My family and I just moved to Oceanside a few weeks ago. We used to eat phở on a regular basis back in Carlsbad and San Marcos. We thought we knew what a good phở place was. We found out about Phở Kitchen from Unilocal. It sat on a mini version of «Restaurant Row» with Enzo’s BBQ, a sushi joint and Panda Express. The establishment, though quite small, manages to set the bar high. Caged Edison lights dangle from the ceiling with a backdrop of rustic distressed wood(laminate?) walls and well-placed decorative black & white prints. At most phở restaurants I’ve been to, I usually add soy sauce to the broth. It’s a way to enrich the broth, along with a healthy squirt of Sriracha(a definite MUST have). But, Phở Kitchen didn’t have any soy sauce at the table. I could already envision my Unilocal review coming to light: «Phở Kitchen declares war on soy». It was sure to grab headlines. It turns out, I didn’t need soy sauce. The broth was delicious. Even the ice-water they served had hints of mint and cucumber with lime. And while we were eating, the staff began playing the piano(well via Pandora or MP4). It added to the pleasant vibe of the place. Two adult-sized bowls of phở and two kid-sized bowls. Three cucumber waters and a Coke. Total bill: $ 30. We most certainly will be back to try the rest of the menu. Can’t wait!

You have flavorful broth and a clean restaurant. You have amazing service and nice staff. Your beef is also out of this world!

We got the egg rolls and beef phở. The broth is really flavorful. Everything was delicious! It’s also very clean and has a good atmosphere.

Clean Yummy and affordable. Soup was great with soft raw meat just the way I like it. BBQ chicken platter was soft and moist. No complaints but I wish I had more sauce to mix my meat with and one slice of lime doesn’t cut it. Great place over all.

Spring rolls were delish! Great peanut sauce. Got just the filet steak small phở bowl. Husband got the mixed bowl. Wasn’t a huge fan of the tripe(ha ha) — he’s never had phở before. I liked my phở. Broth was amazing and the meat was tender and juicy. Hit the spot. Be warned: the English of some of the workers here is not so great. We asked for shrimp in both our bowls and our server misunderstood and didn’t put it in our bowls. Overall, place was clean, service was good, phở was great and so were the rolls. Would come back but just make sure you take the time to ensure they understand what you’re ordering.

Visited this restaurant on several occasions and enjoyed their food. Yet when there posted closing sign is 9:00pm and we arrive at 8:40pm and they say they cannot seat us that is very misleading. I was asking for a manager and was ignored., as I was there two other couples were also turned away. Please post what is your. Real hours of service. The only reason I’m giving it a 2 star is because the food is good. Service is questionable.

The food is delicious. Best Phở place in the north san diego area hands down. The store owner and his wife are super duper friendly. The wife always beings our dog treats and water if we bring him by. My only gripe is they didn’t used to charge extra for meatballs for your phở ;(

This place is a nice while in the wall. Walked in and enjoyed the décor and music. Very clean, relaxing and soothing. Ordered the meat phở. Have to say was not expecting it be a total meat love phở. If you love your meat broth and chucks of beef this is the one for you. The both was hot and just full of beef flavor. The beef chunks were huge, tender, and plenty. The noodles which came along with the beef meal perfectly complemented the dish. Left this place perfectly full and happy. Was thinking about getting the dessert of the day but was not able to eat another bite. The price here was very reasonable for the meal I received. So ladies if you and your man want to go out and he wants steak and you want something else. I think this meal will keep him happy while you choice something else. A great compromise. Cannot wait to try the other phở

Hands down the best Phở place in the North San Diego County. Have you heard of homemade phở? Well, it’s served here and it’s served with the best service. Food comes out on a cart. The servers are super friendly and quick on getting what you need. Make sure you try their Chicken Curry. It’s just like how my grandma made it. No she wasn’t Vietnamese!

Industrial/urban décor is a deviation from the common asian themed phó restaurant. Pork roll appetizer was good. It took a long time to come out but they were made fresh. They were some of the biggest rolls I’ve seen. When I order my phó ga I was asked for my preference between thin or fresh flat noodles. I asked and the fresh noodles are still store bought. Not sure what happened but we waited quite a bit longer than others in the restaurant. There were 2 other tables that were seated 5 – 10 minutes after we were and were served before we were. No sure why but at least our server was friendly. The phở seemed pretty average to me.

This place has some really good phở! I’ve been here a couple times now, and haven’t been disappointed. The staff is friendly and attentive, and will always make sure you have everything you need. Unlike many of the other places I’ve been, this place lets you customize your meats in the soup. The broth is really good, I haven’t been to many places that I didn’t need to add anything to it to make it taste better. It was just really good on its own. The broth isn’t cloudy and no meat scum floating on top. They serve the soup in these really cool ceramic/stone bowls, they look smaller than the plastic ones at other restaurants, but these things are deep. They also keep your soup warm until the last drop. I’d use these things at home if I found them in a store. The utensils are on the table, huge spoons and chopsticks held in a noodle strainer. Had both of the egg rolls and spring rolls, both really good, and they don’t skimp on the sauce. You can also get half orders of each if you’re just eating alone and don’t need a full order. The dessert of the day is pretty good too, the temperature they serve it depends on the weather. Hot on a cold day, cold on hot day. I recommend coming here coming here and trying out the soup.

I’m a fan! And I’ll definitely drive out of my way to come here again! I’ve been a regular in another two phở joints and I’d say Phở Kitchen served me some surprisingly good phở that will keep me coming back. At first I was skeptical because of its somewhat fancy exterior and interior as compared to the other regular phở joints that I am familiar with. Without thinking too much about prices, I walked in anyway to give it a shot. I got P2, the combo noodles with everything such as brisket, tendon, flank, rare steak, except the shrimp and meatball. The regular size($ 8) was more than enough to stuff myself. I paid extra 50 cents just to try out their flat noodles. They’re wider than the regular phở rice noodles and I enjoyed the change! I took a sip of the broth with my soup spoon. AHHHHH it’s a good start! Savory, flavorful with the right amount of salt. All their ingredients were of top quality — the meat was tender, the tendon had a good chew, the brisket wasn’t full of fat, the tripe was soft, even the Thai basil leaves looked healthy without dark spots and wilting! I don’t see why people say there isn’t enough flavor. My burp still tastes like phở. On top of the taste, the service was excellent too. The water cup was never empty and service was efficient and courteous. The restaurant is clean and modern too. Definitely coming back to try other stuff on the menu. That shrimp noodle soup looks good in the pictures…

We LLLLOOOOOVVVVEEE this place!!! May be our favorite phở… Think my husband would choose this for his last meal!!! Everything I’ve had here is top notch! We enjoy introducing people to phở and this spot specifically! Egg rolls, big bowl of yummy, a boba tea and their mint cucumber infused water. What’s nice is lots of their food comes med-large servings which is nice. Prices are fantastic! A meal with apps, meal and tea for two is around $ 20! Heaven! I have chicken issues if it isn’t a boneless chicken breast never mind!!! Here’s their chicken curry comes bone in! Yikes I was super bummed decided I’d eat around it. Then I ended up with a broken off piece and WOOOOOW! Maybe the best tasting chicken I’ve ever eaten! Their chicken has changed my mind about chicken even bone in chicken!!! Even if you’ve been a chicken o’phobe dig in its ridiculously delicious! Their services is really top notch hands down it’s very clean and fresh!!! Great location, amazing food, really fresh, love the chicken curry and the egg rolls! Great service and love the look of the place … Very cool!

Came here after reading all the great reviews of a new phở spot in Oceanside. I really like how modern it looks. Phở was ok to me, but not the best. I think the amount given is smaller then most phở places. Could be wrong though. Prices are little higher than Mr. Phở(fav phở spot in Oceanside) Think I’ll stick to Mr phở!

Service here was exceptional… All our needs were met and they were super nice. It’s a small establishment with about 12 tables or so, very clean and modern interior. Dishes were pretty and added a nice touch. We had the spring rolls which were yummy(you can ask for vegetarian too)… And they brought each of us our own dipping sauce. As you know that is awesome because most places require you to share one– that means no double dipping. We each ordered the shrimp phở. Portion sizes were large and lots of fresh veggies for our soup. They have to-go containers for people like me that can’t finish their meals. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the broth was tasty. Ask for the flat noodles– I thoroughly enjoyed them. This venue seems like an upcoming spot for phở. We’ll definitely be back. We would frequent«I Love Phở» a lot for their authentic taste and feel but service definitely has declined. It’s nice to have another local option with tasty vegetarian options too. Definitely worth a try! The only downside is parking can be tricky during certain times since it is a small lot with lots of surrounding establishments. You can park closer to the sprinter station if you have any troubles.

I’ve been hearing nothing but great things about this place so I had to try it! Cold weather always makes the heart grow fonder… for phở that is. I called in an order as I was driving to the restaurant. The guy that helped had awesome customer service and was very helpful as I basically went in blind, and had never seen their menu. All I said was«I want the phở with the tripe and other meats» and boom he knew exactly what I wanted. It was hilarious to me. Anyway, I ordered two orders of the P2 which comes with tripe, rare tendon, flank meat, etc and phở with well done steak. I was literally 5 minutes away and he promised the order would be ready when I got there. And it was! The restaurant was well kept and clean. The tables were stocked with your basics(chopsticks, spoons, napkins, hoisin and spices). I was even offered a glass of water while I waited because I ordered something else when I was there. Their broth was delicious. I always like to taste the phở before adding all the extra flavors, and theirs was flavorful. I am definitely a fan. Finally, I had such a great take out experience I can’t wait until I actually dine here. Thanks guys!

So good!!! I have been looking for a good phở place in the area and I finally found one! The staff here is very nice and welcoming! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very modern! I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls(they do half orders which is fantastic) and the vegetarian phở. From my past experiences, I have found that vegetarian phở can be quite bland but this Phở Kitchen really knows how to season their phở! I also got their special noodles… the one that are slightly thicker but more fresh and thought they were delicious. Can’t wait to come back! I wish they delivered!

Sing Hallelujah! The Gods Of Soup have answered my prayers! I mean finally, FINALLY, a brand new Phở place opens in North San Diego that’s deliciously innovative, fresh, and hella FUN! Follow– This past Sunday was wet, windy, sporadically rainy, and not-so-good for my beloved rituals of surfing or freediving. When San Diego gets the drops, my better half and I get the craving for a big bowls of hot soup! I logged on to the trustworthy-as-hell Unilocal app on my smartphone, typed in the word«Phở» for a search in my area, and alas, a «Hot and New» listing for a place called«Phở Kitchen» pops up! Seriously, how COOL is that?! But, shah, you know what? Uhh, Uhh. Phở Kitchen was not our first choice after I saw that is was a full 7 minutes driving time farther away from our usual place(rainy days also make me kinda lazy), Phở For Queen in San Marcos. So we chose to go to our usual spot instead. We drove up and saw there was plenty of parking at Phở For Queen. Why? Because they’re now C L O S E D on Sundays, grrr!!! So I still had Phở Kitchen pulled up on my Unilocal app and we drove there instead! Boy, were we ever HAPPY! It’s located in a strip mall, alongside about four other eateries, including a Panda Express(really!?), Japanese restaurant, a closed down Fresh & Easy store, and a yogurt shop. Walked in and B A M, what a refreshing surprise! The interior, unlike other Vietnamese places in the area, has a COOL& modern industrial feel to it, with awesome music playing in the background! The whole place is smallish, with 12 tables inside and 2 outside. Walked in and was gobsmacked by the warm greeting from our young male server, «Welcome! Thank you for coming to Phở Kitchen! Table for 2? Right over here!» The menu at Phở Kitchen is concise and brillaint. Soup with two choices of noodles, appetizers, entrees, and beverages. That’s it! They even give you the truly innovative option of building your own Phở by choosing which ingredients you want in it! Designing your own soup? I can really have a ball with this! The menu here sets itself FAR apart from the reliably good Phở Oceanside, yummy but now snarky serviced Phở-Ever in Encinitas(last time I was there 2 of the servers cop’ed me a major attitude for my vegetarian take-out), and Phở For Queen. Put these three together and, you know what, it’s the same darn menu, over, and over again! I love you guys but I need change!!! Phở Kitchen’s Spring Rolls, with the Shrimp and Pork, and the Vegetarian, are, by far, the BEST I’ve ever tasted!!! BIG, SOFT, and seductively FRESH! The rice paper wrapping was the most velvety, melt-in-your-mouth delicious experience ever! It tasted like it was freshly steamed, and it probably was The Filet Mignon Phở is truly luxurious and the FINEST in the area(sorry Phở-Ever)! I opted for the larger P2 combination. The broth was beyond perfect for this Asian American jock who can’t stand MSG or anything overly salty. The flavors were just so awesomely balanced and the ingredients prepared buy hand and, more importantly, double checked(I once found a small bone in my soup at Phở Oceanside, ugh)! What Seals the Deal for us at Phở Kitchen is the service! Our server was super polite, attentive, and SPOTON! This truly is our new Go-To Vietnamese place in North San Diego! Warmest thanks, Gods Of Soup!!!

The restaurant is small, but it is very clean and laid out nicely. The staff were friendly, the prices are great for the amount of food that you get, and the service was very quick. I ordered a regular bowl of phở which was enough for two — the large bowl was HUGE and only a few dollars more. Everything we ordered was good and I like the idea of the restaurant being close enough to work so I’m not wasting a lot of time in traffic. Overall, Phở Kitchen is a nice restaurant but similar to many in the area. I’ll have to come back and try other dishes to see if there is anything that stand out and knock my socks off.

Grand Opening! I was lucky enough to be a part of it and enjoy some of the yummy food Phở Kitchen has to offer! It was a beautiful day in Oceanside, where Phở Kitchen invited us(La Jolla Taiko) to play for them as they opened their doors and kicked off the ribbon cutting ceremony. What a great way to draw a crowd and announce they’re open for business! It’s not a huge place, but it was packed with a line already forming outside! The owners and staff were so nice and generous. They made sure we had plenty of ice water for our players during our set. :) After our set, we packed up and celebrated our first Grand Opening with a pot luck, where spring rolls and eggrolls made a grand entrance courtesy of our sensei from Phở Kitchen! Yay!!! The spring rolls were huge! Definitely bigger then any spring roll I can wrap, packed with yummy goodness! It was a prefect combination of veggies, noodles and shrimp… drenched in peanut sauce. I love a good peanut sauce! Eggrolls are my absolute favorite food and they were plentiful, perfectly crisp and delicious! Everybody loves some good Phở!
