Great phở! Large place and doesn’t feel like you gave to maneuver your way through tables to sit comfortably. They actually close at 8pm on weekdays!

I will never come here again… I’m allergic to cilantro so I usally ask to not have it put in my food. Then they came out with a bowl of just noodle and meat. I was hungry and just eat it anyway but I was so MAD. Just because I say no Cilantro doesn’t mean I don’t like onions and scallions. I love freaking Onions! They could have give me the courtesy of telling they per cut everything and put it a big a** pot but they didn’t. Their broth was on the blan side and meat was cut thick. But for thick meat it was okay. Only thing good about this place is that it’s big and looks nice compare to other Phở places another here plus it’s open til 10p. And thatttsss itttt.

I love the phở at this restaurant. I’ve tried quite a few in Oakland and this one is my favorite. The broth has so much flavor. I typically also order the egg rolls. They’re good, not the best but it’s solid. Find yourself a favorite table and settle in!

The way they display their rice plates is beautiful. So many tasty flavors. I dropped a star only because I think the prices went up, but the food is good. I went with my cousin recently and he got a phở bowl.

I really like this place. Close to my office — perfect for phở on a chilly Oakland day. I’ve also gotten the vermicelli salad with grilled pork and the shrimp/green bean stir fry. Both delicious. I’ll definitely be back.

I have eaten phở all around the bay area. Believe me, I’m a big critic. Being from San Jose, my personal belief is the best phở resides in East San Jose. I’ve tried Turtle Tower and the countless other bland spots in San Francisco. After moving to Oakland I was prompted to find my favorite restaurant. This took some time and patience because most spots do not seem to get it. Phở Hiep Hung is my personal favorite. Let me tell you why. The beef broth at this restaurant is amazing. After one sip you already know this family puts their heart and soul into delivering a well seasoned and flavorful soup base 6 days of the week. I’ve been to plenty of restaurants where the broth tastes light on flavor. This is often the result of lack of time and preparation. If you cruise by the kitchen you can catch of glimpse of their gigantic stock pot usually stuffed with meat bones and other ingredients. Not to say other restaurants don’t follow a similar approach but the owners here know how to add a special touch. Portions are sized appropriately. The small is a light meal, the regular is what you would expect from a normal size and the large approaches a level of being excessive. I usually order a large bowl and I leave this restaurant stuffed. The ratio of noodles to meat is acceptable. I generally go with the steak and tripe and get a decent amount of both. If you go later in the day you will typically receive more(pro tip). The atmosphere is beyond welcoming. I frequent this place an average about once a week. I see the same faces and the same children hanging around the restaurant. This is definitely a family environment, you can easily spot out the regulars drinking Heineken’s at the tables up front. The family is also huge on sports. You can always count on the largest basketball or football being displayed on the TV. The service is great. You get seated immediately and your order can be taken on the spot if you already know what you want. In need of extra this or that? Want a special type of combination? Don’t be afraid to ask! The menu is also huge, but I recommend sticking to the phở. If you’re in need of the best phở in Oakland this is your spot hands down. My usual order includes: Large #12 and fried egg rolls with iced tea.

I’ve been to pretty much all of the phở restaurant in Oakland and here is why this is my favorite Phở restaurant. First and foremost this place is clean. They provide good customer service and they give free coffee and soda every Wednesday and Thursday. And who doesn’t love free! The phở itself is very good. And the rare steak that comes with your bowl of is the best in town. But the reason I give this place 4 stars and not 5 is that outside of their phở, everything else on the menu is okay. I wouldn’t recommend anything else other their phở.

If you’ve lived around in the San Gabriel Valley area, this is the kind of Vietnamese restaurant you’re probably used to going to. Food here is cheap and good even if it might look seedy inside and outside. It doesn’t quite knock your socks off for under $ 7 like the great places in SGV/Santa Ana do, but you can do far, far worse by going to any of the phở places downtown which try to capitalize on how hip phở is among(white) Americans rather than providing a good bowl of phở that a Vietnamese person would order. One word of warning though, I would try to avoid ordering anything other than phở unless you have a real craving for it. Vermicelli and rice dishes are done much better elsewhere, but the phở here is incredibly solid.

Phở Hiep Hung has the best phở in the Bay Area! The beef broth was super. When I ordered the beef noodle, i’ve always asked for the thinny hand cut of flank steak on the side, instead of cooking in the broth. That’s a real deal! They also have variety of long grain broken rice plates, which are oustanding as well. Try the egg noodle with chicken(not rice noodle), but ask for the broth on the side. The owner, Mr. Long is one of the most professional and friendly person, he would prepare anything for customer if he has ingrediences. Bun Bo Hue(from the central region of Vietnam), Bun Rieu(crab noodle) are very good too.

What can I say about phở in the AM love it hot and steaming. Service is like any other Asian phở restaurants, you get your food and your on your own from that point. Flag the server if you can get an eye contact if not yell or whistle lol! As I’m sitting there amusing myself. Other than that they are quick and food is descent even when they are busy.

Me and my Mom used to love this Phở place. I ordered a medium Phở Ga with rice noodles and 2 ice coffees and warm tea. My boyfriend ordered the #17 with egg noodles. My mom ordered a small Phở Ga. Long story short my Phở was filled with skin/fat. It looked like they put the waste in my bowl instead of chicken.(See attached photo). My boyfriend got ramen instead of egg noodle and i had to ask for my ice coffee 3X and when it was brought the server just slid it on the table and never stopped staring at the TV. The whole staff had their attention on a soccer game that was playing on a TV that is located at the rear of the store. I was disappointed and asked the server to come over once we were finished and I proceeded to show him all of the fat and skin that was in my bowl along with the incorrect noodle that my boyfriend had received. He stuttered and the female staff member who normally is behind the cash register came over. The 2 then begin to speak in their language. I paid my full bill and we walked out.

Always drive by here and never actually went in. Got some take out the other night and the staff were friendly and service was quick. I got Phở Ga TOGO and it was solid. Free coffee or soda on Wednesdays and Thursdays! I would come back here to eat sometime.

We love this place, it is our go-to Phở spot in Oakland. The family that runs this place is wonderful and we visit almost weekly. We have always ordered the same Phở soup and appetizer and it has been consistently delicious, full of noodles and plenty of meat. We wish we could comment more on the food here but are sort of limited in what we have tried although the other dishes we’ve seen there look pretty good too. The service is very good and if you ever have«communication challenges» with the servers, they are happy to confirm your order with another employee that better understands what you are looking for, but sometimes it is a necessary part of the ordering process(I suppose this confirms the Vietnamese authenticity!). There is usually a game or something entertaining on the TV here but for some reason even though it is obviously a high-def TV, they only watch standard-def on it. On Wednesdays and Thursdays they offer free soda or coffee with your meal, which is definitely a bonus. They are closed on Mondays.

I was rolling around in my Whip White Rabbit in Lower Hills and got a Craving for Vietnamese Soup. So I stopped at Phở Hiep Hung. I was able to park my Whip right In front in the small parking lot. I was greeted and seated and presented with a menu. I ordered the egg rolls and a Medium Sized Bowl of Phở with Beef Balls, Thin Cut Flank Steak and Tendons I received my Egg Rolls first. They were greasy and could have been fresher. Next I received my Bowl of Phở. It was lacking in the Broth and the Meat was lacking in the Quality and Quantity . My Search for a Great Bowl of Phở in the Oakland area continues.

On International Blvd, is this tiny corner Vietnamese Phở place. The server was busy so I sat myself down. I could feel his energy grow more impatient as I sat down and pawned over what to order, mind you, I had just sat down. Like literally. To get him to give me more time, I ordered a Thai Tea. Safe. Safe. Yummy, mmmmm. When he came back, too quickly I may add, I just ordered Phở Ga(chicken noodle phở). The broth was ok. I’ve had better. The chicken meats, could’ve been more and maybe the servings of sides of sprouts and chilis looked ok. Not as fresh as I’ve had before. The noodles were hard to break apart in the bowl, this usually means the noodles weren’t as fresh as other places. The cashier didn’t once look at me while I was paying but she was quick. TVs everywhere and enough space in the restaurant. Will be back again, hopefully with four stars.

I am new to Oakland. Not the bay area– don’t get me wrong. I do know good, local Vietnamese food. So, I am new to the Oakland area, and I was looking for my new go-to Vietnamese restaurant since I no longer have Red Chili in Hayward :(I think I have found it in Phở Hiep Hung. This place is as authentic as you get with some employees not even speaking English! I have been here three times now, and each time the food was excellent. One of my favorite dishes is the vermicelli with grilled pork and the egg roll. It was fresh, grilled to perfection, and flavored just right. Great portions and care. The menu is a pretty good size with a nice mixture of the traditional favorites as well as some chef’s specialties. Besides the traditional fresh spring rolls with shrimp and port, there is a variety of fresh spring rolls, including a grilled pork spring roll which was very tasty. I have yet to try the phở, but if it’s anything like the vermicelli, I’m sure it will be great. Service is prompt and the prices are just right. In fact, I got a free diet coke when I got lunch during the week. The one concern you may have is the neighborhood. It’s not eh best, but not too bad.

Grand Opening Special 20% off with Free Coffee & Soda(until March 15th) Another phở restaurant on the already populated International Boulevard. This place is quite spacious and can probably double their competitor’s occupancy. The price for their beef phở is standard per size, which was atypical to see. $ 5.95 regular. $ 6.75 medium. $ 7.45 large. Free Coffee( ): Interesting how it was served in a styrofoam cup with a straw and lid. But I guess it was to hide the fact that it was filled with ice with about 4 – 5 sips of coffee. At least it was good. Regular Beef & Tripe phở( ): We saw pretty huge bowls at other tables, so I went with the regular size. Wow, the bowl itself was tiny. Not much noodles in my bowl. A small usually fills me. But here, I left feeling unsatiated. Medium #2 phở( ): The medium turned out to be a decent size, although there was not much meat in there. Overall: The beef was good. Hand-cut as evident by the small uneven slices. The phở broth is bland and overly oily with obvious MSG usage. In terms of portion size, they definitely skimped on the ingredients, especially the meat. Hopefully this was only to offset the discounted prices, otherwise I’m doubtful of their success against all their neighboring competitors. 2 stars for food. 1 star for the special.

** Cash Only ** They are open now, and as Victor mentions they have a Grand Opening 20% off discount + free soda or coffee. The free coffee is a small shot of pre-made Vietnamese coffee in a tall Styrofoam cup filled with ice. 2 sips, but I guess it’s the thought that counts? They have beef and chicken phở, hu tieu, rice plates, and bun dishes on their menu. I got the medium combo beef phở($ 6.55) with rare steak on the side and some cha gio /egg rolls($ 4.95). The 4 cha gio were tasty and they provided some pickled carrots and radish. They needed to have been drained more in the fryer as a couple were sitting in a small pool of oil. The beef phở comes with a plate of veggies consisting of sprouts, cilantro, ngo gai(sawtooth herb), jalapeño slices, and a wedge of lime. Basil was noticeably absent. Also, some of the sprouts were browning and looked to be past their prime. The rare steak was not neat slices like you usually see and appeared to be tenderized a bit similar to Turtle Tower in SF.(See my pics) The broth was average. Beefy, but light. There wasn’t much other spices going on, which, with the lack of basil, may indicate a more Northern influence. There was a generous amount of meats except for the tripe which had just a couple of small pieces. All the meats were tender and tasty except the flank which was a bit tough. The noodles were a disaster. There was a stiff ball of noodles at the bottom of the bowl and when partially un-clumpified I found that they were overcooked and in small pieces 1 – 3 inches long(how do they do that?) making eating them an unnecessary challenge. Hopefully it’s just Grand Opening jitters and things will improve as they get into the swing of things.
