I don’t know why I keep trying this place thinking things have to improve over the years — they just don’t. Sure, the food is the same as any other IHOP, but the service is horrendous. Every single time you come in, there is a wait, even when there are clearly tables open. Then, you are seated and wait an eternity to place your order and another eternity to get your food. Seriously, the kitchen is making so much noise, but there are no orders coming out — what are they doing, playing music back there? In our 70 minute stay in this place, we spent about 6 minutes actually eating and the rest waiting in some capacity.

Great customer service! I’m not a big fan of IHOP but visit on occasion for the kids. This IHOP is smaller than most I visit. The staff and server did a fine job explaining the bargains on the menu. Also, he provided a great suggestion which gave us more food for our money on a particular entrée. My only issue was the behavior of one male employee(not our server) towards his female co-worker(server). The male was upset about something since he continually spouted out«F-bombs» towards his female co-worker. He seemed polite with customers while he served them, but displayed no regard to customers overhearing his rant and discontent with his female co-worker. My children were sitting close by.

My best friend and I had the pleasure of dining here this morning. I’ve been to this location several times and pretty much always received good food and good service. Today was exceptionally great. Our waitress, Morgan, was very attentive and personable. Even when she had to step out she made sure that someone came over to check on us from time to time. She gave us ample time to look over the menu and our food was brought out hot and fresh without a long wait time. She gave us recommendations on what to order which turned out to be very tasty. Service like this is the reason I keep coming back.

I read the other blistering reviews and was hesitant to go here. However, my experience was very good. The restaurant was filled at 11am, but we(two seniors) were quickly seated. Our waiter, Edgar/Eddie, couldn’t have been nicer. Attentive, polite and friendly. The food was good. My friend had the turkey dinner and I had the 2×2×2 breakfast. On the way out, my friend commented«that was certainly a good lunch» and it was.

Ever want to go to a place, get on the wait list to be seated and have them forget you, and then try to put you back on the wait list at the bottom? I’m serious Go to this IHOP, if you want to be in the eternal waitlist and have them seat people who walk in the door after you, and then try to put you at the bottom of the list after waiting 25 minutes. This employee ‘Danny’ I put quote marks because when asked for his name, he couldn’t remember that either… We left and went to Mom’s in Forest Park, we were able to sit down and probably got much better service there. We will NEVER go back to this IHOP, and they have a For Sale sign in front of the place. Maybe they should just replace all the staff, and they might not have to sell…

Why did I even stop in here? Ah, yes, I had a taste for bananas and french toast. Nothing else is open. And so, I had the pleasurable experience of having a waiter who appears to be a 20 year old man, who was in training. This clearly is not the line of work he should be in. He took my order wrong. Didn’t bring what I asked back to the table. Totally doesn’t know the menu. Can’t keep up with his tables. Is putting in others orders wrong. The manager is livid with him and I wish he understood the stuff she is saying about him in Spanish; it’s absolutely hilarious. Well not really, but, whatever. I really want to pat him on the shoulder, with a sympathetic nod and be like«Bruh, don’t come back,» but he has to be working here to save for a car or something. Idk. Food was MEH!!! VERYMEH! Almost blah. Perhaps I’ll just stick to Dennys. Perhaps. Let me go pay my check.

I only gave one stars because the food was ok but the service is definitely due for improvement. We received our food and had no utensils or napkins. I had to ask a server who was NOT our server for forks. Midway through my meal a different waitress comes and asks for 3 different flavored syrups from our table saying she was going to refill them and bring them right back. She NEVER did. Pancakes were cold by the time our original waitress came by to see if we needed anything and to drop the check off. She never returned. Had to take it to the front desk to pay. Never again! I’d rather go to Denny’s !

I only came here because I was thinking since its Oak Park and IHOP then it’s got to be nice, right? Well… the answer is no, but it’s actually not bad. I read the other reviews and this place gets some pretty much bad mumbo jumbo, but I am giving them 3 stars. This place is not 24 hours like the past reviews said they were. I think they open at 6 am now. I was the first one here which was an hour after they opened. I can see why they did have security here since it is right next to Austin which has a high crime rate. Oak Park/River Forest can be funny with safe and ritzy places and some places sort of sketchy. I know the past reviews were bad for this place, but I am giving these guys a benefit of the doubt. Service was quick, waitress was nice, and food was good. The Melrose Park IHOP is 24 hours and only 5 to 10 minutes away on North Ave. And they seem to have great reviews.

This is by far the WORST establishment that I’ve ever been to. The heat doesn’t work. The employees were rude. My son asked where the bathroom was and the waitress just pointed. She literally pointed and didn’t speak. They moved us to a table where the whole right side of the room smelled like a baby’s diaper… But there were no babies around! We had to move tables bc the smell is unbearable. Then we noticed that they were putting the food in the microwave. I could’ve microwaved food at home! I very rarely leave a restaurant, but I actually got up and left. Until they shut this place down and remodel and make it bigger and better, then I won’t be back.

So I suppose its my own fault for coming in here this early in morning but the atmosphere in this place is so jacked up! The only reason they got 1 star was because the food was actually hot. But it took nearly an hour to make 2 omelets and a cheese steak… and they got a security guard in here more concerned with looking like Chris Tucker than actually securing us as we eat our meal. Loud ghetto patrons cursing and yelling on verge of a fight for the rest of us to witness. like the conceal and carry law doesn’t play super factor in here. Ive never seen security in an IHOP establishment so that should have been warning sign. Our waiter was too busy watching fight escalade to even check on why food took an hour and we were the only other set of people in here before the rest of club goers got here… and he forgot my best friends soup, my omelet missing hash browns… didnt have silverware then have the audacity to want a tip so here it is… FINDANOTHERJOB… DONTCOMETOTHISPLACE!!! ITSGARBAGE!

And so marks the last time I go to an IHOP at 2am in the morning. International House of Pancakes? More like International House of Impatiently Waiting. I commend this place for being open 24 hours, and I fully understand/expect that from about midnight until 6am, they’re running their B-game. Unfortunately, this location was running their Q-game…which for those of you counting, is like fifteen steps below what it should be. There appeared to be two servers, one of whom was clearly a greenhorn(major n00b), the other came by twice to take our order and drop off our food. And then pulled a Harry Houdini and freakin vanished. For nearly half an hour. When she finally returned, she kept her back to us the entire time(intentional or not), which meant flagging her down was way harder than it should’ve been. Other customers were less subtle, offering up the good ol’ «exCUSE me, can we get some help please?», and even that didn’t get their attention. Sheesh. On a side note, the food was fine. Eggs sunny-side, hash browns, crispy bacon… damn near impossible to mess up, which they didn’t. But the horrendous service is inexcusable. And I’m very easygoing when it comes to waitstaff, but this was one of the worst examples that comes to mind. It was downright sh*tty. On a second side note, I hate having to add a tip at the register because they can see exactly how much you’re leaving, which is awkward as hell(and believe me, she was lucky to get $ 3 on a $ 25 bill, for reals).

Ugh, I guess I can’t give it zero stars. I refuse to waste anymore time on this place. I’ll keep it short. EASILY the worst breakfast restaurant I’ve ever been to. Staff, taste, price, EVERYTHING was absolute garbage. How long until Corporate sees these reviews and shuts this dump down? I’d rather drive by and see a vacant building. I’m glad my daughter is only 2 so she won’t remember this experience. The trauma behind her uncooked pancakes and grease boiled bacon would be unrecoverable. ATTENTIONIHOPSTAFF: Start looking for a new job(but not in food service).

Horrible horrible iHop. The server was not just awful but extremely RUDE. My food came out to me cold. She never introduced herself. Never came to check on me and my guest. Didn’t even bring us our check we had to hunt her down to find her. Never once smiled. I overheard her talk to other guests even more rude to them than us. Just her tone was awful. I haven’t even left the parking lot before writing this review because it was so awful. My receipt says that the servers name was Jessie 2. The other servers looked at least like they smiled to their guests but my server was just the worst.

Horrible horrible horrible This is the worst IHOP place ever!!! Had a coupon for this particular IHOP and they tried to tell me it’s not valid there. First off it had the address for where it’s valid– don’t try to scam me it had YOURADDRESS. Also bad service, waited over an hour at our table for just drinks. Got our food cold and there was a hair in my pancakes! So gross. Don’t eat at this one unless you’re asking for dysentery! Horrible horrible horrible!

I hate to review a big chain like this, but this particular IHOP was very poor. We ate here while waiting for our car(had brakes installed). They have their kitchen open for viewing, so you could see the cooks put food on the warmers, then it would sit for a while, and the server would throw it in the microwave before taking it out to the tables. The service was odd; our waiter was weird. The machine wouldn’t take our credit card, so we had to write a check. The place was really dirty.
