The food is good, and the location is great. But it can be very expensive, and the portions are small. Overall, good but not worth 5 stars.

As a once regular patron of this OGT establishment, I wanted to share my latest experience at this restaurant. A little history — my partner and I had been visiting M&C since its inception, several times a year. Always a nice treat for dinner on our excursions to OGT. However, after several visits we noticed that, even with reservations, we were always seated at the same table, the one closest to the kitchen but never near a window. On our last visit a few years ago, I requested that we not be seated at the table and were told there were no other tables available. From that day on we felt our money was better spent elsewhere. Back to the present — we recently purchased a home in OGT and this year decided that it would be time to give M&C another chance. It’s close to home and the food is always good. So we made a reservation about 2 weeks in advance. 7:30 New Year’s Eve for 2. I specifically asked that we not be seated near the kitchen. We arrived at 7:25. I took a quick look around and noticed there was no one waiting at the bar and there were several available tables. We approached the gentlemen at the desk who handed the menus to a hostess, who directed us upstairs to the bar area to a table facing the bar/TV — not exactly our idea of a lovely dinner on NYE. I asked if there were any tables downstairs and the hostess said«let me check, they’re for people who have reservations»! «I have reservations and I made them well in advance», was my reply. She brought us down the stairs and the gentleman directed us to «our table», now known as table 7(or 8, whichever we preferred). We were seated at table 7 — one table back from the kitchen. During our time there the other 3 tables with a view remained vacant for one hour when other customers arrived. I was furious. I truly believe that they save their more desirable seats for those who won’t complain(2 women). And, though I was unhappy, they won! We sat at the table that we didn’t want and made the best of our evening. We spent over $ 150.00 for dinner but it was tainted by our table. I wrote directly to the owners and received no reply so I felt the next thing was to post here, in hopes they will see my review and understand that in an establishment like M&C the view is part of the dining experience. I’m not sure exactly how I can ever get one of those sacred window seats but, unfortunately, I probably won’t be visiting again anytime soon to find out.

While the prices are a bit steep, the ambiance and location of MC Perkins Cove make everything on the menu worth an extra few bucks. I ordered a pork medallion special but really wish that I had gone for the lobster mac & cheese. Three guests at our table ordered it and were knocked out by how delicious it was. The pork medallions I ordered were cooked perfectly tender and juicy, but seeing my friends devour their mac & cheese dishes made me a bit jealous. The wine list was decent, but most of the wines were from California. As a Californian, I’m kind of hoping to see more diversity when I visit the East Coast. Maybe that’s just me. Overall, it was a nice meal, and the service was great. I’ll go again, next time I’m in Ogunquit, and will be sure to get the lobster mac!

I love this place but their Sunday brunch was not good. I started with a Bloody Mary. It was good but there was nothing special about it. Next I had three oysters on the half shell. These was fantastic. Now the problems start. I ordered the lobster Benedict. I asked the server to make sure the yolks were runny. The lobster and the hollandaise sauce were excellent. The English muffins were thick and dry. The yolks on the eggs were rock hard. I complained to my server and she apologized. One of the owners was sitting two tables away eating with some friends. I told my server the owner needs to spend more time in the kitchen than socializing. She nodded her head in agreement. At no time did the manager ever come to the table to apologize. When I left I asked to speak with the manager. He ended up taking ½ off the lobster Benedict. The server kept apologizing. I told her that was the managers job not hers. The server did a great job trying to make up an absentee owner and manager. I might go back but it won’t be for a long time.

With an unbelievable location in Ogunquit ME, this place hit the mark for me. I’m not a huge lobster fan(well i thought i wasn’t till i ate here) but the lobster roll and fries here were amazing. Just the right amount of mayo and seasoning and the sweetest, juiciest lobster i’ve ever had served with delicious fries very similar to chips i would get with fish and chips in England, perfect! At $ 21 for the lobster roll i thought it was reasonable for the location, you can get them cheaper but that’s what you get, cheaper. Nice bar and excellent service, all in all a very enjoyable lunch.

This restaurant is one of the jewels in the crown that Ogunquit ME is when it comes to great restaurants. And really, it is a tough competition, and I would put MC Perkins Cove right there, in a mix at the top with several others spread out in the cute little town. Location: Clearly the biggest highlight of this restaurant is it’s spectacular location. On a not so busy side street in Perkin’s cove, the restaurant is not too big but has strategically placed tables in the main dining area — overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, with a picturesque borderline of cliffs on both the sides. What a view! We ate at the 1st level and so not sure how the set up is on the floor above. I am sure that must be great too. Ambiance: As goes the view, the ambiance is very demure and is definitely catered towards more intimate meals. Most tables are set up for couples and the staff puts them together for bigger groups. We went during the day and hence cannot comment on the lighting but even during the day, the natural light coming from all sides through the tinted windows gives the place a very relaxing feel. Having said that, it is a great set up for couples and groups alike. Food: They have a great selection here. The sea food especially is very fresh and very much perfect. We tried quite a few starters and the oysters clearly stood out. I also loved the petite crab cakes especially since they were not too heavy and had a tartar sauce unlike I have ever had before. Just rich flavors and yet very subtle at the same time, a combination quite rare. Their drinks menu was quite spectacular too. The fruit infused martinis were very dangerous — in a very good way! Service: Service was good. The chef owners(Marc and Clark the couple and hence MC) made sure they were at each table checking on the guests and their meals. They were quite engaging and quite nice to discuss the philosophy behind their restaurant and their culinary inspirations. We even got to chat at length with Clark about his recent filming on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay. It was a fun conversation. They both were really kind and down to earth and it all reflected in their food which clearly seemed to have been prepared with lots of love and effort. Overall: It was a great meal and a simple yet beautiful experience. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion. And if there isn’t a special occasion planned, make it one by having a wonderful meal in a soothing ambiance with a beautiful view.
