MMM the empanadas are sooo good, very moist inside and crisp on the outside. Very friendly staff and lots of yummy treats.

Pampas is a small, family-oriented business tucked into the bottom of a shopping center. You have to keep a close eye to find it, but it’s worth the hunt. The baked Argentine goods: alfjores(puff pastry with dulce de leche) and empenadas are awesome(I prefer the beef to the chicken). You may have to wait a minute or two, but probably more because this is a Mom & Pop operation, so the owners do everything… just how I like and what I grew up in. Also recommend the Beef Milanesa. Recommend if… A) You have never eaten an alfajore… delicioso! B) Have a hunkering for fried meat(milanesa). C) Want to support family businesses, which always tug at my heart.

I wish i could review the food but just getting a table and someone to talk to us was impossible so we left. We walked in, no one said hi no one said a thing or even looked at us so we looked around and found a table to sit at. We sat down and waited about 10 minutes before a guy said i’ll be right with you. We waited another 5 while watching the staff just talk with people leaving and do nothing so we got up and left. Wont be going back.

I haven’t had any meal items here, just baked goods. Go here for the most delicious, fresh alfajores ever! Before discovering Pampas I’d only had packaged alfajores from an argentinian grocer a co-worker would bring from time to time. The fresh version is to die-for.

The food is amazing. Well, actually I’ve had better empanadas(much better) but their’s weren’t bad. The fracturas and alphajors(I know everything is spelled incorrectly) were really good. They need to work on their operations and english. I’ve gone in and it was very obvious that they helped all the people that spoke spanish first. We waited for our food for about 20 minutes and it was just a sandwich. It was a good one but definately not worth the wait. I want to support them because I think they’re honestly trying to do a good job and have a successful family business. Their sandwiches and desserts are great and that’s a great place to start.

OK, full disclosure: I lived in Argentina for a while, so I have a soft spot for anyone daring enough to open up an Argentinean restaurant in Utah. I tend to give them more slack that I would at other places. Most of the Argentine restaurants in Utah follow the same business model: impressing the general public isn’t their number one priority. Many of them can survive just off of returned LDS missionaries longing for a taste of Argentina, as well as the Argentine ex-pats who now call Utah home. Because of this fact, sadly, most don’t even really try to make their places aesthetically appealing to the general public. Which brings me to Pampas. Pampas opened a couple weeks ago, and they are definitely still working the kinks out. They moved in the basement of a building in what had to have previously been a bar. The owners(husband and wife) are always there and are super-friendly. Their baked good(facturas) are fantastic. You have to try the croissant filled with dulce de leche. I’m going to give them some time to work the bugs out before I give them a full review. They are still getting their grill up and running so their lunch menu is still a bit limited.
