. Spaghetti were cooked just like they should. It’s not gourmet food but it does the trick. Service was on point. Recommended if you re in old orchard beach.

A nice find in OOB. We had the hummus, feta and tzatziki appetizer, greek salad and chicken parmesan. The hummus was flavorful and fresh, however the tzatziki was quite a bit of garlic. The greek salad was huge with plenty of feta cheese. The kids loved the chicken parm as the sauce was sweet and not acidic.

It was okay food for a pretty expensive price. The Greek Spaghetti was pretty good for a good price while the ravioli was below average. The service was great and very warm. I would consider giving it another shot!

Im surprised that I could not find more reviews about Chry’s. Its been around for 28 years and I guess it really is a hidden gem in the Old Orchard Beach food scene. Surrounded by French Fry and Pizza joints all around, Chrys hides out just off the main strip with a small dining room but some very good authentic Greek(and Italian) food. My wife and I stopped in at about 6pm on a Monday night just before the place began to fill up with customers. We started out with a sampler platter of Hummus, Yogurt Taziki, Feta cheese, olives and Pita wedges. The hummus was very creamy and nutty while the Taziki was also very creamy and garlicky(so garlicky that I continued to taste it hours later) Be aware of the Olives… they still contain the pits. The Feta Cheese came in a block drizzled with Olive Oil but it was not as pungent as some Feta Ive tried. For our main course Simone had a Greek Quesadilla and I had the Classic Greek Pistachio. The Quesadilla was two whole loaves of Pita bread with Melted Mozzarella, Feta,(pitted) Olives, Grilled Chicken and Tomatoes between them and grilled to a perfect crisp. This was salty goodness. My Pistachio was a combination of ground lamb and beef baked with Ziti Pasta and topped with a custard like baked Bechamel cream sauce. It was heavily seasoned with Nutmeg and Cinnamon and was kinda a mix between dinner and dessert. It was different but delicious. On the side was a Greek Salad with more Feta and Olives but missing the Dressing(oops). I just put some Taziki on it. Dessert was the perfect ending of flaky, rich, devilishly sweet and Nutty Chocolate and Plain Baklava. My only problem with the Baklava is that my wife would not let me have seconds. Overall this was a great meal with only a few mistakes and I would definitely go back as its a great alternative to the regular beach fried food.

The hidden Gem of old orchard. Go here I am not kidding I’m a big foodie. I live in nyc 8 months a year then come to oob to run a beach business. I’ve eaten in almost every restaurant in oob. You need to go to chrys’s everything is excellent here. this is authentic as Greek as you will get. The spanokapita great but the leg of lamb absolutely AMAZING. First time I ate here I asked the waiter can I personally thank the chef he said it’s my mom. He took me to the kitchen where this little old lady was cooking with her husband I thanked her for real delicious home food she hugged me offered me a piece of baklava also amazing and I have been hooked ever since. I know most people here in town want beach food… pizza fries ice cream but when you want a really good meal you make sure you come here to the best restaurant in town.

Excellent greek food. Unfortunately they close after Columbus Day, Spanokopita, gyros, dolmas, baklava and other greek fare is superb. Fresh feta cheese, fresh fruit infused lemonades and sangrias. A bit small, but definitely worth squeezing into.

We make sure to hit Chrys’s when in OOB. Good service, and homemade, dependably Greek food. Food for take-out was ready in 10 minutes.

Chrys’s Restaurant serves up hearty, homemade Greek food(and there are other, non-Greek dishes, also). Because it was the night before our Rev3 Tri, we(my wife and I) wanted food that wouldn’t present problems the following day – nothing worse than GI problems while out cranking on the bike, or running 6.2 miles(or in my wife’s case, 13.1!). I went with Chrys’s lasagna. A hearty portion of tasty, tomato-based and cheesy pasta goodness. This comes with a small house salad, which was perfect. My wife decided to keep it consistent and also went with the lasagna, while disappointed that the baked stuffed shells(manicotti) on the specials board was sold out. Our son, up to support Momtown and Dadtown was eating with us, and he went with Moussaka, which if you haven’t had it, is layers of minced beef, eggplant, and a creamy béchamel sauce, which is then baked. A bit richer than I was aiming for, but the taste I had told me that the version done by Chrys’s is an excellent one. We were all sufficiently stuffed, so we decided to order our chocolate covered cannolis to go. We had them later, and they were to die for. In fact, their pastry case has a variety of choices, including classic Greek pastries, like Baklava and the shortbread cookies common in Greek bakeries. In a town that sometimes is lacking for food options that aren’t fast food or take-out, Chrys’s is an excellent choice in OOB.

This was the absolute best place in Maine that my family ate in! No other place came close to it. We went there for dinner and had fried calamari, chicken soup, Greek salad with chicken, and Greek quesadillas. For dessert, we tried the baklavah ice cream. Everything was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the food and the friendly service so much that we went there the next day for lunch. Once again, everything was perfect: Greek salads, gyro, and even pancakes. We plan to eat there for breakfast tomorrow as we make our way back to New York, BRAVO for being such a hit for my entire family.

The food was really good but the prices were high for what you got. the menu said dinners come with pita and yogurt sauce but it didn’t. And the portions were kind of small

I’m going to say that all I got was a gyro — but it was the best gyro I’ve ever had. Seriously — this place should open up a walk up stand downtown and just sell gyros — they’d make a fortune! Also heard a customer walk in and get a salad to go and she raved about how amazing their salads are.

The food here is delicious and authentic. The atmosphere is very nice especially for downtown Old Orchard Beach. The waitresses are friendly and serve quickly. Great eating experience.

Who would have expected such a gem for greek food in such a tourist filled beach town. We were up for an adventure and found Chrys’s. We started with the Choriatiki salad as an appetizer and we were really happy we did. Everything was fresh and the olive oil was lightly drizzled not drenching the salad. We split the Greek combo platter fow two. We each ordered the chicken avgolemono soup. It was great. Piping hot and full of chicken and flavor. The variety of food was super. Wish they were closer to Attleboro we would be regulars. There were a lot of people that passed by and looked in but didn’t stop. Their loss. The food is great and the service is friendly.

My friends and I were vacationing in Old Orchard Beach and looking for a good place for breakfast. My memory of OOB from when I was a kid is that everything is either a fried dough/pizza stand or a run down beach bar. I was surprised to find an actual sit down restaurant. Chrys’ is your basic family-owned diner-style restaurant. By diner style I don’t mean«hey, 50’s theme diner!» I mean they have pancakes, eggs, bacon, sandwiches, burgers, and all the basics. The food was better than I expected for the Pier area, though we’re not talking about some gourmet paradise you’d travel from far away to experience. We’re just talking about the ability to sit down at a table and eat something aside from cotton candy or hot dogs on a stick. If you’re in OOB and looking for an actual sit down breakfast or lunch, Chrys’ is a good bet.

We had the breakfast here(which was great) last week and decided we had to go back for dinner. A family run business where we found out that mom does the cooking. The food really was great, I had the gyro platter; they do the«real» gyro on the spit, that is really the only way to have a gyro. My husband had the braised lamb shank which was tasty, falling off the bone. The atmosphere is really nice, the service great and next time we go back to Old Orchard Beach look forward to knowing where we can get a great breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Great Greek food with attention to customers and food presentation. We tasted the Gyro Platter and Gyro lunch plate, Mousaka, stuffed Greek burger, even the kids’ meals were tasty. We went back twice during our 10 day OOB vacation. When you’ve had enough of the typical New England fried fare, visit Chrys’ you will not be disappointed!

Stopped here for lunch today on the way to Portland before our flight back to California. Very convenient from the beach but not too crowded on a Monday afternoon. The food was good… we had some hummus and pita as an appetizer and the Gyros Sandwich and Chicken Souvlaki. The hummus and tzatziki sauce were excellent and everything was fresh. Will definitely come back if I’m in the area again.
