M & H Barber Shop

My husband gets his hair cut here every thursday. Courtney does it, as well as women’s hair and bridal makeup. She’s done my hair too. The women’s salon is in the back area. I park in the liquor store plaza and park in their designated spot and have front row parking, much safer to walk out this area than the public parking by Harney sushi/​the hotel. Courtney
is very personable and outgoing, very nice lady. They honor military discounts here.

Just ask for Courtney. I sincerely admire her work and have viewed her as my barbering mentor for 9 years. I own my salon in San Diego and this girl is among the best. Don’t let the idea of a female barber not being as good as the guys, get in your way. I promise you will not be disappointed l!!! Two thumbs way up!

If the goal is a good haircut then you’ll find what you want here. After my original barber moved to another shop I was upset that I had to find a new one. Being in the military looking for a new barber is torture cause it can mean about 4 – 5 weeks of bad weekly haircuts until you find the one to do it right. Scott has now but my hair 7 weeks in a row and does awesome. He’s quick, but precise and for active duty it’s only $ 9. I can’t speak on other barbers but he is awesome.
The shop itself is nothing special as in décor etc. It’s an in and out barber shop in Oceanside designed I accommodate all the Marines and their weekly cuts. It serves it’s purpose. Cash only, but there’s an ATM inside. As for the previous review. There are about a million things worse than 40 psi air compressor used to remove hair from you. Have you been to the places that just try and wipe it off? It’s terrible. It’s not painful, it’s efficient, and it’s not worth complaining over.

Ouch. If you are looking to be made fun of by a surly staff then this is your place. Canada cut my hair very quickly which I like however I could feel the edge of the clippers stabbing into my scalp which as anyone who has had as many haircuts as I have knows that is entirely on the person cutting your hair. Somehow by checking in on Unilocal it offended her delicate sensibilities to the point where she felt the need to laugh at me. But she quickly let me know how she felt when she used compressed air to attempt to blow the hair off of me. It would have been a great way to remove the hair except, I don’t need 40 psi directly into my ear. The only reason they rate two stars in my book is for the speed of the haircut.

Horrible! Went to get haircut and I was rushed the barber was more interested in getting my $ 12 dollars then actually giving a good haircut. Wasn’t even able to check out haircut before the barber was rushing me off the chair. Service was horrible and so was the haircut. Enjoy my $ 12 dollars!
