The Buttercup Cottage is in a beautiful area, however, I do NOT recommend this place for your wedding. The following information is from my own personal experience of my wedding that was held at the Buttercup Cottage. We booked the residence in May and had the wedding in October of the same year. Things to keep in mind: –The Buttercup Cottage is a residence and not a typical event venue. –Everything is paid for with Banker Cashier’s checks. She does not accept credit/debit cards, personal checks, etc. Basically, everything is paid for«under the table.» –The homeowner, Linda, is also the«wedding coordinator.» See below as to why this is in quotations. She is a NIGHTMARE! –You will not get to make your own timeline for your wedding. The timeline she has is in the contract and begins at 4:30pm for the ceremony and reception ends«promptly» at 10:00pm. Appetizers are from 5:00pm-6:00pm Buffet style dinner 6:00pm Cake/dessert 8:00pm –All of the bridal party’s belongings will need to be out of the«bridal suite»(aka the master bedroom) BY8:30pm. I didn’t think this would be a problem when I was told about it, but it was a real pain to leave the wedding to clean and find a place/car to put everything in– During my wedding. –You must provide your own Homeowner’s Insurance on her property to the amount of $ 1,000,000(yes, 1 million dollars) for the entire weekend. Our wedding was on Saturday so we needed the insurance from Friday beginning at midnight through Sunday night ending at 11:59pm(3 total days). –Not a handicap friendly venue/residence and not friendly for elderly people. My Grandparents had a very difficult time walking around the residence. –The«Staff» at the Buttercup Cottage, for our wedding, were 6 people with a wide range of ages. I would estimate that one of the girls was probably about 13 – 15 years old and the oldest was probably in his late 50’s early 60’s. I believe that they are family members or close friends, but this was not actually confirmed. Except for one older gentleman, they were also very rude. –Only beer and wine(including champagne) can be served as long as it’s served by an ABC California State Licensed bartender whom also carries their own liability insurance. This is not the same as a certificate for bartending earned at a school. It is the legit CA state license and is very hard to find on a budget. –The BBQ catering will be from Famous Dave’s and will be served in the«to-go» disposable tin-wear that Famous Dave’s delivers the food in. She does not use chafing dishes to serve the food, nor does she put the food in appealing serving dishes. I will add more details later, but save yourself and your wedding from this place!!! It is a nightmare!!!

I recently got married at Buttercup Cottage, it was absolutely beautiful there. Linda was easy to work with and very responsive. She lets you stop by the venue any time you want to bring vendors by, the check out her décor, to talk to her about details. This venue is inexpensive, compared to all the other venues in Southern California. You can use the bridal suite to get ready in, which is so adorable. Linda lets you use all of her cute vintage décor for your wedding, as long as you set it out and put it back in her garage at the end of the night. I loved the décor she had! It was perfect for the look I was going for. Linda lets you decorate the venue any way you want. There are lots of great places for photo opportunities, like a tree house, a tree swing, the beautiful white gazebo, the countryside view. The bridal party and family can use the inside bathroom of her house, but all the guests only have one bathroom outside to share. I was concerned about this considering I had 150 people at my wedding, but the line wasn’t ever more than 5 people long, so not that bad! I am very happy I chose this venue for my wedding day. I had the wedding of my dreams and Buttercup Cottage helped make that happen!

I am writing this review as a vendor, not a bride. I was lucky enough to photograph a wedding at this amazing venue and just and to share what a great place it is! Buttercup Cottage is an ADORABLE outdoor wedding venue in the beautiful hills of Oak Glen. The colors in the Fall are just unreal! The property provides a gorgeous outdoor setting with a gazebo for ceremonies and a lovely patio area for receptions. Linda and her family are the most wonderful people and they go absolutely above and beyond to make all of the little touches so special! The bridal room is just lovely with beautiful afternoon light from the wraparound windows and an antique vanity which makes for great bridal«getting ready» photos. Throughout the property are little sitting areas with cute rustic décor, lawn games to keep your guests entertained, a S’mores bar with a fire pit in the evening, and the most amazing Hansel & Gretel style treehouse for taking photos. The incredible sweeping views of the hills and orchards, especially at sunset, are just amazing. Linda and her staff were so caring and accommodating, and were just a delight to work with from a vendor’s perspective. I can’t wait to go back!
