Gi Joe’s Army & Navy Surplus

These guys have a no return policy. Just found out the boots I purchased with the defective zipper on them is my tough luck.

This place has been here for several years which is on a pretty busy corner. The location is great because it’s downtown near a few dry cleaners and is even connected to a dry cleaning business that also does alterations. The surplus side is a little small but they also have a side that has a ton of shirts, hats and clothing for kids. They do have a lot of cool shirts but the prices a little high to me. The customer service is alright they will usually ask you once if you have any questions. I know I will be back because they have great deals on ammo cans.

They wouldn’t take a return for a rite in the rain book and cover, with the receipt and the prices still on it. «All sales are final.» Additionally my replacement dog tags came out crooked and they wouldn’t fix them. Not coming here again

This was my first time here and I will say I was very impressed. Yes their prices were a little higher than other places but they had a wide variety of stuff. I bought a plate carrier and some patches, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Only downside was almost everything they had was in coyote tan but I managed to find a couple things in the color I wanted. I recommend this store and will be back in the future.

I am not military, but am a big fan of military surplus stores, I can always find half a dozen uses for old military gear. I always seek out supply stores near military bases because they have the best gear. Not the boring knockoff gear every store sells but something unique.
Twice I have been into this GI Joe’s and twice I have left empty handed. Mainly because what they have that I would buy is overpriced. Or they have a shelf full of coyote brown MOLLE gear but the one thing I want they only have in woodland.
It seems like they mainly do uniform services for Camp Pendleton so the surplus side is a side thought.

I needed a new pair of dogtags, I called in to order them over the phone, which they normally do not do.
I explained why I was hoping for them to consider an order of over the phone and was very surprised at how accommodating they were. Even had they not been able to accommodate my request, I feel that their customer service would have still been good enough to rate a positive review

My husband and I went here to replace some gear he had lost. This was our first stop, and boy did they make it easy for us! We walked in and there was TONS of inventory, so no need to worry about grabbing the last item. The girl behind the counter asked what we were looking for, and within 30 seconds we were looking at it! Not only was the item in stock, but they had all size options available, and the pricing was very reasonable. The hubby said it was only $ 5 higher than it would be to replace it with paperwork from the corps. Thank you! Totally worth not having to hassle with things, and they made it really easy for us!

I am pretty sure HATE the human race. First time I went here I was shocked at how rude this ancient witch of a woman was, that I vowed to never go back.
Well, three years later I gave it another shot. Same attitude. It’s really quite sad too, because their biggest market is the marines and service members stationed in the area, and for some reason they treat us like pure crap. My only guess is that they do this because they know they can get away with it. After all, they’ve probably been doing this for years, and if the age of the ill tempered old women is any indication as to how long they’ve been around, I would say they probably gave the same treatment to Dan Daly!
The two stars are simply because they do have a lot of cool shit. If you can enter this store, look around, find what you want, pay for it and leave without having to even breathe around said old women, you might have a good experience. But dear god, DO NOT ask these women to sew on name tapes or mount medals for the ball!!! They will have you leaving debating whether your next stop should be the nearest church to repent your sins.

Best customer service I have ever received in downtown Oceanside.
I walked in about an hour before they closed, needing my medals mounted for a funeral the next day. I had tried every other store and each one said the turn-​around time was at least 2 – 3 days.
I explained my situation to the gentleman in the rear and he must have been the owner because he got on his cell phone and called the mounting lady to come in right away. I came back an hour later and they were done. Crisp and professional to perfection, and not a penny more than what other stores were charging. They truly saved the day!
Thank you GI Joe’s. I was able to attend Officer Michael Crain’s funeral the next day in my dress blues to honor a former Marine who lost his life protecting his community. Thank you for supporting the troops as well.

I have to give GI Joe’s five stars for the fact that I got the last item of my CIF gear list here. I drove up to the shop, walked in, asked for my item and the sales lady gave me what I needed right away. What a sigh of relief that was for me.
There’s absolutely no greater feeling than turning in all of your gear, and because of GI Joe’s, I was able to enjoy this experience.

I purchased a Digital Desert camouflage Marine Corp boonie hat from this store last week. Price and selection wise for this product Gi Joe’s was better than other similar stores in downtown Oceanside. However, the reason I am giving them 3 stars, I would give them 2.5 if I could, is for their customer service.
I spent about 15 minutes looking for the hat before I asked for help, I was not greeted by the way when I walked in, but whatever. When I did ask for the help, the lady behind the counter huffed, put her book down, and then asked me what she could do. I told her what I wanted, when she again huffed, and walked over to a wall behind the counter and asked me what size I wanted.
The 3 stars are because while she did provide me with decent service, it was by no means great, and in my opinion she did what was expected, but did not go above and beyond by any means. I also want to add that they more or less have an «as is» return policy. Meaning if you buy it… its yours, no returns.
Its an average store with average prices is about all I can say for this place. The only reason I will be back is if I can’t find what I am looking for at another store.
