Prince of Peace Abbey Beneditinemonastery

A beautiful and perfect place for prayer, reflection, meditation, and contemplation. Everytime I go, I leave feeling more peaceful and more happy. The church is beautiful inside, especially the chapel. The prayer trails are amazing. Last time I walked the prayer trail containing the «Way of the Cross». I prayed all the stations with my friend, and the setting and atmosphere allowed us to really meditate on the stations of the cross. The views are spectacular. The prayer trails serve as a perfect place to enjoy, take in, and appreciate wilderness. The gift shop has an impressive collection of books, art, gifts, accessories, etc. The library is also of a good size and has many books to utilize for prayer and study. The grounds also serves as a center for retreats and spiritual activities and events, so if you’re considering having some type of activity or event, I highly suggest the Prince of Peace abbey!

Sacred place and God’s presence resides so strongly in this here Abbey. Never have I felt such connection to God when allowed to step into the confines of Prince of Peace.
Due to the wonderful practices of work and worship all to God that these great monks perform each day.
A part of my soul chipped away during each time I had to leave the Abbey. For it felt most like a home, as my soul had not experienced such til this dear Abbey.
All brothers especially Brother Daniel opened my eyes to a deeper connection to God.

My girlfriend and I decided to take a drive here yesterday. I have a health issue I don’t normally walk to much. I felt great I walked most of the grounds. Great place to pray.

Love this abbey to be honest its one of the best places I have been in California. It seems that whatever emotional turmoil or good things in your life. This place takes the cake as one of the best places to go to church think and contemplate and thank Jesus for everything you have and hope that the real Prince of Peace aka: Jesus comes to all the world. This place I hope is around for centuries. Great place. Love it.

Ah the Abbey. What a great sanctuary for the Catholics looking for the more traditional lifestyle to inspire them, not just a religious experience or a Sunday service. It’s a private island of self sufficiency nearly. Over the years they’ve expanded to really use more of the property. I recall all the growth projects. Some of it is actually performed by the brother’s themselves as many have trade skills. The gift center helps them be a little sustained as I know a particular brother (shall not name) used to sell wild honey and propolis.
The stone walls and colored glass art keep it rustic. The all wood benches and just echo effect make for a real solemn sound assuming there are not rowdy kids or cell phones going off, the later is warned prior to service. Though most service aren’t Latin they definitely take their time with the songs, hymn’s and liturgy and isn’t somewhere that time really isn’t adhered to.
The trail for prayer walks/​stations of the cross/​rosary area is long winding and calming. If you really look out you get some of the best views in all of Oceanside. This will always hold a special place in my heart because as an adult I more fully appreciate its value since I’ve grown up through it and remember my feelings weren’t always this when I was growing up.
I get the use of Unilocal for most things, but to review a place of worship is touchy for a lot of people, but I’ll end with this. It’s not a church by comparison where you worship with a congregation and have Sunday school for the kids and so forth. It’s a Monestary first and foremost for the monks who chose to share with the world the service and place.

I just spent memorial Day weekend at this lovely monastery in the hills of Oceanside. I was there for a personal, spiritual retreat, but you are not required to be spiritual or religious. In fact, you’re not required to be anything. For $ 85 per night you get a room with one or two beds (no TV or internet) and 3 meals per day. Meals are at prescribed times and for only 30 minutes; and are tasty and nutritious.
If you are a party of one or two people and want a basic room with meals for $ 85 per night, this could be a good choice. (And if you feel like praying with the monks, they’re in the church at 5:30, 7;00, 11:00, 5:00 and 8:00.)

This is one my most favorite places in San Diego and most people don’t know that it exist.
It’s an abbey with real priest and nuns living on the property. But the most awesome part is that there are prayer paths that the public is allowed to walk on. This is cool because, this abbey sit atop on one of the highest points in Oceanside… so one can see just about all of the San Luis Rey Valley from up atop here.
It’s just awesome. You can see the Pacific ocean, canyons, coyotes, the Marine base… it just an awesome place just to come think and clear you hear.
Will I come here again… Been coming here for years :)
