I’ve been seeing Dr. Cortez(Jaime) for several years now and have a huge amount of gratitude, respect, and appreciation for both him and his staff. He has really been a live saver for me and I feel puts his patients well being before his financial needs. I have to admit there can be a bit of a wait sometimes, but that is true for almost any Doctor you visit. When I have had to wait he and his staff have been very generous and flexible in other ways that I doubt you would find in most Doctor offices. Thank you so much Maria and Venna! Dr. Cortez, unlike the previous reviewer’s account, has never rushed through any visit with me over the course of the last 5 – 7 yrs that he has been my primary care physician. He is always very thorough making sure he has addressed all of my ailments and he will even spend the extra time to research the cheapest place to buy any new medication he is prescribing. I’ve seen Doctors in the past that only gave you an allotted amount of time with them, Dr Cortez isn’t one of them. Jaime, as many of his patients call him, is very down to earth and personable. He is generally always smiling and in a good mood, if not a little stressed from putting in a long day(I usually see him before they close). Recently suffering from some terrible stomach pains I popped in on Jaime after they had closed. I was lucky he was willing to see me, as I would have spent hours in the emergency room in pure agony. I was there for at least 20 – 30 minutes after they had closed while he thoroughly checked me out. He ended up prescribing some pain medication to get me through the night and recommended a follow-up visit if things didn’t get any better. Luckily, for me my symptoms went away and I was able to sleep through the night as a result of some well prescribed pain medication. As usual, Jaime really came through for me and I really feel lucky to have him as my Doctor. Thanks Jaime!(AKA Dr. Cortez)

I went to see Dr. Cortes because he is near my house, and I figured given the location the rates would be reasonable; the rent in his building is really cheap(I know the landlord actually– fellow Canadian!). The doctor and his staff were really nice, but I was a disappointed in the service and the price. Here is the situation: I’m Canadian and just moved to the USA. I had a current Canadian prescription for an insulin pump but needed a routine form signed by a US doctor since Medtronic was sending me a new pump. So I showed up with all the forms and copies of all my Canadian medical records, filled out some paperwork, and was told it would be a 15 minutes wait. Instead it turned out to be two hours! I would go up every 30 minutes and check in and each time I would be told«just 5 – 10 more min» and it wasn’t until the 4th time and threatening to leave did I finally get seen. What’s even more annoying is that when I finally saw the doctor he just signed the form, and was done in less than 60 seconds. He didn’t do any kind of exam on me or ask many questions; nothing. We talked for a couple min about Canada vs. US health care but all in all it was less than a 3 minute visit. I nicely asked if he could give me a break on the fees explaining I was happy to pay for an appointment/exam but I was forced to wait for a very long time and we both knew he was simply signing a piece of paper. I was told by Dr. Cortes that he wasn’t in charge of the payments and to talk to the front staff. When I asked them I was informed it was Dr. Cortes that set the prices and such as it is his practise. I just gave up and paid… Had I not been made to wait so long, or if the doctor had just been straight forward instead of trying to pretend he wasn’t really in charge I would not be so mad. I don’t like games and I don’t like being made to wait unnecessarily. Maybe it just me, but I was really disappointed. I will also comment that the waiting room is pretty poorly maintained, and not the most pleasant place to be in.
