I love this place! Down to earth yet very culturally enlightened! Lovely classical music played in the background and a welcoming cup of great coffee. They are not married, but family members and they work together beautifully. I am impressed with their sweet nature and their great cosmetology skill. They do a great job with coloring and their shampoo skill is comparable to the finest spa. I can’t believe my good luck living in a neighborhood so close so as to have this incredible team as my beauticians! I can’t say enough about this wonderful place. I’m so very, very pleased!

I agree with the other 5-star reviews below. I want to add that they do a great job in cutting my two sons’ hair(ages 6 and 8). They don’t do fancy haircuts, but if your hair is low maintenance and a clipper cut works for you, they are awesome. Also a very nice, sweet couple. You can request a haircut with a chair massage of shoulders and neck, their prices are awesome. Love them.

Horrible haircut experience!!! I really wanted to like this place & expected to based on the reviews however I had a bad initial cut & follow up cut to fix the first one. It was an older gentleman who cut my hair. I told him exactly what I wanted & also brought a pic of the other main way I wear my hair(it’s very short & I have two main styles). He cut my hair leaving my bangs too long & very uneven. I showed him where I wanted them cut to & he cut them shorter. The next day I went to style my hair the other way(«up”/messy/spikey) but couldn’t b/c half the hair on the top of my head was longer than the other half! I went back to have him fix it & he ended up cutting it even shorter which I didn’t want — I specifically said I just wanted the longer side to be made even with the shorter side.

An affordable and excellent value! The owner was an artist as well as friendly and professional. It is an exceptionally clean establishment and a I received a great haircut!(Also they accept Credit Cards, very nice considering many other salons do not.)

I can’t say enough good things about the Family Salon Massage. I live nearby and after trying out one of the(over-priced) «old-school» barber shops near JLS I decided to stick to my local neighborhood. I found the Family Salon Massage and now I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. Selfishly I am hesitant to write this review because soon enough this place will no doubt become a packed house, but the owners are such kind people that I feel like it’s a responsibility to give them the credit(and hopefully more business) they deserve. I will say that I have only experienced their haircuts, though I have been planning to try out the massages as well. Their services are incredibly affordable and both Zhan and Jon are very kind, professional, conversational and overall positive people. Oh, and I am always pleased when I get out of the chair and have a great new haircut. One anecdote I’d like to share is that I recently stopped by for a cut and had a pretty bad cough. They repeatedly asked if I was ok and then even gave me a cough drop and some warmed water. It may not seem like much, but it felt like a very caring gesture at the time(maybe they just wanted to get the guy coughing all over the place out as quickly as possible ha). Either way I appreciated it. TLDR: They’re great. Affordable, friendly, efficient, high-quality haircuts — 5⁄5 recommend.

Sheer laziness/convenience brought me to Family Salon. When I got invited to a fancy cocktail party this weekend, I knew wearing a dress meant de-fuzzing the 2+ months of leg hair I’d been cultivating out of sheer lack-of-effort. Now that the weather has turned cold, rainy and grey, I was disinclined to trek over to Grand Ave. for my usual waxing appointment at my regular place, so after my morning coffee at Rooz, I decided to give this place a try, and I’m glad I did. Zhan and John are the very nice couple that own /run this salon, and made me feel very comfortable, and welcomed. Their salon is very clean, neat, organized and cozy, with two private rooms in the back for the massage /spa services. Since it was not a very busy day, Zhan asked if it was OK if John helped with my leg wax. I’ve never had a guy wax my legs before, but I’ve had a male nail technicians, hair stylists, and massage therapists in the past so I figure, «same difference». Having two people wax your legs at the same time was definitely an interestingly efficient experience. Both Zhan and John are pros– quick, meticulous, and thorough. I was not discomforted with having John wax/tweeze my legs as he was polite, professional, and both he and Zhan kept me entertained with conversation. Their combined ministrations made my evolution from Mr. Tumnus stand –in to Party-dress ready a breeze. When it came to the the delicate task of waxing my upper thighs and bikini line, John politely excused himself and let Zhan continue with the rest. When waxing was finished, Zhan wiped down both legs with a damp, hot towel to make sure I did not get wax on my pants before putting them on. The end result is probably one of the best leg waxes I’ve ever had for a fraction of what I would have paid at my regular salon(and this includes a very generous tip for them both). Overall, I’m extremely happy with the service I received, and will come back next time and try their massage. Here is the breakdown: +2 Stars for Service: Zhan and John are super sweet, friendly, and welcoming. They are a husband /wife duo, and it was kinda cool to see them working together as a team. Another client came in for a hair cut toward the end of my wax, and John was cheerfully engaging him in conversation. Overall, really nice people that care about their clients. + 1 Star for Cleanliness: no double dipping in the wax, fresh towels on the pillow and to cover for modesty, bed completely covered in disposable paper, everything in the waxing room was tidy, neat, and in order. +1 Value: As a small neighborhood shop, their amenities are simple(so don’t expect any frills) but are efficient and comfortable. they offer a range of services– hair, nails, facial, massage and waxing, so I give them props for the creative ways they maximized/decorated their space to make it both functional AND inviting. +1 Convenience: Admittedly, this is a bit biased because i live only 2 blocks away, but because this is a neighborhood hidden gem, appointments are easy to make = no waiting. My wax appointment took 1.5 hours for a full leg and bikini because Zhan took the time to tweeze almost every hair off, and did not have to rush to get to her next client. I love that attention to detail and customer care! In summary, if you live in the Cleveland Heights /Park Street area, and are in need of some quality, budget-priced pampering, this small, local business is your place to go!

Great everything salon. Cheap men and women haircuts and done great! I’ve been coming here since I came across it walking around and a year later still come back for massages, hair color and especially nails. Definitely recommend this place and love that they have late hours for working people!

What a wonderful experience going to this local business. They did a wonderful job cutting my hair and the price was very reasonable. If you are in the neighborhood and need a haircut or massage, this is the place to go. If you write a review, you will have a chance for a free massage.
