Chicken kabobs are juicy and flavorful. Pita bread is soft and warm. The humus is wonderful. The yellow rice that’s flavored and seasoned is soooo goooood! This review is for 1 item on the menu however I do plan on trying other items.

The missus and I decided to try this place on a whim since it’s not far from her office. She ordered the falafel plate while I got the lamb kabob. We also got a mint ice tea and an order of baklava. Returning to her office to eat, the presentation looked fine, however once we started eating it kinda tanked. The missus requested her dish for a medium amount of spice, but even to my flat, American palate it was definently lacking flavor. The falafel was dry and bland, the saffron rice was very mild, and salad was a bit anemic looking and tasting. She ended up not finishing it(amazing because she’s a good eater). My lamb was okay. It was a bit tough in some bites, not really seasoned, and tasted more like beef than lamb. It came with rice, which again was mild. The hummus was neutral. I ate it but wasn’t wowed by it. The baklava and tea were tasty at least. The food came out fast, but we were the only people in there at the time. Overall, it was all just a bit underwhelming, especially for a $ 30 lunch.

My cousin and I went to this place for the 1st time rather by accident last week. I’ve appreciated Mediterranean food since I was in college, but I haven’t had it as good as this in many years. In an area with much overpriced, chain, or vegi-crazy restaurants, this family operation is a true find. To be honest, I can only write about the lamb and chicken kebabs, the hummus, salads, baklava, and Turkish coffee. All were as good as I’ve ever had, or, as in the case of the baklava and coffee, the best I’ve ever had. The food is not cheap, but it’s fair for what one receives — especially when compared to the competition. The portions are generous and, as I’ve mentioned, the taste is just superb. The are a few tables on the sidewalk. If you love eating outside in good weather as I do, then this is the place to come for lunch. My only disappointment with Adam’s is that it is closed on Saturdays.

Ordered a falafel platter. 75% rice. about 6 falafels, taste ok. But this is just chickpeas. Oh and there was some lettuce too. And for this I paid $ 12??? If it was priced around $ 4 – 5 I’d feel ok about it. But still wouldn’t order it again. In edit I had to bump it up a star. I did in fact eat the whole thing so it must have had some redeeming quality.

Best Mediterranean food in Oakland. They cater to all of my special requests on dishes. Best hummus in the east bay, hands down. Service is always speedy and w a smile.

Checking out an apartment in this area and decided to grab a bite while I wait and very thankful that my girlfriend and I came here! I had the spicy beef wrap and it was amazing. My girlfriend ordered the chicken kabob and she loved it.

My 9 year old son’s unsolicited comment after taking one bite of his miniature, stale, overpriced($ 3.29) baklava after taking one bite and spitting it out: «what a ripoff!» I gave him permission to spit it out after seeing the look of disgust on his face. I inspected the item and was shocked it was sold in good faith. My son has become a bit of a baklava aficionado lately so we stopped info Adam’s this eve, on a lark, to get him a dessert treat. Our first complete strike out since his new trend craving. I loathe being moved to give a bad review, but the rudeness of the young man that helped us today gave me all the impetus I needed. Thanks! FYI: Paid $ 1.25 the other day for a much bigger, fresher, and scrumptious(beautifully flaky) baklava at Oasis on telegraph ave last week — guess I owe them a +review!

The short: typical lamb shwarma I wanted something with a Mediterranean flair, so I ventured here. There’s not something amazing about the wraps. The lamb shwarma, which I ordered, was okay. I felt that it was lacking a spice and didn’t justify the price, nor the claim that somebody said it was the best wrap ever. When I opened the wrap, it was a lot smaller than I was expecting and way messier than shwarmas that i usually order. This is one of those order-at-the-counter and wait for the order type of place. Plus side? The order comes out pretty fast and there are lots of places to sit.

It’s right around the corner from my dentist, something I’ve known for months now, but since I go see her first thing in the morning, I was never around when this place was open, at least until I had a lunch-hour appointment with the hygienist from hell. Before racing back to work in the city, I decided to give this place a try even though there wasn’t a single customer. It was closing in on 2PM, so I assumed I beat whatever rush they may have had. I made my order and sat by myself in the long corridor next door which served as their dining room(photo: ). Even with my smartphone, it was kinda getting lonely in there. I decided to have the $ 13.99 Lamb Kufta Kabob Plate since it came with all the necessary accessories — fresh hummus, pita wedges, rice, some mixed greens with cucumbers and a splooge of some kind of pesto-type sauce over the lamb(photo: ). I have to admit I was a bit bummed that the lamb was overcooked, tough as a matter of fact. The rest of the plate was fine, but I couldn’t get over that initial disappointment. Still thee are way too many appetizing choices on their menu to dismiss this place completely. A mezza platter, a lamb burger or even chocolate baklava could have suited me nicely after plaque removal. FOOD — 3 stars… a full plate but tough pieces of ground lamb laid at its center AMBIANCE — 3 stars… a bit like a dark hallway but hey, here comes a couple of guys(photo: ) SERVICE — 3 stars… very quiet TOTAL — 3 stars… if I get a cleaning appointment in the afternoon, well…

I’m stoked to have found this place! This is by far the best falafel wrap I’ve had in years(and I get them often). There are so many variations when it comes to falafel, and your preference probably depends upon what you grew up tasting. When it comes to my taste buds, they’ll be getting their cravings satisfied here from now on!

I got the beef shawarma wrap(spicy) which was tasty but not at all spicy. Unfortunately, Adam’s is very overpriced in comparison to other places in the area. There are so many delicious options under 10 $ that I didn’t find this was good enough to warrant going back. The reviews here are great though so maybe I hit it on an off day. I’d suggest the beef shawarma if you aren’t price conscious and want something good, not amazing, but solidly good.

Just ordered a veg sandwich and 2 small items from the platter. Total came out to $ 19. I guess they changed they prices as he was adding a few dollars to each item looking off of a computer screen. He mumbled that that they made some changes, but I could barely make it out. I’m sure it’s illegal to not post prices and charge customers that way. That’s way too costly for the food I got. It was tasty but no different than other spots I’ve tried med food. The sandwich bread was slightly burnt and tasted like it. It smelled like a bathroom too and the owner was asking for an air freshener and he begin to spray it around. Not cool since I have asthma and chemicals trigger it. I work right around the corner and won’t be back here.

Tried a wrap here. Was a little confused because there’s a Unilocal coupon for 10% off $ 10 so I showed the guy and he said«oh this isn’t valid until 4 p.m. when we are slow». Later I looked to unlock and didn’t see anything about it. Oh well. Got the lamb with falafel. Falafel is really good and I would go back and do a falafel wrap. The ingredients were a little different than other places. Had various sauces and also pickles. I liked the wrap, it was chewy and grilled. Good option if you want some good Med food.

Delicious and wonderful top-of-the-chart customer service — 5 stars well deserved! I came in on the afternoon before my classes and Adams seemed like a pretty good option from the reviews. I ended up getting a wrap(mildly spicy beef) and it was absolutely delicious, flavorful, not oily as many shawarma joints tend to be and the portion was huge. Had to get the other half of my shawarma to go in a box so I can eat after class for dinner and it’s so nice when you know you have delicious left overs on you. More than anything, the guy that works there is so sweet as is the woman who cooks behind the counter. You can definitely tell that this is such a nice family running their business and the way they treat customers is like family. I will definitely be coming back, ya’ll have such great vibes and delicious food — who wouldn’t want that?! Cheers :)

I’ve been craving middle eastern food and this place really hits the spot! The food here is really well flavored and just downright delicious. It definitely seems a little pricey, but for the portions and quality of food you get, it’s totally worth it. I was only ¼ way through my schwarma wrap and ¼ way through my fries before I was so full I couldn’t eat another bite. I ordered 1. Chicken Schwarma Wrap: The chicken was a little overcooked and not as tender as I would have liked, but overall it was delicious. The chicken was well flavored, the vegetables were crisp and fresh and the wrap was not too thick. A note though is that the wrap is definitely a messy dish to eat. As I unwrapped it, sauce had soaked through the paper wrapping and it dripped everywhere while I ate, so definitely not a grab and go type of food. The sauce was DELISH though! 2. The Sucan fries were really good too — they were thick cut, crispy on the outside and soft and hearty on the inside. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really taste the spices, they just tasted like really good fries to me. Maybe skip the $ 1 add on and just get the regular fries here. 3. My friend ordered the chicken schwarma platter and really enjoyed it. The rice is very fragrant and I would even say that if you are trying to decide between a platter and a wrap, go for the platter. Almost everything is the same, but you get their super delicious rice and an amazingly creamy and yummy tahini sauce with pita bread, all in all I loved my experience at Adam’s and will definitely be back for more of that delicious schwarma.

I don’t know what’s up here. They used to be good but on my recent visit they were seriously off their game. At the weekday noon hour in Uptown, it was deserted. The guy at the counter seemed put out that I even walked in the door. The first two items I asked for, he said they didn’t have. Finally I settled on some kind of savory pastry… and watched with my heart sinking as he pulled them out of the case and plopped them in the microwave. They didn’t survive unscathed. I sat at my table(almost alone in their sizable dining room!) reading a book for maybe twenty minutes, unable to finish my unappetizing food, at which point the guy came over and basically gave me the«time to wrap this up and leave» vibe. Because, y’know, twenty minutes is way too long to loiter over your lunch. I obliged. Clearly they did not want to engage in the business of serving lunch that day. Weird…

This is a pretty good option for Mediterranean food for the lunch crowd and general public. I usually get the chicken kebab plate or one of the various wraps but this time chose to get the chicken schwarma platter. The platter comes with salad, rice and chicken schwarma. Everything about the platter was good except for the sauce that they put on top which was like a pesto but it was too tart for my tastes. It threw the entire dish off and all I wanted to do was brush it to the side. I know from now on just to stick with the wrap or kebabs. This place has friendly service and is always clean. Prices are decent with the platters being over $ 10.00 but wraps are less.

Outstanding. Great food, sweet kind folks, clean place. I absolutely love how they wrap the food to go in paper before alum foil, it is so much healthier. I didn’t even have to ask. They made me feel real comfortable there too, very gracious and accommodating, I got my order to go, but then ate it there, it smelled too good to wait. And delicious it was! The wrap I had was fabulous and fresh. I don’t eat a lot of meat and am always nervous about trying it at a new place. The gentleman told me the the chicken wrap was very popular, and I needed some protein so I went for it. Incredibly delicious. There was this curry kinda sauce that was so so good. I asked for medium spicy and it was spot on. I am so stoked I found this place. Going back soon for sure. You people Rock!

Clean, Clean Clean! That’s right…3 cleans… Clean #1 — the restaurant is very clean from the moment you step in and order at the counter to the time you leave. All the tables were clean and wiped down… floors are in great shape. The décor is dark wood, it feels more like a French Café then something from the Med. Clean #2 — the food. I ordered the Lamb Kaboob plate for lunch($ 11.00). You get a huge helping of saffron rice, 2 sticks, a generous helping of fresh humus and 2 pieces of still warm pita. Lets say I did not find anything I did not like… the lamb was tender and juicy… talking to owner(I think)…the secret is his mom is a good cook. If I have to complain about anything about the food. the rice was bit salty… but not very much at all. Clean #3 — the Restroom. This is a single coed restroom featuring only a throne. The floors were not wet and well maintained. Soap and paper towels were stocked. I would have like to have seen a trash can closer to the door. Oh — the only negative is that the door sticks a bit and requires a hard push from the inside or a strong pull from the outside.

Adam’s is amazing! I traveled to Adam’s today with a colleague to meet my friend for lunch. I told my friend, Simon, he would love it, return without me and also bring many friends in the future. He replied. «Well, alright, show me the best Mediterranean in downtown Oakland.» I love a challenge… We arrive and are warmly greeted as we enter. Everything looks fresh and delicious. There are desserts on the counter just waiting to be eaten! We place our order: Cucumber salad with pita to start Spicy falafel wrap Schwarma spicy lamb wrap Schwarma lamb platter We grab our drinks and a table and wait… I am sooo hungry! A service professional delivers the cucumber salad with fresh, hot, delicious pita. We indulge, rapidly I might add. It was so fresh. Small bits of cucumber, onion, tomato on olive oil and cilantro to spice it up. Next, our main course arrives. My spicy falafel was to die for! The portions are so huge I can never finish. I think I have been visiting Adam’s for over a year and have NEVER finished my food. Simon said his Schwarma Lamb Platter was amazing. It was replete with saffron rice, massive lamb pieces, all drizzled in a curious sauce that I WISH I could replicate in my own kitchen. My friend had Lamb Schwarma as well, but his was in a wrap with a spicy sauce. He smashed it!!! Simon and I had to carry ours home. Finally, the dessert arrives. The best kunafa with sheep cheese!!! We had two orders it is so amazing. The kunafa is lightly sprinkled with pistachio and a wonderful topping made with orange blossom flavor. Yummiiiieeee!!! I asked Simon if I met the Mediterranean challenge?(We did spend a summer in Israel together a few years ago searching for the best Schwarma in Jerusalem…) He sweetly agreed ;) The service is really great. Really personable employees and really fast and courteous attention to guests. The only reason I take away one star is because it is not very handicap accessible, at least not easily handicap accessible. I had a really tough time with my knee scooter in my temporary condition. Once I was inside though, it was fine. The doorway is just difficult to negotiate if you’re not 100%. Stephani Smiles for Adam’s ;)
