This is NOT a coffee shop. It’s a company the sells wholesale coffee bags. Is it that hard to find a smoothie in a beach town? So bizarre. Not even the right address for people who actually come for the right thing.

They are not open on Saturdays like the profile says. Plus, according to the coffee shop next door, they are moving to Oceanside. Sorry for the bitter review and the one star, but I drove all the way to PB from Santee to shop here for a spice gift for a house warming. Needless to say I a was not too happy to see that their Unilocal info was wrong.(So maybe this is a review of Unilocal more than of SD Coffee Tea & Spice.)

Ok, had to try this place as it looks awesome and is pretty busy when I drive by. I don’t know if I was just a little cranky since I hadn’t had my caffeine yet, but the girls at the counter seemed clueless. Girl taking the order was counting money and didn’t greet me for a minute or so, then over charged my by $ 2 on my order. When I questioned her, she just reached in the cash register and gave me $ 2. When my iced tea came, the ice was melted. I asked for more ice and the other girl was like a zombie. Just seemed to be a lack of warmth in the place. It looks nice though and in the end, the tea was great. maybe they were training???

Let me start out by saying I love coffee shops so I was excited to check this place out when the new roomie suggested it. Small menu but they can change things around so you order exactly what you want… what’s not to love about that! I ordered an Almond Joy frappé style with soy… pleasantly delicious. The sandwiches are simple yet delicious, piled high with veggies and meat, and come with a small side salad. The décor of the place is simple. Patio style furniture, simple wall decorations, and clean hardwood floor. Free wifi as well. Cannot wait to try their acai bowl and tea next time!

While the coffee and drinks here are okay, the eggs are microwaved and nasty! If you eat here go with the bagels or something that you can’t go wrong with.

The coffee here is OK, but you probably only want to go here if you want an espresso drink as opposed to a plain cup of coffee. They only brew plain coffee and then add shots of flavor, i.e. hazelnut coffee is just plain with a syrupy shot of hazelnut. I’ve also been charged a few different prices here by different baristas. To be honest, there’s one here in the morning who’s so moody that if I see her working, I just keep walking to 7 – 11. They seem to have better fresh coffee sans the attitude.

I like this place. They have a good selection of breakfast items, both hot and cold, and lunch sandwiches. Their Chai Latte is amazing, very spicy. I also like how bright and clean the place is, and there is always local artwork up. However, I do not like that, from the outside, I can never ever tell if the place is open or not. I usually end up going to Java Jones at night because I know it is still open for business. They have a great selection of spices available for purchase, and lose coffees and teas. I will be back to try more stuff!

I don’t know about the coffee, but they tried to sell me «fresh squeezed» OJ that was CLEARLY Minute Maid. It was only $ 1.75, so I guess I should have seen it coming. My sister ordered a strawberry banana smoothie, and when we lingered at the counter, I saw the cashier get a little nervous because we had a clear view of the kitchen area. I watched him grab some kind of red juice mix from the fridge, pour it into a blender with a bunch of ice, and blend. It was ok, like something you would get at 7 – 11, but definitely NOT a «fresh fruit» smoothie, as advertised. I guess I should try the coffee sometime, but they’re making it really hard for me to come back… I just don’t like being lied to :(

This place is the tits. Super cheap coffee and their acai bowls are pretty legit too. Half off pretty much everything after 3pm which makes their coffee like $ 0.80 so thats good. More comfortable seating and atmosphere than a lot of other shops. Not sure why they are rarely packed because they beat out a lot of other places I have been. Check it out bro.

Not going to lie, but I didn’t have very high expectations before coming here… because of the name. San Diego Coffee? How much more boring can it get? But, you know, what’s in a name, right? I was impressed the moment I saw the seating area. It has a homey feel, like I’ve stepped right into my grandma’s cozy kitchen – if my grandma was white and lived in the countryside, that is. I love the glass tables and wicker chairs… and the cutest fresh cut flowers in jars as centerpieces on every table. It has free internet and a fair amount of outlets. It’s a great place to bring a book on a sunny morning. The milky way mocha was great, but I really want to try a chai latte next time.

Free wi-fi in a place that’s rarely crowded? I’m in! Plus, the coffee is very good — I’ve yet to buy beans and thus don’t have a determination of their freshness. I’m willing to bet they have a lovely amount of oil, and haven’t been sitting on the store shelf for months/years. They’re food is quite good as well. Sure, it’s basic coffee shop faire, but I’ve yet to be disappointed. One of their cookies even managed to keep me happy on a flight to Vegas, then another piece of it in the hotel room, and a little bit more for dessert. That’s what I call a big cookie.

The employees are super helpful and friendly. I had an iced vanilla chai and it was decent but not anything out of this world. It seemed like a good study spot because there weren’t that many people while I was there. Personally, though, I prefer Java Jones down the street.

A solid three stars on this one. When the coffee Jones hits me and I’m in PB, this is the place that I stumble into wide-eyed and panicking. The coffee is marginal although it will get you through. I’m kind of a purist, so I go for espresso only or Americanos where I can control water content. None of those foofy cappafrappachinoicees for me. My main gripe is that sometimes their Americanos taste too watered down. One great thing about drinking coffee here though is that you get to use their own packages spices, which are quite good. The sandwiches are good, the people working are always great, the seating area is comfortable(although a little on the small side when they’re crowded) and they have free WiFi. I sent out many a resume from here and contacted many a Craigslist apartment poster when I was searching for work and a home a couple of months back.

I can’t comment on the bulk tea or spices or anything like thta. I just know that it’s a pleasant place to stop for a coffee, free wifi and good food at a good price. Coffee’s fine(always have at least one dark and one medium-light roast). Music is on, but not blasting. Seats are comfortable. Décor is pleasant airy and bright and the service is friendly. What else do you really need? Parking’s easy on the street as you’re away from Garnet. Large coffee=$ 1.80 BIG Acai bowl=$ 6 Breakfast burrito with grilled fajita-spiced chicken, eggs and cheese with salsa and avocado=$ 5.50 French Dip=$ 6.50
