The Barn Door Steak House

So disappointed in the customer service and food. I made reservations for 27 (10 15 year old girls) a week in advanced, I also verified the day of.
We get to the restaurant and we are seated in the main dining room, which is fine by us. But they only gave us one server which you could see she was overwhelmed at least that’s what I’m blaming her rudeness and lack of customer service skills too. In the middle of dinner the manager came over leaned over and pretty much told us to shit up that we were being loud and the other customers complained (one snotty girl) and he didn’t bother to introduce himself until we asked and who are you? He stated I can’t make you be quiet but you need too. Several of our meals were cold, undercooked and took forever to get since there was only one server. First you knew a large party was coming in with teenage girls so why weren’t they prepared? And if they knew a party of that size was coming why not seat us somewhere that was «out» of the way. Total fail!!! We will not be dining there again.

The service was horrible, was seated and waited 15 mins, no one asked what we wanted to drink or had our drink order been taken, ive NEVER walked out of a resturant, i did this one, they had 5 – 10 helpers not waiters placing cheese and bread and not one could even ask! will go get a steak somewhere else!

Not worth the prices, 10oz ribeye, not a think one 21.99 baked loaded potato, dry old. Not again!

Was really disappointed with the food and prices. Not much food for such a high price. I left the place hungry and a lot less money in my pocket. I ordered ribs and the underside was burnt. Save your money and go to a better stake house.

I saw this place featured on «Fluffy Breaks Even» and since we were passing through here, we had to stop here.
Food: The steaks are seasoned PERFECTLY and cooked beautifully. Also, appetizers are more than plenty, so don’t order too much for just 2 people. The huge block of Wisconsin’s finest cheddar along with fresh made bread is spectacular as well. You won’t be disappointed.
Restaurant ambiance: The restaurant is nicely kept. I didn’t quiet get the theme tho, but it’s nothing bad. One thing I LOVED is that the table next to us had few young children, and this guy with a satchel bag came by, and started entertaining the table with magic tricks. Say what you want about the «magic tricks», but this old guy was fantastic, and it was nice to see him making kids so happy.
I would most definitely come here again.

Good chicken fried steak. Had a bottle of Chianti — from Texas, and bottled in New York?
I was looking forward to the block of cheese the bring to your table, but was only served cheese slices. After asking our waitress, we experienced the block of cheese.
Service was slow, but it is a busy place.
I’ll go back and try the steak. Let’s hope service is better.

Absolutely love love love love this place… Oh and did I mention I love this place? Their burgers are to die for! Extremely delicious !! Works for any budget, things can be a bit pricey, but hey when the oil field is booming who cares ! If your on a budget you can still take advantage of their delicious food. During lunch you can order a bowl of the soup and they bring you a block of cheese and bread. If you do this I recommend leaving your waiter, waitress, a good tip. Trust me you will not be disappointed in this place. I don’t give 5 stars usually but this place definitely deserves it.

This place was outstanding the steak the cheese blocks the mac and cheese is five star worthy overall 5 out of 5 5lb cheese blocks yes i said 5lb complementary cheese blocks!!!

The cheese and bread was great, the food was good but small portions. However, we had 8 people and kept having to pass it around the table until we asked for one for the other side of the table. One person’s order came out a good 20 minutes before everyone else’s and our server was horrible. Her personality and her service had a a lot of room for improvement. We were going to order a pie, but it took her so long to come back to our table we said forget it and just got our check.

We stay in Odessa one weekend per year for the Airsho and decided to try the Barn Door this time. If I were rating the atmosphere, it would get one or two stars. The ’70’s called and they want their western stuff back. Seriously, the place could use an update.
The food and the service, on the other hand (and that is what we went there for), was excellent! We had the filet and Seaside (crab cakes and shrimp) and the two of us kinda divided it all up so we could have some of each.
If I were rating the food alone it would get all five stars.
We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and ate all of it. Service was very good also.
Kyleigh waited on us and got us everything we needed.
Would we go there again? Yes.
Would we recommend it to others? Yes.

An old fashioned food service not seen anywhere. After you get seated, you immediately get a very good cup of soup, hot and with a slice of toast. My 7-​oz steak was very thin but medium as I asked. fresh bread is the kind you want, moist, great. I actually make the exact same thing at home. great to take home for toast. All items were perfect. A tad long of a wait for me. 19-​minutes for lunch is kinda tough, but worth the wait. The salad is always a monster, crisp green, crispy chicken, a must for salad lovers. Debbie was great. A seasoned wait person, sweet, friendly. She clarififed what my son had asked for. A true professional. My kids want to make this place a regular. Always get the hay stack!

Jeremy was a helpful waiter. We used a Groupon and got loads of food for $ 26. Come in the afternoon and get free cheese along with bread and delicious soup!
Ordered the garlic crusted steak tips. Discovered I don’t really like garlic crusted steak. On the other hand, the soup was terrific and the onion blossom side was delicious.

Really bad customer service, food, long wait times, and over priced for everything. Our waitress all but disappeared when we needed the check ! When I was leaving a man (the owner) said oh thanks for coming ! Yeah right mister we will never return!

Very delicious food! Block of cheese was very unique. Very cool atmosphere within a historical context! Chicken Salad was delicious! Waiters were more than helpful.

They would get a 4 star, but the service was horrendous, the décor as 1960s, and the place smelled of a nursing home. The steak was actually cooked to perfection and the loaded potato skins are a must try. The cheese block on the table is very interesting and unique.

Great food, great services, great historic place. Love it so much. Bread with butter and cheese makes different!!!

Good steak and cool ambiance. The restaurant is huge and has tons of seating. I will definitely come back next time I am passing through town.

Everytime I am in town I go here. They have a great concept for an appetizer, hot buttered bread and a block of cheddar to slice pieces off of it. Yummy. The atmosphere is also very charming, resembles an old western saloon… pretty authentic too. The service and food has always been consistent as well.

Delicious steak, my ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection! They also have the BEST sides for a steakhouse: Mac and cheese, fried okra, baked potato, fresh veggies, etc. I love desserts so of course I ordered the pecan pie and coconut crème pie. The pecan pie was so tasty! They also place a large block of yummy cheese at the table, I love cheese… :)
The reason I give them 3 stars is their salads, coconut crème pie, and prime rib. I added a ranch side salad to my meal and I swear to you the lettuce was frozen! It was the nastiest salad I’ve ever eaten in my life. Well, tasted because I obviously didn’t eat it. Everything on the salad was NOT fresh and discolored. It might have been a healthy hazard… Also their coconut cream pie tasted like coconut flavored plastic. I also know their famous for their prime rib but my friend ordered, and it tasted funny.

Ahh The Barn Door, an Odessa favorite! I visited here recently during the lunch hour and the food and service was great! My review goes as follows…
First the service, our waitress was attentive, our sweet teas were never empty, she refilled our warm bread without question, just a tip, no free cheese during lunch hours. :(
Now for the food, I ordered the lemon pepper grilled chicken and it was juicy bursting with flavor. It also included some rice and a side of baked potato which was very delicious, a great portion of food for the peak of the day!
Overall great food, service and if your craving steaks, ribs, or grilled chicken, I strongly recommend The Barn Door, an Odessa favorite! Also a great getaway from eating at a chain restaurant!
