La Bodega Mexican Restaurant

The only reason I wouldn’t give them a 5 star is because their red sauce for their chili rellanos taste like spaghetti sauce from a jar/​can, it’s not a real Mexican red sauce. Nachos are still awesome!

I grew up going to La Bodega. Like all restaurants, they have good and bad nights… but their recipes are like no other place in the world. Our most recent visit was today, after a brief shutdown (couldn’t keep help) and I’m pleased to say… the food was top notch. La Bodega may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it will always be one of my favorites.

This place wasn’t at all what my friends had made it seem. They said the nachos and queso were awesome, so that is what I ordered. I had the Combination Fajita Nachos and it was something I feel like I could make better at home. The nachos were over powered with guacamole, sour cream, and rubbery melted cheese. The chicken and steak pieces were dry and the portion was huge! 2 people couldn’t even finish it, but it wasn’t worth taking home. The queso tasted mostly like melted Velveeta cheese. I added my salsa to the queso to make it a little better, but never finished that either and usually I can polish off and bowl of queso. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was clean. It seemed to be pretty busy for a Friday lunch hour, but I wasn’t impressed. Plus, just a few weeks ago, there was a story on the news of a shooting that took place in the kitchen… classy huh?

All service in the Odessa Midland Area is awful, we get it. Maybe you could get the staff to keep their hands out of and away from the mouth region before and or after touching my plate? That’s fairly disgusting, and the joys of getting to watch the 1 waitress also pick food from her teeth on the way towards me… Be still mine beating heart. What quality individuals you find in this world.
My order was missing about 30% of it’s ingredients, and this is all after super lackluster attention beforehand. Why on earth did a manager have to go get my beer (a domestic on special) from the back? I eat in the bar area, where they supposedly serve beer?
The only reason I don’t rate a simple one star and walk away, my friends food was perfect and they raved about it.
As one who frequents this locale over the years I am deeply saddened by tonight’s dinner, and sadly dread a return to one of Odessa’s staples for Mexican food. Here’s hoping you turn it around???

The food is not all that. I’ve eaten at the one in Midland location too and it was not any different. Not sure what kind of style of «mexican» their food is, but I did not care for it.

We eat there often — and just had dinner there tonight. Good food and very pleasant staff!

I have eaten at this restaurant over the years and it has been good. Today I ate there for lunch and I ordered the Spanish shrimp cocktail; I have never done this before but the taste was so terrible to me I sent it back full. I had only taken a couple of bites. When I got the check they refused to take the shrimp cocktail off. The reason being I did not complain that «it was sour» i had complained it was bitter tasting. I would understand if I had eaten it, but like I said I could not even eat it and how they handled the situation rubbed me «sour!»

I love this place, I recently took a trip to Texas to visit family and this was our first stop, I have been talking about the chile rellenos nonstop for months to my boyfriend, we went in and were NOT disappointed. If I were rating the service and atmosphere, I’d probably give this place three stars, but the quality of food is always there and will not let you down.
Go here often, order nachos and the beef chile relleno with green sauce instead of red sauce. They have raised their prices quite a bit, but I think they’ve done it because they know that what they have going is addictive and people will pay for it!

Nacho supreme: I ordered the small size which I was only able to finish about half of it. It was OK. Not spectacular but not terrible.
As for now, I’ll continue to search for great nachos.
Service was decent.

Outstanding Mexican restaurant! La Bodega has been the best in town for years, and still is! Make the drive over — it’s worth it!
