No No No!!! No on so many levels. I came here late in the day around 3pm. Everything was almost out, it looked like they were getting ready to close. I am mexican! I speak english… I ask the women about dimsum and she doesn’t understand me she looks to the other women and they both don’t know what I’m saying!!! How does anyone run a business with non english speaking employees? Do they only expect Asians to come in??? So I see dim sum in a pan and I point to it I tell her with my fingers how many I want proceeded to ask a question about a pork bun and they have no idea what I’m saying. it was very frustrating coming here everything’s not very tasty. Never coming here again

I came here after yang catalytic converter & muffler shop(across the street) –Hole in the wall very reasonable prices — home cooking — they eat their own food — so you know it’s good — I got some ham & something($ 1.00) it was huge & delicious

Okay went in for like 1 whole min, and there was 3 workers at the counter. 2 was busy on their cell phone and 1 was helping a customer … I was looking at them … What the heck I am in a hurry, stop looking at your freaking phone stop the customer … The food there is alright, if there not a parking lot I don’t think I would go there … I only go once in a long while but dude give me some service okay …

It’s a very solid dim sum place. Yes, it’s grody as hell and the service is nothing special, but if you’re going to random dim sum places, what the hell do you expect? You go to dim sum places for the dim sum, and the dim sum here is very serviceable, and cheap. Not the best I’ve ever had, and I definitely wouldn’t take my mother there or anything, but easily good enough to go back to. And the egg custard tarts are legitimately fantastic, so props on that.

You can never go wrong with Dim Sum here! Always fresh unless you get there really late in the day. Siu Mai, Ha Gow and Char Siu Bao are my faves here! Also the custard buns are a surprising snack as well. This parking lot is always full and beware of the stereotypical Asian drivers as it holds true here!!! But then again this is the place to bust your guts and excite your tastebuds for under $ 5!

haven’t been here in a while(like 2 weeks). thought i’d update… buns are still the best. HAMANDEGG bun. trust me, best in town. go before 930am and fight the crowd. there’s a reason its a circus… because the bread is fresh and it’s damn delicious.

The ladies behind the counter could use a lesson on customer service. They seem to be unhappy working there and having to wait on people even though it’s their job. The pork shu mai and shrimp har how is good so I keep coming back. The sesame mung bean balls are really good but I only go when I don’t feel like dealing with the traffic downtown Oakland. I only recommend it if you are desperate for dim sum take out.

Raising the star up since they renovated the parking lot, about time! Last few times coming here, I haven’t had any problem with parking and leaving the lot. The customer service even gotten a slight better. Hands down to my fave dim sum & pastry =P

This place doesn’t have the best décor or the best dim sum but their breads and egg tarts are really good. Their egg tarts are the best in the bay area. My husband refuses to eat egg tarts from any other place. Every time I come here, I am amazed on how many types of bread they have and their prices are cheap. I can easily fill up a whole box and pay less than $ 10. Every bread I ate was fresh. I know there’s a question about sanitation here but as long as I don’t see anything I don’t want to see, I’m okay with it. When it comes to Chinese restaurants/stores, you should lower your standards. Don’t expect 5 stars for sanitation and customer service when you’re paying less than $ 1 for each item.

As soon as I walked through the door I noticed multiple flies crawling on the buns left out on the tray. If I had time I would have left for another place. The food is very mediocre. Would not be back.

Best Dim Sum? I think NOT. It’s probably the worst Dim Sum I’ve had in years. I tried the following items: Ha Gaw — Pretty tasteless Siu Mai — very salty with soggy outside Steamed Pork Buns — not very tasty, tough meat Chicken bun — probably was the best out of all of them. Interesting filling including egg. Service was pretty rude and blunt with no smiles, but that I don’t really care. They’ve got to do better with their food!

BECAREFUL!!! I found a metallic wire in my food(you could find in your sponge scrub). Disgusted, I’m reporting this. I wasn’t paying attention and almost swallowed this down! Why is this cleaning supply is in their food?!

The lotus leaf wrap was ok. 65 cents per dim sum piece. The ha gow skin was way too thick; sui mai just did taste right… the only redeeming thing was that there was parking in the lot.

After my second visit, I figure I should note some interesting impressions: 1. The parking lot is always full! It’s small, and everybody double parks, blocking you in. 2. The restaurant is filled with men. Both the workers in the back and it’s patrons. I thought that was interesting. 3. The ladies who serve, greatest me so warmly! Which I don’t usually get in Chinatown restaurants. 4. The selection was limited based on the dim sum menus I am used too, but it had the staples, including black bean pork spareribs. 5. The cleanliness is questionable. I didn’t feel like it was dirty, but everything needed to be wiped down. I ordered 3 bbq pork buns($.95/bun), 3 shrimp dumplings($.60/dumpling) and ½ lb of spareribs in bb sauce($ 5/lb). This place is good for dim sum on the go. Personally, I don’t think I would eat in.

Let start of by saying that the default picture is just plain wrong lol someone should change it. My friend has bought me pastries from here several times. Today was my first time setting foot in here. Cheap and good. I don’t know the name of each pastry and food but my favorite is the pork bun which is well known by everyone. Fresh, soft bread and decently stuffed with pork. Just perfect! Everything here is good especially if you’re in a hurry, just grab go. Haven’t tried the dim sum but I will next time.

Needing something for a quick lunch to hold us over until dinner was ready, we rolled up here after getting some specialty groceries at the nearby Sun Hop Fat 1 Supermarket . I had 2 pork Sui Mai, 2 shrimp dumplings(Har Gow), 2 steamed pork buns(Char Sui Bao) & a sesame ball for about 4bucks(and only ate half before getting full). Not bad. I wasn’t a fan of the Har Gow; but then again it takes a really special shrimp dumpling to make me swoon(like the ones from the Dim Sum takeout Good Mong Kok in SF ). However, I loved the Char Sui Boa because the filling was juicy(& it’s better than Good Mong Kok’s). Unlike other reviewers I had great service: the counter help waited for me to decide(even telling someone who tried to skip me to wait) & gave me the freshest stuff they had w/o me having to ask. I don’t remember any seating; so be prepared to dig in while in your ride like we did. Plus, who wants cold dim sum(that’s what you should tell yourself as you pig out in your ride in the parking lot).

This is my go to spot of egg tarts! They are the best! The name of this place is correct, it is THEBEST! Especially for egg tarts. I ordered a box of 150 for work. When I went to pick it up that morning they greeted me with the lovely pink boxes. I opened to see loving piping hot egg tarts! I was soo excited! I even burnt my mouth devouring one of those egg tarts. The crust is so flaky and buttery yet so crispy still! The custard is a bright yellow and very sweet but not overly sweet. It has a very rich custard taste which I find lacking in other places. My absolute favorite egg tarts! I also ordered their xiu mai(sweet bbq pork) buns. Which also came piping with a shiny brown bun. One of the BEST xiu mai buns I’ve had. So fresh in the early morning. It’s a perfect breakfast. I’ve been coming here since I was a young kid with my mom and I am glad they are still around. Yes, it may look a little dingy inside but once you’ve had their egg tarts you will completely forget about it. My mom also always walks out with some of their beef chow fun. That’s her favorite along with the egg tarts.

***My rating is based on the foods here because service here pretty much sucks*** Here’s what they have that I think are yummy: Sesame balls Egg tarts dim sum stuff horn pastry w/cream inside It’s conveniently located and I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I usualy come here every Saturday after eating Phở Ga across the street. I guess I come here enough to kinda be a fan, heh. They’re food isn’t bad and I enjoy it enough. It’s reasonably priced too but don’t expect the workers there to be smiling and giving you great quality service. They’re prolly not treated well and/or dont get paid very much :-\ Is it really THE best? I don’t think so. I’m just a loyal customer who is happy enough here :]

So the other day I was vegetating on the couch. I turned to a channel that had a Karate Kid Marathon. So I started watching. From the first movie with a young Ralph Macchio to the one with Hillary Swank. Each movie becoming progressively more and more corn ballish. I thought to myself, I can’t believe that I used to think these movies were great, and that Ralph Macchio resembled anything cool. Even though I still think and old Pat Morita kickin butt is cool… I mean the man probably couldn’t kick higher than my family jewels.(RIP) But I guess if you think about it, if you got good aim there’s no need to be able to kick any higher, you’ll win every fight. So there was Ralph waxing on and waxing off. And why I thought about this going in to The Best Dim Sum bakery today is because at the end of the movie when he fought in the tournament, the song«You’re the Best» came on. You know how the song goes: You’re the best Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the best around Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own Here’s a clip: As corny as that song sounds, I caught myself singing it as I walked to the fridge for a Vitamin Water. I guess The Best Dim Sum has the right idea similar to The Karate Kid. All the classic hits, chicken feet, tripe, shrimp balls, beef balls, pork buns, and you know the rest. Kind of like Daniel-San finishing dude off with the Krane Kick. You gotta love it. So I had the opportunity to try all the above mentioned items, and while none of the items were«The Best». The food was decent. But they can’t call themselves«The Decent Dim Sum». So I won’t hold it against them. The price was right and was great finger food to watch on the couch while watching… I dunno… A Karate Kid Marathon. Oh yea, and don’t forget«True Strength comes from heart».
