So, this place reminds me of one of those spots that locals — especially locals of the older generation — patronize out of mere habit. They’ve been going here for the past 20 years to meet their pals and shoot the s***, and they’ll keep their routine, the group getting smaller with the passing years, until it dies out. If this place doesn’t do something to help itself and draw in a broader customer base, it doesn’t seem much longer for this life. A menu that appears to be fully frozen/Sysco type fare. A bleak interior that might be perfectly clean, but is run-down so your mind automatically jumps to conclusions otherwise. Food that is prepared sufficiently, but is grossly overpriced for the portions and lack of originality. Sad.

A tuna sandwich, order of onion rings, and 3 cokes for $ 37? Never again.

We passed this place after landing in Portland and were on our way to visit our nephew in Ocean Park. Looks a little banged up and old but man… I can’t tell you how good the breakfast was. We ordered pancakes and just for the fun of it, I decided to try a dab of their home-made marionberry syrup. Hellloooooooooo… It was so dang good we scheduled our return trip to Portland airport allowing enough time for a 2nd visit. This time we ordered two slices of marionberry pie, hot, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it and more marionberry syrup poured on top. Words don’t describe how good this was. Almost worth a trip out there just for dessert.

Impressed isn’t a strong enough word for the service I received at The Berry Patch. I’ve been vegan long enough to know if you plan on eating out for breakfast you might be eating fruit salad washed down with coffee. Not here! While there is not much on the menu to accommodate vegans(very typical of local greasy spoons), that was no problem for the excellent staff and chef. I simply asked for a recommendation and I was greeted with an open mind and a few choices. I ended up with potatoes, green and red peppers, onions and an orange on the side. A delicious and hearty meal that will keep me filled for my hike at Cape Disappointment today! But, What about the grill though? Surely they cooked it on the some grill used to cook bacon, eggs and other typical American breakfast food. Not here! The chef automatically used a separate frying pan showing the upmost respect for veganism. Bravo to this establishment! On behalf of vegans everywhere, I would like to thank you!

I would give this place zero stars if I could, but the fries were good. We waited almost ten minutes until we finally were greeted by the waitress, and that was after we got our own menus. The waitress was rude, spilled water on my cell phone(and wasn’t sorry about it), and did not come back to check on us after she served us our food. Horrible place.

If you have to have that homemade shake topped with real whipped cream, this is the place! Absolute HEAVEN!!! The homemade clam chowder has pieces of potatoes, bacon and clams! The rebel was delicious. Everything came out quick and hot! Oh and splurge and get the onion rings! Then shop at Jake’s across the street!

The only reason I’m giving one star is because there is no other choice! We were told by pleasant older lady to seat ourselves –there were only very small tables and 6 of us… We slid two tables together Sat a good ten minutes as younger blonde waitress walked by several times-when she finally came over she told us we would need to move because it would be too difficult for her to serve us… Another table cleared so she moved us over there Took our order several minutes later … Didn’t ask if we wanted fries or chips or drinks… When she brought my lemonade it had a bug in it … Barely apologized as she grabbed it annoyed and went and emptied it to give me a new one… pretty sure it was the same glass. They do not take debit but that is not posted on their door Rude poor service! Food not very good! I will give older lady credit for being friendly but I would NOT recommend! Someone needs to realize you want to impress the out of Towners to get them to return and tell their friends! I would suggest the management makes some changes!!! $ 90 for 6 basic meals! Burgers with a small bag of chips … Chicken fried steak had brown gravy on it… what? Who does that???

This place was pretty dingy. The service was poor. Took ten minutes to be asked about beverages and there were probably only four other occupied tables. The bathroom was just gross! The only reason this place got two stars instead of one is the food. Sandwich was great, burger and fries were good. Unfortunately the condition of the restaurant and service will prevent me from returning to this place.

Was headed to the Dunes but that is now closed. Waited an eternity to be acknowledged, to order and to receive 2 bowls of chowder. Geez. And expensive.$ 25 for 2 bowls, 2 ice teas! Will not be back, ever. Place needs some scrubbing. Miss The Dunes.

Charming little place. Great breakfast. Not the biggest dinning area. Lots of cool Coke decorations from time gone by. Friendly wait staff. Seems to be a popular local hang out. FYI, Sadly the Dunes next door has gone out of business.

Good basic food. Our sandwich and chili were really yummy. Many items prepared fresh too including the clam chowder, chili, and they hand bread all their fish. It was busy when we ate here so service was a bit slow.

Terrible. The cook doesn’t where gloves, the place is out dated and kinda dirty. The server was nice however. Lunch was very expensive almost $ 60 for 4 people, I ordered a chicken fried steak and got pork instead of beef, it was so disappointing and gross.

Not a fan. Really slow service. Ordered soup and salad before our meal. Seemed put out when we requested refills on an all you can eat meal. Fish and chips came with TINY fish. Super overpriced.

First time here service is great waffle no taste pancake no taste coffee watery breakfast not so good. Will probably do lunch next time we are in town i want to give it another try. Wish ocean park /longbeach had a really prideful place to go and eat. I think these places gets business here because there is not to much place to go out and grab a bite. After not so good experience at any of these eating places we decided to eat frozen pizza the next nights and make our own sandwhiches. Too bad these owners of these mom & pops places has no pride in their food. We will be back to ocean park probably with our own foods to cook. 2 stars because customer service was good.

For a sleep beach town, this little spot is pretty good. The bacon is d-lish. If you like ham, order that. It’s practically a ham steak! My pancakes were yummy too. Excellent staff, super friendly.

Three out of Five ain’t bad! This is a small town café with burgers, sandwiches, and a lot of deep friend frozen seafood/fries. Wife had pork chops, mother had chicken fried steak, and I had oysters and chips. You are not going to be wowed by anything other than the staff. Very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for fine dining– look elsewhere. If you are looking for a quick good meal then look no further.

This restaurant was recommended by the locals food and service were alright, I got a salad and tater barrels, my other half had the chili and tater barrels, just your typical frozen bagged or canned food you could make at home. Don’t expect really really good food though. :( They only take cash NOCREDITCARDS the waitress was nice and seemed to be efficient!

We went to this place 3 times during our stay in Ocean Park. The service was great and the food was fresh and delicious. Not only were they very friendly, but we rolled in at about 8:55pm not knowing that everything in this town closes at 9pm! We popped in asked if we could at least order to go and they said sure! We only waited about 10 min have superb food and they were all friendly eventhough we were keeping them late. We also had breakfast the day before. Sausage and gravy was awesome and so was the french toast. We’re very happy with our time here. The crew on the evening of august 8⁄22 was superb! Thank you everyone!

Very very disappointing experience here. On the weekend where it was supposed to be 90 degrees in Oly we hightailed it outta there and took the dog to the beach up at Ocean Park and he loved it in case you were wondering. On our way out of town we were absolutely starving so we drove around the quaint little beach town looking for somewhere to eat. After a quick decision between this place and the one next door, we parked the car and came in. You seat yourself here, so we did so and then we were immediately ignored for the better portion of 5 minutes despite the fact that there were only about 8 tables in the entire restaurant. An EXTREMELY exasperated and irritable server came by and took our order. About 10 minutes of waiting later I discovered that they don’t take cards here so I told the husband and he went to find an ATM. He was gone for about 10 minutes but halfway through our food was dumped on the table. I was going to ask the server not to bring the food out so it wouldn’t get cold but she didn’t walk by at any point in time for me to ask. I sat there waiting for my food to get cold and then proceeded to eat my mushy shrimp and greasy fries when the husband got back. It wouldn’t have tasted any better if it were hot. While I was waiting an older gentleman nudged me as he left and whispered to me «If you are waiting for service with a smile, it’s going to be a long wait for you sweetheart.» I couldn’t help but laugh because it was so true. I have never seen a server so pissed off in my life. It wasn’t even busy so I don’t know what was up. It’s still no excuse. Whatever, it’s not like I will ever be back anyway. Do yourself a favor and pick the restaurant next door instead.

On our way to the beach house for the weekend we were broadsided by hunger as we entered the hamlet of Ocean Park for the first time ever. Two restaurants sat side by side and after a rousing game of «Where do you wanna go?» we picked the Berry Patch Restaurant. As you walk into the small establishment there is outdoor seating on a deck in front of you, but it was overcast and windy, so we made a left up the stairs and picked a seat. As we looked around it looked like the place didn’t know whether to be a 50s Diner or a quaint Café. Our waitress delivered our menus and we decided to do some fried seafood, I got the scallops and the Wife ordered Fried Shrimp, but when the plates arrived she was served Fried Clams. The Wife took it as an omen and said the Clams were fine with her. They offered to make it right, which was very nice of them, but all the sudden the woman wanted Clams. I have learned not to question these decisions. The scallops were small, like a Bay Scallop, maybe a little too heavily breaded but they had a good flavor. These were served over a bed of shoestring french fries which were very well cooked and were a nice change of pace from fast food fries. The iced tea was your generic Lipton type of tea, but it was fresh and they brought refills. The clams were actually quite excellent as I should also mention the tartar sauce they served was top notch stuff. There were a lot of locals in the place, which made me feel confident about the place and it was clean. One gripe though, the menu is kid friendly but go with your young ones if they need the bathroom. There is one bathroom for the place, which is fine, but I noticed as I accompanied the Tax Deduction to go potty that all their cleaning products for the place are on a bottom shelf of a utility shelving unit in the bathroom. Easy for young ones to get at with no safeguards at all. We would return to this place gladly, I heard the locals talking about what a good breakfast they serve, so next visit we will try for an update.
