Ye Olde Cupcake Shoppe

The cupcakes here left me wanting of something with more flavor. I make it a habit to visit all the bake shops I can and was very excited to see Ye Olde, but my husband’s and my experience here was overall pretty awkward. The elderly couple working the store were very talkative with the couples before and after us, but avoided chatting with my husband and myself altogether. After recently moving to Utah I became familiar with this type of (avoidant) behavior, but it still baffles me a little.
Regardless I kept a cheery outlook when I sat down with my tall cupcake, but deflated when I tasted it. I’d definitely say it is better than Sweet Tooth, and the price is nothing but fair. The moistness of the cake is probably its best quality, but there was honestly no flavor whatsoever to the cake itself. No hint of sweetness, or taste of salt, if anything I’d say it tasted more like a muffin than a cake. Granted I love muffins, but it definitely wasn’t what I expected from a cupcake.

My 3^rd trip into this cupcake shop and they are still just as amazing as the first visit!

Awesome cupcakes with an equally awesome staff. I would definitely recommend. They have a rotating selection of cupcakes so there is a different option each time with the exception of a few favorites that are made everyday.

Best cupcake shop I’ve ever been to. I loved the shape and size of their cupcakes, the old gentlemen helping me was very friendly and nice. This is the only place to buy cupcakes for me now.

These are the best cupcakes! Significantly better than The Sweet Tooth Fairy! Delicious cupcakes with great flavor and texture in both the cake and frosting! They are pricey which is the only thing that will keep me from going very often. Worth a treat now and then though :)

The best cupcakes I have ever tried. Seriously! My only complaint would be that they are a little pricey. The Better Than Sunshine cupcakes are divine.

Cute little shop. The guy at the counter was very nice and didn’t mind answering all the questions or dealing with my kids indesisiveness. We bought a half dozen. They were very yummy. Pricey. So I don’t think I’d ever order enough for a large party. But great for a sweet treat.

We love this cupcake shoppe. There are flavors that appeal to young and old. None of my family have gotten a flavor that isn’t delicious. We stop here whenever we are in town for a very special treat. Absolutely love the Better Than Sunshine cupcakes.

Their sugar cookie cupcake has changed my life (and my waistline) forever! Mexican hot chocolate is another favorite. Always a delight.

Tried it for the cupcakes and come back for the frosted sugar cookies. Ho-​lee-​smokes! They’re almondy delicious… and are my go-​to sweet treat in Ogden. I’ve been in and out probably ten times over the last few months and get a few for friends and family when they deserve a sugary gift. Their cupcakes are good and probably the best I’ve tried in the area so far but the cookies keep them at the top of my list for local bakeries.

Best cupcakes ever! Try their Mexican hot chocolate, or better than sunshine :) it’s soooooo good. As an awesome plus, the owners are the nicest people!

This cupcake shop really saved the day for me. After desperately searching for a bakery that sold gluten-​free goods I immediately fell in love with this particular shop.
Their customer service was really impressive as they helped me design my parents surprise anniversary cake. It was a gluten free, white cake with bavarian cream filling, buttercream frosting, and fresh fruit. Sound delicious? It was!
The 6-​in seemed small but it lasted us a couple days because it was tall. I soon found out that I really did get my money’s worth for the quality and care.

Went in here once, but I mentioned cupcake wars. This was a big mistake. The guy went off on how cupcake wars is staged and not good. I didn’t like hearing this about one of my favorite shows.

They had many flavors, and I’ll call them fancy flavors because there wasn’t one plain kind of cupcake. That was unique! But I kind of wish there had been a simple chocolate or vanilla flavor, we aren’t big on mixing a lot of new flavors in. We’re sort of boring.
We ordered a peanutbutter chocolate cupcake. The only complaint about the cupcake itself is it was slightly bigger than a mini cupcake. For the price I’d like a regular size cupcake. Other than that, the cupcake itself was good. The frosting was good, not too sugary. The cupcake was pretty good!

This is a Awesome bakery!!! Called from California to get some cupcakes delivered locally to my sister for her B-​day! Service was wonderful McKenna was patient went over all the different choices and assured me she would make it pretty for me!!! Pricing was really fair. cupcakes were delicious (so I heard).delivery was fast!!! My sister was very happy. I highly recommend this place… this is what customer service should be … Other bakeries should take notes!!! Definitely on my list to visit when I visit!

It’s pretty unreal how tasty these cupcakes are. They are more dense than the cupcakes you find at other shops (which is a good thing, trust me). They offer a bunch of different flavors, and their frosting is amazing as well. This is one of my O-​town stops whenever I’m up there.

Located in The Junction at 2352 Kiesel Ave. in Ogden, many of Ye Olde Cupcake Shoppe’s cupcakes are like an illicit drug absent of diminishing returns. They are moist, have great flavor and are aesthetically pleasing with a taller shape, not being baked in traditional cupcake cups. The shop itself was clean and had a warm feel to it. The cupcakes come in varying sizes which I appreciate because I prefer sweets in smaller portions. My favorite cupcake flavors in order of excellence: 1. Carrot Cake (awesome texture and flavor) 2. Maple Bacon (really delicious maple flavor)

It’s not JUST the cupcakes here, it’s the people whom make and serve them. Shelly and Steve give all of their heart to this business. Be assured, every bite you take will be filled with love and happiness. You’ll never regret a purchase here for a gift, special occasion or just a treat! Enjoy!

I’m completely baffled by all these people saying the cupcakes are too expensive. $ 2.59 for their small size — and at just about any other cupcake place, you’d be paying at least $ 1 more! Definitely well-​priced by cupcake shop standards.
Now, onto the reason for my 3 star review… I sampled the salted caramel and it was okay. Nothing remarkable. The chocolate cake was flavorful but dry. It was better than a boxed mix or a grocery store cake, but definitely could’ve used a bit more moisture and wow in flavor. The frosting was also just okay. A little too sugary and not chocolatey enough. The caramel topping tasted like a store-​bought ice cream topping — too sweet and not that lovely, buttery caramel you would like on a salted caramel cupcake. The salt was just the right amount.
The ambiance of the shop was great. Cute place for meeting friends.
Bottom line — fulfilled my cupcake craving, but I probably won’t be back.

Yummy cupcakes… moist cake and just the right amount of icing! We tried the Boston Crème and the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cupcakes and they both were great!
