PLEASEBEWARE especially late at night! There is a guy(I don’t *think* he’s quite homeless) who will try to wash your windows while you gas up late at night. You’ll ask him to stop, and you’ll ask him to leave. He will do neither. He’ll continue to wash your windows, then pitch a fit when you don’t pay him, screaming and waving the squeegee around, calling you all sorts of terrible, nasty names. I’ve been here twice when he’s done that to other patrons, and I’ve seen him while driving by on other occasions. Half the time I come here, it’s fine. Crowded, but fine. The other half of the time I’m approached by panhandlers. Some are druggies, some are harmless homeless, some are trustafarians in muddy clothes but also wearing Converse shoes(not knockoffs).

Just because something is in Oakland does not make it shady. These reviews might be a liiiiitttle bit racist. This Arco is NOT shady. It is just a gas station. If you think it’s shady, what are you doing in Oakland? How do you live thinking you are a target of a murder plot constantly? I would love to see the car spas with fountains and attendants that pass muster as «not shady» in some reviewers’ opinions. It’s totally fine, and it’s an Arco, so of course it’s debit/cash only. EVERY Arco is debit/cash only, and there is ALWAYS a 35 cent fee for debit. That’s just the drill. The mini-mart is fine, and everyone has always been really nice. Minus one star for being crowded and a little hard to navigate, but that’s because it’s cheap gas off the freeway– what are you going to do?

Not exactly the classiest joint in Temscal, but hardly the worst gas station in Oakland either. It’s busy, because it has the cheapest gas around(plus usual Acro nonsense about debit card fees and no credit cards). The place is frequented by those«awesome» cars with huge wheels and other wanna bes. Of course, the local hipsters largely don’t have cars, but its location near a freeway exit, as well as a major neighborhood interestion(51st vs Shattuck) ensures it has lots of traffic.

I hate it. It’s always crowded. The machine rejects cards for no reason. If you want to pay inside there’s a long wait. It is frustrating and stressful. I will not go there again — it’s worth it to spend a few minutes driving to somewhere that’s set up better.

This place rips you off. On September 22, 2011 I put around $ 35 into my gas tank that only takes 14 gallons and my ATM card was charged $ 100. When I discovered the discreptancy I asked the clerk to speak to the owner and was told he would be there later that afternoon. My claim was turned down by my bank(WFB) because they said ARCO claimed they were not at fault. What’s up with that? WFB had a history of my patronizing this station every 2 weeks and averaged $ 38.00 each time. I usually get a receipt but there was a panhandler standing next to my car and I didn’t want to leave it to go to the machine because my purse was in there.

This has got to be one of the worst gas stations to go to. AM/PM? After visiting this place about 10 times over the last 3 years, I called it quits. They over charge for everything in the store. The inside of this place is dirty and the parking near the bathrooms stinks like urine right when you get out of your car. Forget about buying anything inside the store once the doors are closed, unless you like giving your ATM PIN number to the clerk. ARCO, and all the arcos around the bay area, you have all lost my business for low level gas and crappy service. This place is a health hazard and just puts out bad vibes.

It’s always crack-me jack-me hour at this Arco! Hey, you’ve been warned. It’s ghetto as hell. You will probably get panhandled and you just might forget to close out your pump, so you’ll get jacked for that too. They charge 45 cents to use your ATM(no credit cards!) so this usually means you’re gonna pay the same price as the cleaner spot down the street. All in all it’s location and convenience keeps me going back for more!

Cheap gas rocks. A few quarters will buy you air or water outside. The minnie mart has everything else inside. The only downside is that there’s a line at the peak times and occasionally some of the customers, and non-customers, are even more unsavory than your bargain-seeking self. If you want the vanilla Arco AMPM just drive east on 24…

1 stars for the gas prices $ 2.79 today for a gallon of gas. 1 stars for right off the the 980 freeway. 1 stars for being open 24⁄7. 1 stars for being well lit, bright. 1 star for being clean. –1 star for rude clerks/employees –1 star for cop activity in the evenings This is a huge gas station that is always busy. It has a fairly large sized am pm mini mart. Mini mart has all your basic gas station snack shop items. In addition you can get all kinds of Oakland wear caps, beanies, etc. if that’s what you’re lookin for. Most of the clerks that I have encountered in here over the years are pretty darn rude to the customers, but in way I kinda can’t blame them as they have to take so much sh– — from customers all day n all night. Dollars to donuts you can bet something is always going down at this place in the evening; cops pulling folks over, cops friskin folks, cops pullin guns on folks. I’ve seen a lot of stuff at this place late at night, but then again, ya gotta rememba this Oakland baby.

Cash/ATM only, and they charge you a service fee for using the ATM. We were in a rush, so we decided to tolerate the ATM surcharge, except the ATM machine didn’t work! Oh, and the guy says, we have to restart the system. It will take 2 min. We don’t have 2 min!!! We are late for our appointment. Annoyed, I empty out my wallet and hand him $ 20.(Paying things w/cash means I have to manually input the expense in our expense tracking system. More work for me. Annoying.) It’s located right across the street from the I-580 on-ramp, and the price of gas is almost always one of the cheapest in the area. Despite these positive attributes, filling up at this station is always a big hassle. Having to pay cash or with ATM is a huge minus. The station is almost always packed, and you must wait. The staff people are not very friendly. Thank goodness for our usual gas station that offers ease of access, payment with credit card, and cheap prices, Quick Stop!

My guy friends take twice as long as I do to get ready… so instead of leaving Santa Cruz at 9AM as planned in order to make the K.C. guest list before 11 $ 5 dealio. we left at 9:30 and had to take out twenty dollars… SIGH. BOYS! YOUAIN’T THATPRETTYORLUXURIOUSANYWAYS. The ATM worked and they had snacks and some drank for the guys to gulp, chew and chug before dropping it like it’s hawt at 1408 Webster… We didn’t see shady folks. unless you count my friends who were playing the song«Hit that B#$# with a bottle» by miz understood. Kahlil next time don’t play that in front of little children!

While not the shadiest nor most depressing Arco in town, this place still isn’t the one you want to hang out in for long. There is clearly a ton of suspect behavior going on with folks hanging out here, answering phone calls, walking up to cars and coming back and hanigng out some more. And the staff, o this is a full service Am/PM as well but you wondered with pithy staff like this why they’re not behind bullet proof glass. Where is your motor oil? ask I. «I don’t know if we have any. We have mostly food» Are you serious? «Yeah I don’t know» Well who would know? And sure enough some guy who arrives behind the counter points it out hiding along the way. I get it come back and some woman behind me complains about people taking too damn long to put their change in their wallet on her cellphone, thanks lovely. Cheap Gas or not, I won’t be back here soon.
