I had extremely high hopes for this place because there aren’t many authentic Mexican places around… I ordered tamales, and if you know anything about tamales they are not«made to order»… They are ready made and kept warm… It was not busy, but it somehow still took them 30 minutes to give me my order… Definitely never again.

This is AUTHENTIC Mexican food with homemade flavor and quality. Yes service wise they can be extremely slow and may forget things but a kind reminder and they will make things right. Every time we come here the food is worth the wait– this place is more accurately described as a restaurant with a butcher counter rather than a grocery market.

Let me start off by saying that for many years I have taken advantage of Unilocal reviews without ever posting one myself. Yup, I know what you’re thinking: «How selfish of me». I just recently got married in May 2014 and after looking through hundreds of reviews and relying on Unilocal for potential vendors I have decided to rate all my helpful vendors. With a that said, my wife and I have been coming to Rodeo Meat Market for years. My wife’s grandparents live in Oceanside and Rodeo is ALWAYS a must! For years we have enjoyed their menudo on Sundays after Church, their delicious carnitas, rice, beans and much more! Rodeo Meat Market had catered tacos for one of our family events in 2013. If we could give Rodeo Meat Market 10 stars we would! About 2 months before our wedding, our caterer was backing out of items that she had promised and essentially told us that she could not accommodate our 300 guests! My wife started to panic as we looked into other options just 2 months before our big day! One day while waiting for my food at Rodeo Meat Market after our meeting at the Mission, I asked to speak to a manager regarding catered events. After only a few minutes of speaking with Maria I knew I would be in good hands. Luckily for my fiancé and I, Rodeo was available the date of our wedding, and they could handle catering for 300! Little did we know, Rodeo has catered many Quincenieras, weddings, and events in the area. MARIA is the catering manager at Rodeo, she is absolutely amazing in every way! Maria accommodated us with every possible amenity needed for our 300 guests. My fiancé wanted a specific cilantro salad dressing and pepitas that was not on Rodeo’s menu. We received a call from Maria the next day telling us that she had found the dressing and it would be included in our menu at no additional cost! Maria came to our wedding venue in Temecula for a consultation to ensure that the food would be set up and ready on the big day. She extensively planned ahead to account for the drive from Oceanside to Temecula to ensure that the food would still be hot at the time of food service. Her team that served the food was amazing as well. We cannot say enough good things about Maria and Rodeo Meat Market’s catering. Maria is such an honest, wonderful, kind, and PATIENT person to work with. Our menu consisted of carnitas, chicken enchiladas with green salsa, chile rellenos, beautifully braised beef in a delicious sauce, rice, beans, salad, a variety of salsa, tortillas and all of the trimmings! Every single guest at our wedding RAVED about how delicious the food was! Maria and her staff were incredibly professional throughout the whole process. She worked to help us find a menu that was in our budget as well. After interviewing potential vendors you quickly come to the realization that a lot of companies really lack in customer service. Working with Maria was a breath of fresh air! We highly recommend Rodeo Market for all of your upcoming catering needs! Whether it is a big wedding with 300 guests like ours, or even something as simple as a backyard birthday party, you must call Maria! Rodeo is one of, if not THEBEST Mexican restaurants I have ever been to… and I was born in Mexico. Their Carnitas and fresh, hand made tortillas are second to none, absolutely exquisite.

Best mexican joint I have found out here. It’s cheap and tasty! If I wasn’t on a diet I would be eating here every day! The tacos are the best. Oh and you can’t forget they have the pan dulce. The sweet breads. Not only that they have some of my favorite mexican foods and candies at their little stores. I’ve made my friends come try this out. They always love it.

OK, so now when we go in, it seems that our white skin makes us invisible to the very rude Hispanic women working in the restaurant. In addition, the goat soup that I have been going in and getting for $ 6.99 a bowl, now magically has never existed for less than $ 8.99 per pound, which works out to about $ 17 for the same size container as I was getting for $ 6.99. They made us wait while they took other peoples orders before ours, and also made us wait to give us our food while we could see it was ready and sitting on the counter waiting to be given to us. The food is good, down home Mexican food, but the women working there are beyond rude and certainly don’t have the down home Mexican custom of being friendly and willing to serve their customers. Not sure if the good food is worth this experience of being treated like crap…

Decided to try the old neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall Mexican market I had passed by probably hundreds of times in my years living in the area. It’s always good to try new things I suppose. At the very least to know whether or not you are missing out on some local hidden gem. This, however, is not the case for Rodeo’s. I like to keep my reviews short and to the point, so I’ll just leave a few main points to consider if you decide to try this place. No argument here, the pictures do look good; however, look closely. They were taken professionally and added by the manager, Maria. The food doesn’t look near that good in person. No hate, just the truth. With that in mind, food from the grill was, in short, very bad. I’ve had better fish tacos from a gas station at 2am. With much faster service. That being said, they were extremely overpriced – over $ 8.50 for two. Cockroaches on the floor, plenty of expired product on the shelves, and my girlfriend and I got the old gringo out of place treatment by the staff too. Funny thing is I speak fluent Spanish, but still, they sneered at my efforts to communicate. Great way to run a business. On a positive note, the fresh tortilla chips, guacamole and salsa for sale in the fridge were all pretty tasty. The flan; however, was nothing to write home about. If you live in the area, you’re not missing out on anything even remotely special here.

The food is actually really good, no complaints there. but the service is the pits. The cashiers at the restaurant need an attitude change. They are very rude to the customers.

My husband just lost his IPhone a couple of hours ago at Rodeo’s. I called to speak to a manager. She was SO rude!!! My husband KNOWS he left it at the cash register and someone from the staff took it. I called so that the owner can help us to watch the security video. She was NO help, VERY unprofessional, AND hung up on me!!! I will NEVER go back to that place and will definitely tell all my family and friends not to do business with Rodeo’s ever again.

What a gem! Rodeo’s Meat Market is a restaurant and a Mexican convenience/grocery store all wrappped up in one. It seriously carries all things Mexican you could want, from Mexican pastries and candies to pozole, tacos, and masa(corn dough) to make tamales. This location is near the Mission in Oceanside. It’s in a strip mall near an animal hospital, so keep a close eye out or you’ll miss it. Parking is free, and they keep reasonable hours. The staff is very very friendly. The prices are great. Mexican pastries about about 50 cents each. I got 2 tacos with guacamole for $ 3. The carnitas is pretty good. The adobada(al pastor) is extremely oily, so I wouldn’t order it again. They can accommodate large orders within a short period of time. Overall, I’ll definitely be back.

It’s become a weekly tradition of ours to have Pozole and Menudo to go for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Their food is so delicious! The first time I had their Pozole I was surprised! I had never had Pozole from a restaurant that was up to my standards, being Mexican and growing up eating delicious homemade Pozole very regularly, but this hit the spot! I felt like I was eating my dad’s Pozole! My husband had the Menudo and it hit the spot as well. Along with food we also bought some pan dulce which was also very good! We are very pleased to have found this place. Sure, it gets busy and kind of crazy in there but we like that! Anyone that grew up in a city with a high Mexican population knows that places like these(carnicerías) are all like this. We love it!

This is the local mexican market that had been under my nose for a while but I had not really taken notice. Finally, after getting enough grocery ads, I stopped in, knowing many mexican markets have great mexican food cafeteria-style meals… I came for breakfast. Wow. The selection here is wide, and seems almost like my other favorite market, La Perla Tapatia. Lots of things to choose from. But I was here for breakfast, so I got a machaca burrito. Every place does their machaca differently. Yes, eggs, shredded beef, peppers, onions and tomatoes… but this place added beans and *rice*. Very mission-style i supposed. It was a great burrito, with a little more star-anise flavor in the meat than what I’ve had before. What I really want to try is their menudo and pazole. Everybody was ordering it and I felt like a stupid gringo for not ordering it. Seems like the hot stuff to order. It is noted, and I will try it next time I’m there. OH. they don’t speak any english here. So if you hate experiencing other cultures or you’re racist, just go away. You know you’re going to have a bad time there, and you’ll probably leave a bad review for somebody not speaking english. If you go and are not a spanish speaker, just embrace the cross-cultural experience and be prepared to be a little lost in order to discover something new :).

The meat market here is really good, they sell this pastor marinated meat that tastes quite similar to tacos al pastor from a real Mexican taqueria. The prices are reasonable and the small kitchen at the back of the store sells huaraches and some other typical Mexican dishes, and the best of all is that everything tastes really good!

Great meat but if your a non Spanish speaker be ready to wait. If your willing to wait its worth the meat but you will need a thick skin to stand their while the people around go about their business. Be sure to get a ticket!

The food is super delicious but they take foreeeeever to serve you, I don’t get why it takes so long if the food is already there, all they have to do is serve it. It’s homemade food though so it’s worth the wait. Just don’t go during your lunch break because I can guarantee you will not make it back on time! I hate to take off two stars because the food is great but I just think its ridiculous how long it takes. Last time I was there it took 45min for them to tell me they were all out of what I had ordered.
