This is a community ballpark just to the east of the Independence/Blue Springs metro sprawl, located in a small town better known for its big truck stop right off of I-70. A lot of west-central Missouri youth baseball teams play in tourneys here. The park has four baseball diamonds of varying sizes and a couple of softball diamonds; we didn’t find the fields to be in great shape, though. Only one has a grass infield; the other three are dust bowls. Also, the grounds crew didn’t seem to know what they were doing. They had our field set up on junior-sized 84′ base paths, and when our coach kept telling them that the field didn’t look right, they insisted it had been measured. We played an inning before Coach finally prevailed & got a re-measurement, and sure enough, they were short. So we had to wait around while they moved the bases to the 90′ slots. So much for insisting they had measured. Parking is pretty limited & can be an absolute zoo on a tourney day.
