Great cheesesteak sandwiches. Very personable and the price is right! When I see county workers and commuters here I knew right away it was the place to go. Thank you!

I don’t do reviews quite often but this place definitely deserves one. We have been getting sandwiches from here for quite awhile. I literally CRAVE this place. The fresh toppings that are always loaded between amazing chewy bread, having me coming back for more. The staff is always outstanding. It’s our little hidden deli gem and beats subway hands down! Not to mention VERY wallet friendly!

As a MARC commuter, I’m around this area a lot. Almost every weekday to be exact. So the claims about smells seemed odd, because nothing in the surrounding area has a strong/pungent odor to it. I paid close attention to smells as I approached the store but didn’t notice anything. I figured maybe there was something strange going on the day the other reviewers were here. Sure enough, when I opened the door and stepped in… WHAM! Best way to describe it is stale urine. It definitely knocked my appetite down a few notches. Who wants to eat with that smell wafting around? I ordered my sandwich and a chicken tender platter. Sandwich was incredible, although they forgot to ask me about type of bread. The chicken tender platter was a huge let down. According to their menu you receive 2 side orders and a dipping sauce. Ours came with french fries, not a side we picked. It consisted of two fairly large pieces of chicken, but with only two of them I didn’t feel it was worth $ 6. If you can stand the smell for a bit, they do offer great tasting sandwiches. There are a few tables and chairs around the place, so you don’t have to sit inside and eat(thank goodness!) if you want to hang around.

Unassuming little store that is not really a deli, but sort of a deli. Unilocaled deli and they popped up in the Odenton area, so we decided to give it a whirl. We got a reuben on rye and a BLT. Both were pretty good, but the store’s odors left a bad taste in my mouth. There is a stagnant water pond right behind them, and I assume that the pond is a major contributor to the ungodly smell inside the store… well, at least I hope it wasn’t a sanitation issue instead.

Great little deli with grill! New store! Prices are great and the food freshly prepared. Friendly efficient staff. Daily specials. Lots of blue collar folks get breakfast and lunch there.

Stopped in for lunch and had a great turkey sub at a reasonable price. Obviously family run and very nice service. The lady at the counter even seemed to know a couple of the customers by name. You know your in a good place when they know the local customers by name. Even if you just need a drink from the coolers, skip the walgreens and give them a try.

I have some seriously mixed feelings about my first experience at Rieve’s. I’ll try to be concise by listing the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Good: I got the chef’s salad and it was fresh. I mean every bit of vegetables from lettuce to onions to green peppers tasted like they went out back to pick it this morning. The deli meat, a serious problem at Mona’s in an earlier review, was quality meat. I rated this restaurant based on the food because it was that good. The Bad: No seating. They make the food fresh in front of you, but don’t give you anywhere to eat it. Even the pit beef place next door has a couple of picnic tables to eat at. Fortunately, it looks as though the building that houses Rieve’s is going to be physically moved to another part of this parcel and a new building with outdoor seating should be built according to the Odenton Town Center Master Plan. But for now, you have to get it to go and figure out somewhere else to eat it. Also, it’s a problem for me that they don’t accept credit cards for food purchases(only convenience store sodas, chips, etc.). The Ugly: The building smells just a bit. It’s a historic building(literally protected as such) and smells like it. Don’t get me wrong, this place is very clean and I’m sure it’s super sanitary. But it smells a bit musty as any building sporting this much age would. The verdict is: Go for the food, bring cash, and plan your getaway to a spot where you can eat it.
