Positives: The vibe, friendliness of waitstaff, very efficient in taking order and how long it took for the food to arrive. Needs improvement. The food, overall, was very tasty. Just what I had hoped for. I got the lobster stew and it was loaded with lobster, but it wasn’t as hot as I would have hoped, and also, it was $ 13.00 for a small cup. If you’re on a budget, I would steer clear from Barnacle Billy’s

Staying with some friends(Jim & MaryAnn) and the first day they take us to BB. What an experience! A whole lobster sitting in front of me whilst we sit on the dock of the cove. Being from So Cal, I not only enjoyed the lobster perfectly cooked, but tasted what I can only explain as freshness. If you are feeling a little adventurous and frisky, try a couple of the rum drinks. Wowza! Maybe if you are lucky, Taryn will be your waitress. She was a kick and made this review move from 4.5 to 5!

–2 points for well intentioned, but unorganized waiter. Several assistants mulling around but they need to be bringing/refilling water, clearing empty plates, so the wait staff can give better service to customers.(Expediters would tremendously help as well here.) We waited 10 min. for the order to be taken. Then more waiting for our food from our poor waiter who has to also deliver all food to tables, seemingly haphazardly scattered around the restaurant. Why am I going on about this?!? Because the cooks have it together much better than the dining room. Delicious lobster rolls. Excellent coke slaw, as I am a cole slaw snob who hates too much mayo, vinegar, pickle. Not here, just perfect. Decent fries. Good clam chowder, but missing something. Excellent scallops w/bacon in maple syrup. Simple but amazing. Hoping management has the wherewithal to organize things better here.

While visiting Boston my sister suggested a drive to Ogunquit for a walk along the«Marginal Way» which has great views of the ocean front and the«New England» lifestyle. We stopped at «Barnacle Billy’s» for lunch. As a tourist I found the restaurant to be an ideal fast seafood stop. You place the order at the counter, seat yourself and they call you when the order is ready. Both my sister and I had lobster rolls which were excellent. A great place to have a bite as you enjoy the views of Perkins Cove.

A coworker highly recommended this place for dinner and told us to get the rum punch. Upon arrival we learned that you seat yourself and have to go up to the kitchen to place your order. Then you go back to the kitchen again to pick it up when your number is called over the intercom. While the punch was nice and strong and totally worth $ 8.50, the food was nothing special and the menu was very small. The staff was nice and we had a great view on the patio but we weren’t fans of the self service.

When a restaurant is going south they just stop caring. No pride, no ownership, nothing. As less and less people come… Just raise the prices. First observation was a bowl of clam chowder for $ 10 bucks. Must be great for $ 10 bucks right? Wrong, tasteless and mediocre at best. Second observation, the cucumbers on my salad had rotten spots! How much does a whole cucumber cost anyway, .50 cents. Third thing that caught my eye after a disappointing meal that was to celebrate my moms eightieth birthday was the date on the tartare sauce, March 13th!!! It’s freaking May 20th for gods sake. I brought all this to the waitress’s attention who’s said she would inform the manager. The manager came out from the back and just stared at us!!! Nothing, no apologies NOTHING! Went to this place years ago and it was great. Now nobody cares anymore. Total ripoff. Spend your money elsewhere.

Love celebrating Mother’s Day at Barnacle Billy’s. Every May our family looks forward to a memorable drive from Needham, a beautiful walk along the water, then a delicious meal of Bloody Mary’s, Chowder and amazing Lobster! We have made it our tradition… you should too! See you in May 2016!

Must stop and enjoy the outside deck! Rum punch and chowder — that’s all you need for a perfect afternoon. Rum punch is awesome and 8.50 so a good deal. Any more than 2 and you will be looking for a nap/designated driver. Food prices a bit high for what you get but the view is priceless A favorite spot!

I grew up in Wells and never went to Barnacle Billy’s; I moved to California and now Billy’s is a must every time I’m back. Yes, it’s a little expensive, but the food is good and you and smack dab in Perkins Cove. Love this place!

My partner and I had a late lunch Saturday afternoon around 2:00pm. It was the second weekend Barnacle Billy’s was open for the 2016 season. We were surprised it was busy and the tables on the outside deck were full, so we sat inside with a view of the channel leading to the ocean. We ordered 2 — 1.5 lb lobsters, cup of clam chowder, salad and rolls. The lobsters were delicious dipped in melted butter. The clam chowder tasted fresh and the salad was very basic, but tasty. I had a beer and my partner had the rum punch which is specialty at the restaurant. Barnacle Billy’s is must stop each time we visit Ogunquit.

Love the food here! The salads are yummy and the chicken with fries is so good! They have a good menu with a big selection. The service is very fast and friendly. The view from the window is very pretty. Would recommend.

You cannot visit Perkins Cove without paying a visit to Barnacle Billy’s! Located right along the water, you can order/pay from a selection of seafood choices and choose your seating. They’ll call your number once your order is ready for pick up. Try getting a seat outside so you can watch the boats! I personally always get the boiled lobster. Amazing, sweet meat dipped in melted butter! Clam chowder is also delicious.

Excellent lunch” We enjoyed an excellent lobster lunch at Barnacle Billy’s, etc., which is next to the faster food Barnacle Billy’s. The view is over the water.

A trip to Perkins Cove is not complete without Barnacle Billy’s Lobster Roll! The steamers are delicious also! So glad to hit this location before they close for the season! Consistent fun and quality year after year! Will be back next season! Cheers!

Outrageously expensive but that is par for the course up here in Maine. We were wrong to think lobster would be cheaper at the source! They definitely take advantage of the tourists. My advice is to go off the beaten path and try to find someplace cheaper-all the lobster rolls in Maine are great! We’re trying Port Lobster Co in Kennebunkport tomorrow because the prices are more reasonable. But I still think if you got away from this area, prices would be better. All that being said, the mussels were insanely good and it was a good lobster roll! No clam strips on the menu :-(. They also have a signature spiced rum punch that’s pretty strong if you like that type of stuff. All in all, beautiful waterfront location and good food. But you will pay top dollar.

I went here all the time growing up and always loved it. I came back here for the first time in years after moving away. The clam chowder is still great but everything is so expensive. Portions sizes are so small. Got the $ 5.95 «tossed salad» to go with my chowder. it was terrible. Just a small pile of nasty lettuce.

Super fun place! In Perkin’s Cove area, the place was quite unique. You have to order and pay for the food up front as soon as you enter the joint. And take a seat at one of the tables and wait for someone to announce your order number while you are waiting. In the meantime, there is table service for you to enjoy one of their specialty cocktails. And trust me — some of them advertised as specials are really special. Top of that list — The Rum Punch! Simply awesome. Be careful how many you intend on gulping down. Wait a minute — let’s just say that you are being cautioned. Be careful how many you unknowingly end up gulping down. Those cups of delicious rum and the right amount of mixers — it is a sizzling drink! And so is the Pina Colada. I am not a big Pina Colada person. Nor am I big Rum punch guy for that matter. But both of those drinks at BB’s are the highlight! Or at least they were for us and the wonderful time we had there. And can you blame the view if you are lucky to get one of the window tables? The staff is not only attentive and making the rounds — taking orders for next rounds and keeping the tables clear of all the very rapidly emptying cups, some of them do put in a real effort in bringing a very 80’s vibe to the place — thanks to the way some of them were dressed at least. Can’t be very descriptive — actually can be, but then it would make the experience very predictable for you and I could come across as — way too descriptive than I am supposed to be. See it for yourself about what I mean ;-) The food was good too. A bite of the lobster roll that I got from one of my peeps — gave me a definitive idea of how decent the food is here. Really, you do the lobster roll right — chances are that you must be doing pretty much everything right. That’s Barnacle Billy’s for ya! In a nutshell. A must go to while in the very beautiful Ogunquit /Wells area :)

MMM! Steamers and clam chowder! I came here last weekend with my friend and it was awesome. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the view. The service was quick and everything was very tasty. We split the steamers and it was enough for two. The clams were on the small side but they were good. The chowder was great. Very creamy and full of delicious bits. The rum punch was really strong :). I highly recommend ordering 1 or 2. I also ordered a cheeseburger. It was very average. This is definitely one of those places where you should only order seafood.

Just horrible. Went on a Friday night in July to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. Prices are very expensive for food that is very mediocre. Ordered whole belly clams which came with your choice of potato. The clams were $ 26, and when my food arrived they were not whole belly clams but rather steamers. I explained to the waitress that she must have placed the wrong order but she assured me this was mine. I explained that the food I received was not clams but actually steamers and I was told that they were clams. Last time I checked, clams didn’t have a small black protrusion per say that comes off from them. A restaurant shouldn’t advertise something and then substitute something completely different. The dish was primarily batter and oil. Very poor quality for the price they charge. I have eaten here over the years at least once during my stay and have always had a good meal. Something has really changed between 2 years ago and now. My two other friends each got fish and chips and said it was«ok». In my opinion, check out the many other seafood restaurants that are in the area. Barnacle Billy’s has built a reputation over the years, but the food quality is no longer that of the past in my opinion. And for what it is worth, I called to try to make reservations, and was told«I’m sorry, we are much too busy in the summer, we do not do reservations». Apparently it’s about volume. Maybe that explains what happened to the great food of the past that they served. Giving two stars because the location is very nice overlooking a small harbor.

You know something is good when months after eating it you and your friend still talk about how delicious the food was. That was the position my best friend and I found ourselves in when we started talking about our Boston trip and how lucky we were to get the chance to go up to Maine and see the lighthouse and eat the most amazingly fresh lobster ever. We opted to sit outside by the water because it was a very pretty and sunny day. The only problem was that it was slightly windy so we had to hold down all our napkins and things that would fly away because I did not want them flying in and polluting the water. I like their outdoor patio, it’s right along the water and is very comfortable and relaxing. You order up front and then go take a seat. My best friend got the lobster and my other friend got the clam chowder. She said the clam chowder was good but hands down the lobster was amazing. Mmmm, the lobster was so delicious, I could taste the sea it was so good. It was juicy, sweet, fresh and very flavorful. I did not even use the little cup of melted butter that they gave me. Yes, it is a little on the pricey side, about $ 25 for my lobster but it was so delicious and I was on vacation so why not? My best friend and I will probably always reminisce about how good the lobster was, that is until we come back or find a good substitute in SoCal.
