Dr. Szeto is a nice man. I saw him due to having chest pains and at the recommendation of my PCP. Dr. Szeto did an EKG and a sonogram or ultrasound — not sure which — in his office. He told me I’d had a heart attack. He wanted me to take a stress test right away. The pain in my chest started up again — so I went to the ER — where I was told I had not had a heart attack previously. This has been verified by two more doctors(cardiologists). Always get a second opinion.

My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Szeto after detecting a heart murmur during my last annual. On my first appointment, Dr. Szeto sonogrammed my heart and ventricles, and told me everything he was finding. It was quite interesting seeing the sonogram, and having it explained. He referred me for a treadmill test, then had me come back to be fitted for a halter to be worn for 24 hours to get a one-day read on my heart activity. Today I went in for the results, which he explained very thoroughly. I’m OK, but this certainly was a wake-up call to exercise more and to lose some weight. He was direct about that. I find Dr. Szeto to be very competent, and very caring. He called himself an old-fashioned doctor, and I agree with that. I did not feel rushed in and out, nor did I feel that I was just there to earn him a quick buck. He really likes what he is doing, even after over 30 years in practice, and obviously enjoys helping people. I highly recommend Dr. Szeto, and I am a person that approaches M.D.s with caution. I truly wish there were more doctors around like him [note: my primary’s great too, though! — I’m lucky for now].

on a doc’s recommendation, i looked for an internist and found dr. ronald k szeo on anthem’s list of available internist in oaktown. made an appointment via telephone. made the point that i was looking for an internist. at the lst appointment, i was told by the receptionist it would cost $ 300 for an initial consultation since i haven’t «met» my deductibles. plus costs for tests = $ 800. since i wasn’t told this when i make the appointment, i was unable to pay and resheduled. i called anthem regarding the charges. i asked«what about the $ 35 office visits» noted on the card?” they said no call was received from dr. szeto’s office. they didn’t know what«codes» szeto’s office was using in making the charges. 2nd appointment-receptionist again stated $ 300 for the office visit plus $$$ for ekg, tests, etc. i reminded her of the $ 35 office visit, that my deductibles may have been met already… she made the call to ? and told me i had to write pay $ 380 for the office visit and tests. i wrote the check. she told me to undress in the patient office and wait for dr. szeto. while going to the office i overheard dr szeto say: «those ppo’s are a lot of problem»(not in english). dr szeto came into the patient office. asked me who referred him to me. i told him my doc didn’t refer him specificly to me. he told me to look for an «internist» and i found him on anthem’s listing. dr. szeto told me he was a cardiologist, a specialty of internal medicine. thus, he would be unable to take me as a patient. he gave me a referral and told the receptionist to return my check to me. thanx for the referral, dr. szeto.
