Breakfast Chef has an attitude towards customers. Especially when you change your order or have a special request. I won’t be back. Food is ok.

Yes Yes Yes, Every time my daughter gets admitted to Children’s Hospital I know that I will have decent meals during our stay. I love the fact that they have 3 meals and service from 7am to 7pm. My little one Sofia did not eat at home because she was waiting for the accountant to take her to visit her sister for like 10 seconds then we both go to the 2nd floor Café and order a Bacon Cheese burger with regular fries. Each. Apart from that the salads are pretty good and during lunch they break out the salad bar. Usually when there is family member in the hospital our duty as family is to make sure they have everything available from clothing to taking food to them. But yeah it was cool that they would go to my house and bring me fresh fruit of the loom undies(just kidding) but then they know that the food thang is something that they know they don’t have to worry about. My little nieces and nephews would also come visit and so we didn’t overwhelm Sara in here private suite I would take everybody to the cafeteria and feed them. Boy did my debit card get used alot in 4 days but ah what ever, that’s life Yes there are other places that we can eat but why so somewhere else when you can have decent freshly grilled food at your finger tips. I proudly work at Kaiser but do not eat anything from there, I crave Friendly Café when I walk in our cafeteria. Sounds dorky but it’s true. Baby Sara don’t get sick again but if you do then you will see a smile on my face as well and you know why …

Nice people, tasty hospital cafeteria food, fair prices. I eat breakfast here a couple of times a week, and am never disappointed with my meals. You can grab coffee, juice, milk, and soft drinks to go with your meals. They offer a chaffing dish line with all the normal breakfast pleasantries as well as a grill where you can order up something fresh and hot. Vending machines will take care of you when the kitchen is closed. The best part is that they have Sriracha hot sauce!

I came here to grab a quick lunch while on the go. The place was bustling, but that’s to be expected during the lunch hour in a hospital. They had multiple stations that each cooked something different. One had sandwiches, another had wraps, another had pastas, and another had burgers and fries. There’s plenty of drinks to choose from and chips as well. I was happy because I got to grab a turkey sandwich on dutch crunch. Oh how I love dutch crunch! I’d actually never even knew it existed until I moved to the Bay Area… Anyway, I’m getting sidetracked. I was able to grab a huge half a turkey sandwich, a bag of chips, and a water(you can get soda too) for about $ 6. Not too shabby. Let me warn you though, that they only take cash. But don’t worry because there is an ATM in the café.

The only reason I feel compelled to write a review about this place is because if visit it more than any other eating establishment. It is the cafeteria in one of the places I work. I am definitely more of a make and bring your own lunch kind of girl… However, the challenge seems to lie in getting my lunch off of the kitchen counter, to the car, then to the work refrigerator. I have tried to master this skill for most of my adult life and still have shown no improvement; in fact I think I might have gotten worse over the years. Well, the friendly café is far from gourmet but very convenient. As most hospital cafeterias they specialize in what I love to call«hangover food» hot dogs, hamburgers, quesadillas, grilled cheese… Grill food. Since I am currently forced to work every Saturday this smörgåsbord of greasy grimy grill decadence has been good to me.(Note to self… Unilocal Happy Hour not conducive to Saturday 7 am work) The folks at the friendly café customize my egg sandwich for me with egg whites, veggies instead of meat, and wheat toast to ease the guilt of consuming my allotted amount of calories spent on binge drinking the night before. .And quite honestly my arse is getting bigger from all the drinking you Unilocal people make me do. Thank you friendly café for knowing my Saturday morning routine and making my hangovers a little more tolerable
