Tokyo Sushi has not closed, but it has changed its name to Geisha Lounge. Most of my favorite menu items from the Tokyo Sushi days are on the new Geisha Lounge menu. See my just-posted review of Geisha Lounge for more details!

My husband and I come here a lot for the awesome and unique sushi rolls. Our favorites include the crunchy tuna, Beatriz(made with chicken, cream cheese and avocado) and the spicy conch. The hibachi entrees are pretty good too. The service is always great. One day we ordered four plates of sushi between the two of us so they prepared it for us on a beautiful boat. The only thing I didn’t care for is the appetizers but we usually just go for the sushi anyway.

A lot of sushi places around Fort Lauderdale and Tokyo is my favorite. Always very fresh and well made. My favorite rolls are the Yum Yum, Dragon, Miami, volcanoe. Wow, they are all just so good. And if you don’t like sushi their other dishes are good too. The teriyaki chicken and beef and the noodle dishes.

I enjoy the food here. My favorites are between the Miami heat and the sky roll. I also get the salmon and it usually comes fresh. I like the tempura shrimp and chicken. The service is decent most days. Come for happy hour for special discounts

My friends and I go here almost once a week. Claire our server is always cheerful and accommodating. The sushi is excellent. The ingredients are fresh and the presentation is always very nice. We usually go for lunch and get the lunch special For $ 10 you get 2 and a half rolls with either a side of soup or salad. The Miso soup is delicious and the salad dressing is home made. They also have some fantastic happy hour specials. You simply MUST try this place. Not a sushi bar for a sushi snob though. If your a working class person who enjoys fresh sushi without having to pay absurd prices this place is for you!

Food was not bed, but seemed to go downhill as meal went on. Tiger roll was bestn part of meal. Lobster roll was not impressive and not worth the price. Seafood combo dinner was ok. Scallops were not sea scallops as advertises but tiny bay scallops. Lobster was so overcooked and rubbery. Shrimps were overcooked and rubbery too. Sad. There were not many veggies in my dish either. We had a coupon and waitress was rude by saying we had to order certain amount ton use it and she did not think our table of 2 could do it. Rude. She was so rude throughout the meal by comment in on the amount we did or did not order. We will probably not go back.

The food here is amazing. Nice casual atmosphere and the service was great. Highly recommend this place for a quick reasonable bite to eat. Below is a link to a video review I did on this place. I started off with their Miso Soup, had their signature Miami Heat Roll, and ended with a delicious sweet Casava Cake. Absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. I also recommend having their Tempura Cheesecake.

*ATTENTION!!!* THISIS A NOT A BOOKTHATYOUSHOULDJUDGEBYIT’S COVER! Fabulous server, mouth watering sushi, and a relaxing ambiance that will instantly put you at ease when you enter. The Miami roll and sky roll definitely live up to the hype. I also had a fried jalapeño stuffed with tuna and cream cheese. it’s not on the menu so ask! For desert we had a warm cassava cake, presentation was amazing and the cake was out of this world! South Florida has it’s fair share of sushi places and Tokyo is definitely a visit. Good portions and prices i will be back!

This place is great. I believe I am joining all other patrons here when I say the heat roll and sky roll are the most popular by far. All rolls made to order and very much fulfilling. Great for groups, intimate settings, etc.

I have driven by many, many times, observing the drive-thru sign and wondering, wow, drive-thru sushi … and today, for lunch, I finally gave it a try(.not the drive thru because the mic doesn’t work… haha). Once inside, I was pleased and impressed. Simple, clean, and modern Japanese décor in the dining room and at the sushi bar. Nice sake selection and a cucumber soda that I didn’t try but caught my eye. I found out that Sun-Thurs they now offer an all day happy hour menu with rolls, fired rice, appetizers, and more. Today was Friday so no happy hour deal. I ordered the Wakame Salad(seaweed), the Spicy Tuna roll, and Fania Five Roll consisting of eel, tempura shrimp, mango, fish egg, and avocado. For $ 20, my take-out order was ready to go in about 10 minutes. The rolls were fresh and tasty, and I would stop in again to grab a quick lunch and try out some more of the goodies on this menu. Nothing fancy, not a favorite, but fresh and convenient if you’re in the area.

Tokyo is, and one might guess from the name, a Japanese restaurant and fast food drive through, basically sushi, but also serving up other dishes but all based upon a Japanese culinary theme. I haven’t gone through their drive through but I have gone into and eaten inside of the restaurant area. The décor is a simplistic Japanese, spotlessly clean with a counter type sushi bar, dining tables and a small pool with gold fish swimming about. The service is typical Japanese being that it is ever so polite, mannerly and accommodatingly friendly. As for the food itself, Tokyo would probably rate five stars in a place like Purgetsville, West Virginia, but here in Fort Lauderdale they are not only up against some really tough competition but plenty of it. The presentation of their food is outstanding in appearance though some of it, such as the decorative green onion stem stuck in my wasabi paste or the paper thin slice of orange, of little practical or edible sense. I started off with the ceviche trio($ 10.95) consisting of three different kinds of fish served sliced on an open platter seemingly having been ever so slightly been in a marinade, totally different than the Peruvian or other ceviche dishes found locally. Though good enough, I found the marinade or whatever may have been used in converting the sliced fish from what would have been a sashimi into a ceviche distracting both in flavor and taste; failing to enhance the dish in any manner. I also had their soft shell crab roll which contained amongst other ingredients the meat of the crab along with avocado in a typical rice roll with tiny dollops of what I might assume to be a variation on a ponzu. The portion was huge, also rather pricey but soft shells are costly, of good quality, flavor and taste. In finality, though I liked their food and the restaurant, there are better choices, so I can’t in honesty say that Tokyo makes it to the«I’m a fan of it» list.

Had dinner last night with friends… WOW. The most amazing sushi. Where has this place been! Our waiter was delightful and had us in great spirits. The food was the best part. A must try, the JB Roll and the Miami Heat Roll. I recommend asking them to bring a couple rolls at a time as the table can get full quick with 4 people eating. The ambiance was perfect. I can’t wait to return!

So far my boyfriend and I are happy with all the different kinds of sushi we’ve tried here. We come here for nothing else. So far the miami heat roll is our favorite. I highly recommend it, especially for the anti raw fish sushi lovers. I also tried the marlins roll, sky roll, and crunchy roll. All were awesome! Nice environment and friendly staff. Give this place a try. It’s also cheaper during happy hour! :)

Excellent sushi at average prices(check out happy hour for excellent prices). Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Miami Heat roll was delicious, creative, fresh, and different as it was served warm. The flavor was A+, as well as the presentation($ 12, but only $ 9 at happy hour). It was much larger than the Black Jack. I should have only ordered one roll, as I needed to be rolled out to the parking lot after eating both. The restaurant has decent Asian décor; although, it is not fancy, it is very clean and organized. I will be back!

Tried this place for lunch, it was very good. The killer was the price, half off between 11:30 — 1:30. Not sure if it was a promotion, but I had leftovers and paid less than $ 20. The sushi quality and variety was good. Décor seemed a little dated, but it has a good local feel to it. Would recommend for lunch or take out.

We have lived here for almost 20 years and tried Tokyo Sushi at it’s other location and were not impressed. When we learned they had moved to a new location we thought we would give them another try. I will admit I was surprised by the location. It’s a doomed retail space. Nothing that opens lasts more than a year. You would think being located down the street the owners would know that but… perhaps they felt their loyal clientele would follow. First off, it’s a lot cleaner than the last spot. Secondly, the service is very friendly. It teeters on almost«too friendly» for South Florida. Being that we are the 6th burrough of NY we tend to be a bit stand offish. We had a bottle of sake. Although offered a nice bottle of wine, I did not see one on the menu(perhaps they would drive to Publix to get one) so we settled on a good bottle of sake. We started with the gyoza and tuna tartar caviar and they were both good. The rolls are giant. You definitely only need one. I had the Amerian Dream roll which I enjoyed very much. A friend had the Sky Roll. Note: Don’t be surprised if you see the Sky Roll recommended a lot here. It’s their #1 recommended roll and my friend did enjoy it very much. My other friend had the Pacifica roll which she liked as well. All in all we were pleasantly surprised. I think the new location is a definite upgrade. I hope they last over a year and defy the location curse.

Great service, excellent sushi and amazing prices. This place won’t be a secret for long. Try the Sky roll its different than the traditional sushi out there but very fresh and tasty. The service was also excellent.
