I purchased a voucher for a gel manicure on Amazon Local. I’ve called several times and was never able to get an appointment before my coupon expired. She was always booked. Since she wasn’t willing to extend my voucher I am only giving her one star. Other businesses have been willing to extend when they are overbooked.

I purchased a voucher for a gel manicure on Amazon Local, after looking at their beautiful website. I’ve called 20+ times and left multiple messages to try and schedule an appointment in the last few month. I am still waiting for a call back!!! I have never tried this hard to try to get an appointment with anyone! Even if they call back now, I would be hesitant to go because I doubt they know what they are doing!

Carolyn was delightful. ignore negative reviews. My gel manicure is beautiful and the personal touch and attention was very welcome. Parking is easy, prices are fair and facility is clean and welcoming. In addition to quality work, Carolyn is has many clients with health conditions such as diabetes and cancer that require special treatment of cuticles and nails in order to make manicuring safe. She accommodates these needs and is especially caring in her work.

I went today with a coupon and found the owner to be detail-​oriented but quick which was fantastic, because I hate spending more time than I need to but I also don’t want someone rushing and it looking like they rushed. My nails look great and as a self-​employed woman I appreciate going to businesses that are owned by women. She helped me pick a color because I was kind of indecisive, and I’m very happy with it. I think I’ll go back for a pedicure at some point because she was professional and welcoming (and talented).

Carolyn is great, she’s very personable, friendly, and professional. She makes you feel welcomed and does her work with attention to details. I’ve been coming to her a few times now and she never disappoints.

Wow! What a relief! I had the most incredible experience today at Bare Canvas. Carolyn is attentive and a perfectionist. Her shop is CLEAN and warm! My feet and hands are absolutely beautiful. I am relaxed as well. I’m a new faithful customer! Thank you Living Social!

I wish I could give more stars!!! Bare Canvas is one of the BEST salons in Oakland, CA. It’s very clean, you get your own implements every visit, the aroma is amazing when you walk inside and the owner Carolyn is wonderful. Shes up to date with the latest trends and your happy with your Mani/​pedi. Not to mention it’s a cool relaxing quite atmosphere.

I’m normally not a fingernail polish person, but Ms. Carolyn suggested the latest in nail care — the «shellac» which last up to 14 days; I love it and the price it right: o}

As an international traveler, its important for my feet to be in tip top shape have that «jet-​set» look when my toes are visible.
The owner, Carolyn, gives me just that, especially when I’m rockin’ that «platinum Minx».
I love the peaceful, serene atmosphere of her studio, the absence of chemical products and the fact that she is always ready for her clients at their scheduled appointment time. There is never a wait and her customer’s satisfaction is definitely a priority.
She takes pride in her on-​going education thus staying on top of all the latest techniques. i. e, 14 day manicure aka Shellac and Shatter. Carolyn «nails» it everytime!

Love Bare Canvas. I’ve been going there for about a year now and am still impressed by the cleanliness and high end products Carolyn uses. She’s open to trying way out color combinations, and she ALWAYS has the most current color selections. And I second the recommendation on the expresso machine!

Another place where the five stars are made up of employees. This place is alright, you just have to be patient.

I love this shop because it’s chic, clean and quiet. I have visited this shop now for about three months. I am highly pleased with the level of service I have received.

I love Bare Canvas… It’s relaxing and thoroughly clean. Carolyn has all the new products based in nail care and nice accessories as well. My favorite part of my visit is the warm pillow to rest your neck. It helps me to block all the stress and negativity away. I recommend «Bare Canvas» for mani and pedi pleasures… Just as long you don’t pick my favorite nail color!

Hours later, I still marvel at my feet, which are as silky soft as a babies’ bottom! Sadly, there are too few African American owned nail shops in Oakland, but I think the professional and quality service found at Bare Canvas is a big boon to them all.

Every two to three weeks, I happily pamper myself with a spa treatment at Bare Canvas. I look forward to my appointments in Carolyn’s sheek salon where the atmosphere is inviting & peaceful. No waiting in line or struggling to read my magazine over the intrusive chattering of others; I arrive at my set appointment where I’m greeted with a smile, receive exclusive services and I’m offered water/​tea/​neck pillow/​scented foot scrub to make sure that I totally indulge in my «sacred» time. After a long day at work, an hour at Bare Canvas always leaves me feeling refreshed & relaxed.
I also greatly appreciate that Carolyn is a strong advocate of providing her customers with a sanitary environment. She uses new disposable products on every client and thoroughly cleans her stations after every service she gives. After experiencing how a high quality spa service should be, I will never treat myself to anything less. For a truly satisfying spa experience, you should definitely make plans to visit Bare Canvas ASAP!

So although I’m a bit biased, I have to say that Bare Canvas is an excellent place to get your pampering done. Clean and airy, Carolyn puts her foot in it, no pun intended. You can get your nails, feet and waxing done in a one stop shop wonder.
Its all natural baby — no fungi roaming around this joint. Carolyn takes extra care in ensuring a clean and healthy environment for your body.
The scrubs are to die for and — she always has a nice cup of tea for me.
Now if she could only get an espresso machine — I would move in.
No waiting forever in a day because Carolyn is strictly by the book. That means if you have an appointment — you have an appointment. If you’re not on time though — that’s on you.
