This place is extremely clean and has some of the best homemade ice cream and yogurt I’ve ever had! Very large portions that will definitely fill you up. And they have the friendliest people that serve you and make you wanna keep coming back. The peanut butter brownie is amazing! Trust me if you are in the area you need to stop and try them!

Cute ice-cream parlor with indoor and outdoor seating that is 4 blocks away from the boardwalk. Great selection of ice cream flavors and customer service is outstanding. Definitely worth visiting if in Ocean City; however, expect to wait on line for 10 – 15 minutes.

Ummm every day that I am in or near Ocean City I have to have. This place is outstanding and the service is great and quick ! The cookie monster is awesome… if Ben & Jerry got a hold of this they would want to sell it. I always get a regular scoop on a cone but I keep seeing everyone getting sundaes so I figure hey what the heck, I’ll get one this time… shut the front door, lock me in and thats all I want now are sundaes… I never got sundaes because i’ve never had a great sundae until HERE ! I got the sundae with pecans, caramel and hot fudge with rocky road to get some of the marshmallow in there and a vanilla ice cream… i’m hooked. Awesome… compare to Springers in Stone harbor. hmm very different. BUT I’d choose Hobby horse. Visited August 2014 Visited July 2105

Best ice cream in Ocean City. Wasted $$$ on Kohr’s Brothers on Boardwalk 2 nights before. Never making a trip to Ocean City again without stopping here!

You’ll probably walk in here thinking the line is way too long and want walk straight out, but I promise the line moves super fast with their great speedy staff, but more importantly the ice cream is so worth it! I had the peach berry sundae with a scoop of banana and and scoop of Maine blueberry. Generous portions and not to bad on the wallet.

I can die a happy person for having eaten cinnamon bun ice cream in a pretzel cone. I advise you to go there too, now.

This was a must stop for years but it seems that quality and standards slipped a bit. Staff was not very helpful or friendly. The ice cream was not a good as well. I left disappointed. With all the other options on the island now it will be a long shot for me to venture back to the horse for sometime.

Hobby Horse is another place that I probably went to years ago but never reviewed(because Unilocal didn’t exist yet) and with so many places in OC all peddling the exact same thing in terms of custard/fro-yo/ice cream it’s easy to not come back to a place for years because you’ve been out trying other spots. It was early in June on a weeknight so the place is deserted and that’s a good thing because it gave me more time to browse as I was picking up an order for the whole group to take back to the house. In terms of price I wasn’t scared off like I thought I might be. It’s not that there are any deals here but it’s not a rip-off either like getting something from say Kohr on the boards where you’re paying a good bit more for a lot a whole lot less. I’m not going five stars here because two things happened which tainted my experience: 1. I order a banana milk shake and there are a lot of chunks in it. Of course not banana chunks which would have been fine but more like ice chunks so yum, that was tasty(blech!). 2. When the girl at counter is running thru everything right before I’m ready to pay she puts the last cup on the counter and says«and here’s your coconut» to which I immediately stop and tell her that there’s no way I ordered that. She tells me that I did which leads me to go thru a whole song and dance that I would never get near that since I’m allergic to coconut. So her suggestion is that maybe she just put the wrong flavor in the cup so why don’t I try it to make sure. Sure, let me try something that I’m allergic to on the off chance that’s what it actually is. #dimwit So I agree to let her try it and thankfully it’s wasn’t coconut but damn, what a hassle! But on the bright side the Peanut Butter Bliss sundae was loved and the person who got some kind of death by chocolate type ice cream also enjoyed theirs. Aside of the ice chunks in the milkshake and aside of the clueless putz working at the counter the majority of what’s going on at Hobby Horse is decent and while I’m in no hurry to come back I’m sure in due time it’ll happen.

I’ve been coming here since I was a baby with my family. They have so many icecream flavors and cone options. I love it

I checked this place out solely because of Unilocal.I saw the reviews and thought I’d give it a try. I was not disappointed. The peanut butter sunday was crazy good! As recommended I had it with one scoop vanilla pb and one with choc pb ice cream. I don’t like chocolate based ice cream, but there chocolate peanut butter ice cream was heaven. I live 90 minutes away from this place. I don’t know if it’s worth the 90 minute drive just for ice cream but it’s definitely tempting.

Large portions of good ice cream. lots of air conditioned seating. My only negative, do not order the kids cup/cone. Half the portion for only 50 cents less.

Ice cream is synonymous with summers at the Jersey shore. The Hobby Horse Ice Cream Parlor doesn’t look that big from the outside, but indeed it is. There was no line outside when I arrived so I figured I would make a quick trip in for some ice cream. Upon entering the parlor I realized that it was actually very big inside with a long narrow hallway filled with people waiting in line. Ah! That’s where all the ice cream cravers were hiding! The last room in the back of the parlor has tables and chairs so that friends and families can sit in air conditioning and enjoy their sweet treats. I have to admit, although the ice cream line was very long it went very quickly. There were a ton of people scooping ice cream and they were very efficient. There were soooo many flavors to choose from that I had enough time to make a decision on my ice cream sundae. I ended up choosing the espresso chip ice cream in a brownie sundae. The ice cream was good and the warm brownies were delicious. It pretty much was heaven in a styrofoam cup. My pregnant friend was with me and when she got up to the counter she still had not made up her mind about her ice cream sundae choice. The ice cream scooper was very patient with her, acknowledging that fact that it was the baby’s fault that Mom couldn’t decide. I think he even gave her a little extra whipped cream. This scooper knows the way to a pregnant woman’s heart. If you are in northern OCNJ you should definitely check out the parlor. Tons of flavors. Tons of sundaes with fresh made brownies and cookies. There is even a coffee counter open during the day. Need another reason? There is a parking lot on site which is helpful with heavy shore traffic.

Best ice cream down the shore and anywhere for that matter! Look forward to coming here all year and we go every night when we vacation in ocnj! The peanut butter bliss Sunday with death by chocolate ice cream is my favorite! All their ice cream is homemade and every flavor I’ve tried is amazing. It’s an adorable family-owned ice cream parlor with pink and purple accents and carousel horses throughout. Must go if you’re in OC!

We have been going for many years! Hobby Horse is a typical Jersey Shore ice cream shop. But it is really cute and always has a line! Hobby Horse Ice Cream Parlor serves 45 flavors of ice cream and yogurt. The shop also offers a gourmet dessert bar and coffee beverages, including cappuccino and espresso. Here is my nation wide ice cream list-http://www.yelp.com/list/ice-cream-gelato-shave-ice-ices-and-custard-nation-wide-new-york-2

As a local, this has always been my favorite ice cream shop in town. Their hard scooped ice cream is out of this world and there are a ton of flavors to choose from. I recommend a waffle sundae. There also is a water fountain in the back with paper cups which is very convenient.
