We returned to the OVI this past New Year’s Eve to dine and celebrate. This place changed things up and went with most other restaurants do on NYE– jack up the prices and have a limited menu. We did not have a reservation– but we got in fine– we were seated on the front porch overlooking the street, which was fine it was warm enough. We ordered the mussels to start. A small portion and very small in size(I noted this 5 years ago in my last review). They were flavorful but were hardly anything. Thank God for bread. Entrees were beef wellington– the classic. It was just ok needed seasoning and had to add salt. Side veg was overcooked. Service was spotty and the entire meal was underwhelming. Maybe I will return again in another 5 years.

We have been here several times and it previously was one of our favorite places for a quick bite and some drinks. It’s a very cozy bar. Service has always been hit or miss, usually pretty terrible. Recently we have been very disappointed with service and management. If you have more than a few people in your party, you aren’t welcomed here. On 3 different occasions we were told we couldn’t stay because we had 8 people. The bar wasn’t even packed, in fact there was an open high top table. We took our business elsewhere. I probably won’t be back, nor will the other 7 people that were turned away.

I can not express how upset I am with this restaurant. Myself and about 7 others went in last night looking to get a bite to eat and have a few drinks. The manager with glasses looked at us and before we could even say how many were in our party he said he can not accommodate us. In the bar are there was a 4 seat high top that was available which I asked if we could sit at. He told us no and said there were too many of us. What restaurant turns away 8 people who are willing to eat and drink for a few hours? We even asked if the other four could just stand around the high top until something opens up and the«manager» said no we can not stand around. Very disappointed with this restaurant and will definitely not be back. We took our business elsewhere and had a great time at another restaurant which accommodated our party. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. On a side note this was the third time we went to Old Village Inn over the weekend and were turned away due to the size of our party.

Food was very very good, especially the specials of the evening. Desserts were spot on as well. Service was good, not excellent but steady and just fine for us. Atmosphere is superb, felt like we were in the dining room of a well kept historical home. Bar scene seemed lively… but not so loud as to be bothersome to others or diners. Will definitely return the next time we are in Ogunquit.

A classy place with a lot of charm. It was a good choice. An old house with seating in numerous rooms. Ours was a window-filled sunroom. Meal was very flavorful. It was the special with lobster meat, mushroom, shrimp, artichokes over angel hair pasta. Delicious fresh baked rolls. Finally a meal that was worth the price in Ogunquit.

Don’t bother, as there are so many restaurants in Ogunquit that are so much better! The food is pedestrian at best, and the service is quite awful!

Server said bread yes we got bread two pieces of a baguette. I got the grilled shrimp salad it was a head of bib lettuce with a yogurt based dressing shrimp were small but grilled. Not bad for the price. Thought the restaurant was dated and dark. But it did give the feel of an old tavern/inn. Not bad, not great, just ok.

Ate dinner here tonight and it was beyond awful. This is the third time I’ve eaten here. The other times were, ehh, not awful, not great, but tonight was a different story. I went with my family, hoping for a nice night out, and instead had the worst meal of our vacation. My dad got the lobster special described as «a lobster cooked out of the shell and mixed with linguine…». I got the prime rib and my mom the lamb. The lobster came out and it was a couple of over cooked claws that were dry and the«light parmesan sauce» smelled overpowering and tasted bad. When we asked the waiter about where the rest of the lobster was instead of saying he’d talk to the chef or being polite in any way he became defensive and rude saying, «I never said you’d get a whole lobster,» and then walked off into the kitchen and didn’t check back in again except when it was time to put the check on the table. He didn’t send over the host or offer to take it off the bill. My dad tried to eat a little of the pasta. A few minutes later the bus person came and asked if we were all done. My dad sent back the pasta and the lobster uneaten. In the meantime, my mom’s lamb was pure fat and my prime rib was the thinest slice I had ever had and the cut was all nerve. I had the hardest time cutting through it and could only eat about ½. The inside of the popover that wasn’t burnt was tasty. Burning the popovers really seems to be their thing. The vegetable were so small a serving that the 6 green beans and single baby carrot really might as well not have been there at all. On the way out we mentioned to the host how disappointing the meal was. Also when you describe a special as a lobster cooked out of the shell it should be a lobster. What they have is lobster pieces and the pieces they did have were inedible. At least the host was friendly and kind enough to apologize. But it still wouldn’t be enough for me to give this place another chance. And now since arriving back to the hotel both of my parents have been ill. Do NOT eat here!!!

Bar was happening! Ate dinner in dining room, it was very quaint(almost like rooms in a large house). Dinners were fine. Just basic American style cooking. Prime rib, Chicken piccata, salmon, pork etc. Pub Menu was available also in dining room(sliders, fries).

Was here Saturday night for dinner. It is an old village inn… the fecor, menu and ambience are old fashioned. The dinner was okay. I had prime rib… it was adequate. The amount of vegetables was pathetic. I wouldn’t go back when there are better choices in the area.

Slow night off season in Ogunquit, ME Lack of open restaurants brought us here. Big mistake. Bartender/Waiter was aloof and condescending repeated wine list s if we were mentally challenged or spoke some foreign language. Ordered Lasagna wife ordered roast beef sandwich au jus. Lasagna must have been left over from last summer as was dry and well dreadful(it was deleted from bill as it should have been.) Sandwich was surprisingly very good, as it is hard to ruin a sandwich in any event.

Service is very friendly. Our waitress Michelle was great and was able to recommend a really nice red wine. The setting is kinda cute. There are different dining rooms with some nicer than others considering the age of the building. The food is meh. Nothing special, old fashioned, and similar to what you would get at a diner.

We chose the Old Village Inn restaurant for our one night in Ogunquit based on Unilocal reviews. We were so disappointed. It’s not awful, but it’s decidedly mediocre. Someone gives you one slice of bread if you ask for it; no one refills water glasses or asks if you’d like a second glass of wine; the chowder and entrees were lukewarm on delivery. The quality of the food was fair. This was a rainy night in October, so crowds weren’t the problem.

This is a very charming place for dinner. We ate here fairly late so they were out of a few specials which was unfortunate, but it happens. The staff weer nice. The ambiance was very nice. A bit dark but comfortable. The chowder was excellent. Not too thick or thin, but just right. I had the backed stuffed shrimp which was very tasty. I do love seafood stuffing and the stuffing was very very tasty. I also found the price to be very reasonable. I would definitely come back here again.

We had to stay unexpectedly due to car trouble. The innkeeper was so kind and got us a room quickly for a very reasonable price. It could not have been more conveniently located either! Possibly my favorite part was the cozy little room we stayed in. Absolutely quaint and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend it!

We arrived here rushed — trying to find a dinner before a show at the playhouse. Although the service was slow at first, once we told the man who seated us that we were in a hurry — everything sped right up. From the fresh baked rolls — the best I’ve had in a long time — to my haddock dinner to the coffee — everything was delicious. The service was quick and we had plenty of time to eat but wished we had more time to better enjoy our meals since the food was so good. We will go back — not rushed this time — to really savor our meals slowly.

After eating in a few of the old stand by restaurants we decided to give it a go here. We must say what a nice surprise, all the little things the other places missed. Table clothes, cloth napkins, water served at the table, warm bread and butter, just to name a few things. The food was great and included a potato and vegetable. This is how a place should be run and the others could learn from them. From the hostess to the bus person it was a pleasure to have such a polite and well trained staff.
