Lucia Drive Through Espresso

Not the best coffee as I prefer Peets but it definitely gets an A for convenience. Since I just had ACL surgery and being on crutches for a few weeks I need things to be as convenient as possible and this place hits the nail on the head.

First homie almost gave me a 20 ounce drink when I asked for a 16 ounce soy latte. Then when I got my soy latte the found, to my dismay, that it was a chai latte! We ordered two! Both were chai! That means no espresso! Like who drinks chai are we in 2001? Unfortunately we had driven away and were on the on ramp nearby before we could realize. Make sure to repeat your order loud and clear.

Really good strawberry & pineapple smoothie! Perfect on a hot day. Wish I had gotten a large.

Great little drive-​thru for smoothie and/​or a danish! I always get a pineapple smoothie and a bagel. Both are always delicious!
I only wish their hours were longer.

I drove by this place for years before grabbing a coffee during an oil change one day. To my surprise, it was great! Now I’ve gone many times. They serve Mr. Espresso, my favorite coffee! The employees are always sweet and efficient, which is very important when you’re on your way to work.

the convenience trumps everything else. drawbacks: i think its cash only, and I really wish they had healthier foods and longer hours of operation.

I LOVE THIS LITTLE PLACE! It’s hard to find if you’ve never seen it before. Pull into the parking lot of the speedy oil change place! Usually when I come to Berkeley, I take 580 to the 13 BUT! If I ever take 880 to 24 (exit 51^st street), I ALWAYS u-​turn at shattuck intersection and stop here!!! Coffee is awesome but I really like the smoothies!!! Blueberry & banana is where it’s at!!!
THE BESR SERVICE EVER! Also to all the people who complain about it being drive thru which I personally think makes it more convenient for commuters like myself), you can park your car and walk up to the window…

Best customer service! I typically go weekday mornings and all the gals are awesome! They go to your car window if there’s a line and bring you your order.
I only get the ice coffee from here and it’s really strong! I love it, it’s what I need for my morning commute to the city.

This place may be tiny, but its got wonderful customer service, and yummy smoothies! I would way rather support a small independent business for a smoothie than Jamba Juice, which is about a mile up the road. My usual order is a banana and blueberry smoothie. I’ve also tried an iced and blended (I think) caffeinated drink. They give you the thick straws to drink a smoothie the right way, and the prices are good.
It’s super convenient, right before the freeway entrance to SF, or toward Richmond where you are bound to wait in traffic in either direction. Stop at Lucia’s first, she’ll hook you up!

This place is great. Quick and friendly service is awesome. Weird location, but it’s the only drive-​thru coffee spot I know of locally so it’s a WIN! Try the White Carmella. Delicious!

Lucia’s Drive Thru has to be the most conveniently placed coffee shop for commuters in the bay area. i mean, its «literally» in front of the freeway entrance!
the great thing i like about this place is that the staff are all super friendly… ive been to a handful of Starbucks and Caffino drive thru joints and the employees just dont seem like they want to be there… Lucia’s is the complete opposite…
price wise, i would say the food and drinks are priced on the cheaper side…
quality wise, i would say that they the best in the area… they use Mr. Espresso Beans that they grind fresh with every pot and their espresso beans are the same as well…
during the summertime they have the best smoothies (taste just like jamba juice without the 20 minute wait)
all around great place for an espresso drink or a cup of joe… ask them for the Red Eye coffee… large cup of fresh coffee with a couple shots of espresso… if this doesnt wake you up, you never should have got out of bed in the first place!

The coffee is good, but the lovely people who work here are the real reason to stop by. Although it may be hard to figure out just how they manage to be so chipper each morning, it is always a welcome change from my normal morning mood.
It’s also incredible that it’s a drive-​through… why are there not more places that offer drive-​through coffee and/​or delivery breakfast in bed? Those are my beefs.
Debit or cash. Although they did let my friend slide one morning when their debit machine was broken because she is a regular. Just a testament to their awesome service. See ya tomorrow morning…

Too long a wait. I was in line with one car in front of me. After seven minutes, I left. It don’t know their setup but if it’s a one person place and kiddies are in the back seat of a fancy car, you know they may be ordering up a fancy drink for everyone in the car. Scout it out and if you see that, order a «why bother» instead.

Great location by the on ramp to 24. Organic coffee! Friendly service, they’ll add cream and sugar for you with a smile. You can even drive up on either side of the booth. Too bad the coffee isn’t great…
Because the lines are so bad everywhere else, this is still a go-​to spot when you’re in Temescal and in a hurry.

Oh gosh, their smiles make my morning.
Nothing is more glorious than cheap caffeine that is delivered through your car window with friendly, speedy service. Their coffee is not the most amazing ever but it puts the local Peet’s to shame. The drive through has two service windows, so if one is occupied, drive around to the other side.
Conveniently located next to the freeway, this drive through’s sunny service eases my anxieties of having to face 150 children in the morning. :)

Being born and raised in the Seattle area, and being a fairly new resident of the bay area, it has naturally been my mission to find a great coffee stand to fulfill my caffeine addiction. I quickly discovered that the Bay Area does not offer a wide selection of little, quick drive through coffee stands like how Seattle has about 3 on every street. I had to resort to drinking Starbucks for a few weeks before I found this little place.
I was very pleased by the coffee here, iced or hot, soy milk or regular milk it has been fabulous. While it is still not quite the same as my favorite placed in WA, it does the trick and I am happy to go there often.

This place is quick and easy for a coffee to go.
I’ve been here three times at around 9:30a, and there have never been lines to wait for my drink. I don’t even have to get out of my car!
Apparently, they have free trade and organic coffee, but I can’t say with 100% certainty that they only serve organic and free trade. Maybe I should ask next time I’m there.
The coffee itself is quite tasty. Since there’s no cream and sugar bar for your car, they ask if you would like some added into your coffee for you. In my experience they never add too much or too little, the ladies inside this coffee hut sure know their cream and sugar!
All in all, good coffee done quickly and at a reasonable price.

These people clearly never have stood in line in front of me at Starbucks before I’ve had my first cup of morning coffee.

was in a hurry so i drove in here. they share the lot with pennzoil oil change
entrée: large coffee (1.85) w/​directed sugar and cream. coffee taste barely detectable. service was friendly, quick and efficient. extiting the coffee kiosk may be problematic for some but i have decades experience of driving a commercial truck. even so, i may hesitate to revisit. the compact layout here just invites accidents to occur.
