This place has great food. no question. I don’t go there anymore though, because of one small change they made about 3 – 4 months ago. You need to cover 10 dollars to use a debit/credit card. I live close by and used to walk in for a Street taco or two, but without cash(I usually don’t have it as I use a card a lot) you can’t just walk in unless you want to buy more food than you can eat as one person. Why can’t they just charge 35 cents more for the card use I don’t understand. Still its very good and yummy.

First, I would like to mention that the family that runs this place is super nice. I have always been greeted and served with such a warm and friendly attitude. Service is quick and efficient and I have always gotten the correct order. Prices are decent too. If you are coming here for tacos, I wouldn’t recommend it; they are good but not amazing. What really stands out is the Caldo de Pollo and the Chile Verde. Both are excellent dishes that I have almost weekly. Burritos are pretty tasty too. I also love the agua frescas since they aren’t a mix and are made with fresh fruit. Oh! and I love their Mexican rice. ingredients are always fresh and consistent. Overall, I think this is a super cute, family run establishment that offers good food at decent prices.

Ordered delivery on GrubHub… food was an hour late! Ordered at 6:42. Received a text at 7:47 that it was picked up by the driver, but didn’t get to my door until 8:50. Soggy nachos, cold quesadilla, rubbery, greasy tacos. The only reason this is not a one star review is because there’s a slight chance the driver was the one who screwed us over. There was a flavor to the cold food that might have been good had the food been fresh… or maybe i was just starving after waiting two hours for food. If you’re hungry on a weeknight this is not your place for delivery, or for a business who cares about your experience. I tried calling them directly and didn’t get an answer, also got a full voicemail.

Friendly service and comfortable seating, but food was not great. We had the pastor nachos and a few different Mexican style tacos. The chips and tortillas were all Safeway quality and the meats weren’t that tender or tasty.

This was my first time here, and I was pretty pleased with it as a spot to get an affordable Mexican brunch, sit on the patio with a dog. I got the Huevos Rancheros breakfast plate for $ 7.50. It was eggs, tomatoes, little bits, and jalepenos all scrambled up, served with rice, beans, tortillas, and a side of avocado. It wasn’t anything incredible, but it was pretty tasty and affordable. My buddy got the huevos con jamon, and it seemed like a simple ham omelette basically. The food wasn’t incredible, and it was clear that it was just burrito fillings deconstructed, but I’m not complaining. The ingredients were fresh. They told us the rice wasn’t ready yet, so we subbed out avocado, and they ended up bringing us the rice anyway! I’m always into brunch hacks, and the fact that this spot has a breakfast menu, a great porch, and affordable prices makes it a place I’d come back for.

This seems to be a pattern for me: 1. Hear about a restaurant and get really excited to eat there. 2. Eat there and be rather disappointed. 3. Try the same item there again a few weeks later and be completely blown away by deliciousness. Chile Jalapeño Taqueria you have won me back and given me hope for a California burrito in the bay area! The first time I ordered this burrito, I was heartbroken to get about a quarter through without a hint of sour cream; I asked for some on the side and wasn’t charged, but was believing all this time that it wasn’t standard on this burrito. This time, I asked to replace guac with sour cream and was informed all the burritos come with guac, sour cream, and pico. Well what a surprise! I explained my confusion and he apologized for the previous mistake. The service my first time here was totally fine, but this day it was really exceptional(while I was waiting, he kept assuring me it was coming, I didn’t think I looked that impatient!!). I adore this California burrito because instead of using standard French fries, they use hash browns! This makes the potato meld into the other contents of the burrito much better. Often, the crispy fries will stay dry and just keep me from getting that cozy, comfy mouth feel that I love in a burrito. Everything about this burrito(which I waited about 10 minutes for, not bad but I was hungry) was absolutely magical. It was huge, it was stuffed, the fillings were all evenly distributed, and there was SOMUCH sour cream. Sour cream is my favorite part about(Americanized) Mexican food and it is always so disappointing to find it’s only a little bit on one end of a burrito(especially when you’ve started at that end). The meat was juicy and by the time I got to the end the blend of sour cream and carne asada juices were dripping from the foil. The previous time I’d ordered this burrito, the hash browns seemed quite clumped together, keeping the middle potato parts from getting in touch with any other flavors. This burrito had much better construction, it was clearly made with care and love.

Ok so I have given this place a few tries. Clean. Nice owner. Just paid 10 bucks for a chicken soup. But only 1.5 ounces of chicken. One small piece.

No comprehensive review needed. I’ve been to this place more than a dozen times by now. They have good food along with convenient parking and good customer service. The food is prepared quickly and there is typically enough seating to accommodate whoever I come with. I will definitely be going back.

True rating: 3.5 stars Cute spot with seating indoors and outdoors. Lovely music, bright orange walls, and great customer service. I love burritos specifically from taco trucks in the 209(Livas!!), so it’s hard to find something authentic in the bay that isn’t outside of the mission. This would be dubbed a reliable east bay Mexican spot. Ordered a chicken & chile verde super burrito with a side of guacamole and chips. Super burrito 3.5÷5 — size is pretty big! I shared it with someone else which is a plus on caloric intake and the bank ;). Tortilla was soft and warm. Definitely not chewy or excessive. Ratio of filling to shell was solid as well. The chicken was tender and covered in the slightly tangy chile verse sauce. The rice was not super authentic but the flavor overall was nice. If the rice was on point I would give this 4 stars. The burrito comes with a small spicy sauce that’s oddly cooling. Guacamole — solid. Properly salted with tomato onion and cilantro. Appreciated that there was more avocado than other ingredients too. Chips — light and crunchy. Kind of Frito-like. I’ve have better chips from North Berkeley La Burrita for example or even the soybean«have a chip» bags. Overall ok.

I live close by, so I indulge frequently. Chicken Chile verde burrito is my go to. That and the veg burrito. And the steak quesadilla. All solid. Clean place clean food, nice staff. In really like their patio area also. I don’t like being too rosy cheeked… I’m not saying I’d drive across town to come here, but I’m pumped that is less than 5 minutes walk from my casa. PUMPED.

Worst chicken burrito I’ve ever had, ever. So disappointing! The chicken — you know, the part that makes it a chicken burrito? — is inedible. They use the grizzle, the nasty, rubbery part of the chicken you can’t actually chew. It’s a rubbery, grizzly burrito. Nothing tasted fresh, even the salsa tasted like it was out of a can. Sad, sad day in the east bay!

Ay por favor. They call it Chile Jalapeño, telling how important Chile is to them and Yet, when i ordered a Chile Relleno, guess what? It was CHILEENLATADO(canned chile!) !!! How can you make chile relleno with canned chile??? OMG! It was like right out of a can of Ortega’s Canned Chile Poblano! No hombre! You gotta be kidding! And apparently the owners are Mexican– I figured it was a family business, at least that’s what it seems. I know how to make chile relleno, and this ain’t it! Well they lost me forever.

The lady, Brenda, who served us was very friendly. We came because we had a groupon. I heard mix reviews about the service before I came here. Its a casual place to eat you grab your own silverware and sauces. We each got 3 tacos. We were served very quickly. The food was very good. So personally I had great service. I would go to this restaurant if i were close by and someone was in the mood for Mexican food.

Breakfast burritos are to die for. It’s all made fresh as it is ordered. The staff are very polite and courteous. Take out service is faster than MCD, J’Box, or other fast food places. Much better quality. Very attentive to customer needs and wants. Changing my 4 star to a 5. Uh, yeah!!!

CJT is place that has consistently high quality Mexican food each and every time you visit. This is a regular visit for me and on each occasion, I get a regular sized grilled chicken burrito. Every time it’s prepared to perfection and satisfies my hunger well into dinner time(I eat there at lunch). Location wise it’s in a bit of a «transitional» neighborhood so be sure and park in their lot. If you have to park on the street, hide your belongings. You can tell CJT is the real thing because you hear as much Spanish being spoken by patrons as you do English. The owner(Able) is very hands on and strives for perfection. He’s a friendly guy that will welcome regular and newbies alike.

Ordered their chicken soup and it was fantastic. Homey and delicious. Comes with a large hunk of chicken, veggies, rice, avocados, and tortillas –just like my grandma served it. I never thought about ordering from them but I will for sure in the future. Keep up the good work!

Update: food quality is a hit or miss. Wanted red sauce on my enchiladas but when I got home… there were no sauce. Enchiladas was very dry. Unsatisfied. Always make sure you check your order before you go home. Also the pork tamales wasn’t that good. First time trying it today. Barely no pork. 95% corn and 5% shredded pork. Previous review: Love the prices. Affordable. Cute, small restaurant. Staff were nice. Got a Groupon but the prices are still great without it. It was my first time here. Plenty of parking along San Pablo. I had the super steak burrito and enchiladas. Both were excellent. My husband loves it too.

Another place I can cross off my list and never to cross paths again. Finding hair in your food — nuff said. Glad the food was a tastebud disappointment too because there’s nothing here to have us coming back. When you have to add more to make it taste better, then it’s not worth eating at all. It’s like covering yourself with makeup, it’s not who you are but you do it to make you look better. I needed extra condiments and avocado to make it worth eating then washing down disgust of hair in my food with water. No Bueno.

This taqueria is our favorite place for Mexican food in Oakland! We first started coming here for lunch when we were looking for a quick lunch spot near Berkeley Bowl and now it’s our go-to for authentic taqeria-style burritos and grilled entrees. It’s also very vegetarian and vegan friendly, so it’s a perfect place for both my fiancé and me to enjoy. My favorite meal here is the vegan burrito, which is filled with a delicious mix of exotic mushrooms, zucchini, beans, rice, potatoes, guacamole and pico de gallo plus a giant cup of sandia agua fresca. We’re not talking about the typical rice and bean and maybe tofu burrito that other places offer to vegans. The guacamole and chips to share is a must too!

I’ve come for lunch 3 times to use my Groupon for dine-in. They were located on San Pablo Ave between Ashby Ave and Alcatraz Ave in Oakland. The first time I ordered a Super Carnitas Burrito and Chips with Guacamole for dine in. I was not offered complimentary Chips and Salsa. The burrito was the best of all the burritos I’ve ordered. The Chips came in a bag and the Guacamole came in a small Styrofoam container. The Guacamole was watery. The second time I ordered a Regular Steak Burrito and a Regular Bean & Cheese Burrito for dine in. I was automatically given complimentary Chips and Salsa. The steak was cut in small cubes and was dry. It could have used some salsa. The Bean & Cheese burrito tasted better the next day microwaved so the cheese was melted. The third time I ordered 2 Super Bean & Cheese Burritos for dine-in. I had to ask for the complimentary Chips and Salsa. Again, the burrito tasted better the next meal microwaved. The burritos were large enough for 2 meals. They also have Platillos, Quesadillas, Street Tacos, Tortas, Nachos, Soups, Salads, and even Breakfast Burritos. The do not use lard or MSG. The water is self-serve and was outside on the patio. The bathrooms were located outside in the back too.

Chile Jalapeño is currently my go-to place for Mexican food in Emeryville. Their food is made without MSG or lard, which is a pleasant surprise, and it tastes GOOD. I come here for their al pastor burrito. A regular costs about $ 6 and comes with chips + a small cup of salsa. Their burritos are quite big, almost Chipotle-sized, and usually last me 1.5−2 meals – definitely the most bang for your buck. The salsa is not that great, in my opinion, but good enough. They actually have quite an extensive menu. There’s so much I want to try from here, but haven’t gotten around to ordering yet… Also, there’s an outdoor patio in the back that looks perfect for a warm, sunny day. I’ve always come here during my lunch break, so I’ve only ever taken my food to-go. Service is excellent and food comes out fast!
