Great new place in the Waukesha county area. I had the Hog wild drummy appetizer. It was very tasty and unique. My husband had the burger and he loved it. They do offer many choices on the menu. We also tried the craft brew flight. The beers were very tasty. The server/bartender Shannon was courteous and attentive and the restaurant/bar was clean and organized. While we were eating the owner Allen came by, introduced himself, and thanked us for stopping in. We were curious about U Brew University attached to the restaurant that offers an opportunity to brew your own craft beer. Sounds like a fun thing to do with a group!

Love the shrimp skewers! Made to order… Don’t like spicy… So they made the shrimp just right…

I went here for some food and beverages. My party had one Thai flat bread pizza and a steak sandwich. They had a good selection of beers that they did not brew. I found the sandwich to be a very good and it was a little better than the pizza. The environment was new and the service was very good.

The Leisure beer is good, but I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that was supposed to have caramelized onions on it. I couldn’t find any on top of the pork. When I mentioned that to the waitress, she asked the chef who said the onions were cooked in with the pork. There were certainly no onions in my pork and the bun was too soft to pick up my sandwich so I only ate the pork(thus I think I would have seen or tasted them). I would have felt better getting an apology rather that a story that implied that I was wrong. Too bad, I’m not sure we’ll be back…

Great addition to Oconomowoc. I hadn’t heard of it before, and saw it while we were driving to the Crafty Cow on Friday night. The Crafty Cow had a 30 min wait, so we circled back to Hops & Leisure, which was very quiet. We sat at the bar, and were greeted by the owner and wait staff. Service was prompt, accurate, and friendly. Really good craft beer selection. We sampled the Leisure beers and were impressed with the Dark Ale – great flavor without being heavy. We ordered cheese curds for an appetizer, which was served really quickly. For dinner we had the Western Burger($ 11.95, huge and good!) and the Fish Tacos($ 12.95, delicious!). They may be working out some kinks, yet, but we had a great experience. Would like to try the patio in warmer weather. Give Hops & Leisure a try!

We had a reservation and were greeted nicely and seated immediately. But right after that the wheels fell off. It wasn’t busy yet took 20 minutes to get our first glass of wine. Tempura chicken app took another 15 minutes and was cold. Two burgers and two fish fry dinners ordered. Thirty minutes later they arrived. One of the fish frys was cold. Back it went, only to be replaced with a hot version with the wrong side dishes. We waited forever for our check and even longer for the server to run our credit cards. More than two hours in all. Not quite what we expected. Food when finally correct is a above OK.

Hops and Leisure has good food, good beer, nice staff, and a nice patio. The Brew school is a great gift idea! Where else can you hang out with friends and brew your own beer? Only negative is the place is empty. In their defense they are very new and construction sucks. Once people find out about this place it will be huge!

Saturday 1pm… Walked in, maybe 3 tables full. Told to sit anywhere…10 minutes to get menu/water. Ordered appetizers and meals x5. Was told soup was«chicken Chili, but no chili seasoning so dont get it». Sat around for over 45 minutes, drinks empty, asked where food is and for refills, was told«waitress should have warned you it will be at least 30 minutes for meals, we are down a chef(by now we are the only table). We ordered 2 kids hotdogs, and 3 burgers. 15 minutes later(over 1 hour now) one meal comes out, not what we ordered. We walked out(first time Unilocal review and first time ever walking out on a meal!).

I tried this restaurant again after a previous bad experience and again, small portions and overpriced plates, our order was messed up(whether it’s the kitchen or the waitstaff, I’m not sure) and the food was just average.

Good beer selection(including gluten free). Delicious burgers. Super friendly staff. Free wifi. Should be much busier than it is! Don’t let the 1985 sign fool you(sorry designer) — it’s a good brewery.

We have stopped here a couple of times. It has a comfortable/modern atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Menu is somewhat limited. I have had a flatbread pizza and stuffed burger. My wife had the pulled pork. They were all very good. It seems they are trying hard to offer some creative items. Good beer selection. I think they want to become a full brewpub. Too bad they opened when the Hwy 67 construction started.

Great beer selection. No liquor though since oconomowoc is saving those liquor Licenses for all the future Pabst Farms establishments.(Walmart). Service was great. My favorite menu item is the House Special Flatbread. Carmelized onion, bacon, Gruyère cheese and honey mustard. They have a new patio in the back which is very comfortable.

Hops & Leisure is just what Oconomowoc needed! Their signature Leisure beer is on tap, along with a large variety of other craft beers. Everything I’ve tried on the menu is amazing, but I keep coming back for their delicious fish tacos! Hops & Leisure has a lot to offer to the area… an impressive beer selection, fantastic food, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and live music! Eventually they will be brewing their Leisure beer on site and have outdoor seating. If you haven’t stopped in to check them out, you definitely should, as it will be a place you’ll keep coming back to!

I stumbled on this place a week ago and enjoyed a variety of the beers. They have a great selection. Went back tonight for the fish fry and it was very good! The potato pancakes were the best in the area. My wife enjoyed her meal and we both agreed that we would be back.

2−½ Stars. The positives… Decent selection of regional and national craft beer on tap and in bottle. Additionally, they offer several choices in bombers to share, from the likes of Lagunitas, Hoppin Frog, and Seattle Cider. Huge square footage with potential that none of the tenants since the music store have been able to accommodate. The empty, unused space and lack of guests is immediately noticed when you walk in. Even if there’s 25 people. Lots of TVs with sports channels, friendly family type staff(this is Oconomowoc after all). The even more critical part… Limited wine selection(displaying multiples of the same wines, giving appearance of a large selection). No alcohol, apparently due to a pending license. The Leisure Beer is decent, but not really promoted. When I came in it wasn’t recommended to me or anyone sitting nearby that I noticed. The Leisure rail is off to the side as well, not front and center. Their growler filler and growler display is very cool, but again, not being used. Apparently their fish tacos are good. I have not ordered them, because I don’t want to pay the $ 15ish for them and hate them. I have ordered safe menu items both times I’ve eaten here and they were sub par for even a neighborhood bar’s standards. Their menu is lacking in many ways as is the kitchen. I would not recommend eating here at all, unless you really don’t care and just want something to munch on while drinking beers. Ultimately this place has taken the mentality that they will work out the kinks WHILE being open. Like a new employee in the office who just doesn’t know how to do anything. Hopefully they catch up and figure out how to succeed, Oconomowoc needs more variety and options.
