Allen Edmonds

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary this year and since he has been talking highly about AE shoes, I wanted to gift him a pair for our anniversary. We went to the store some days ago around 7.15 p.m. (store closes at 8 p.m.). There was one saleslady and a couple looking at shoes. The saleslady greeted us after 10 mins of us walking around. We patiently stood waiting for her to finish attending the other couple and understood she was alone. It was 40 minutes of just walking around, not being asked absolutely anything and totally ignored. We got tired and walked out. Even at that point the saleslady failed to acknowledge us! We were extremely disappointed with the kind of service of a highly reputed company! My husband called back the store right away to let her know we were disappointed and the saleslady was even more rude — she just hung up on us! My husband is so turned off by this whole experience and find its hard to believe the post-​purchase service will be any good! It truly is very disappointing and not something expected out of a brand like AE!

Superb service and decent selection. Over the past several years they have added clothing and other accessories; not sure why. I do not see myself coming into an AE store to buy a $ 500 sport jacket (styles are somewhat dated).

The location on this place is great from the perspective that you do not have to walk into a mall. Just drive up to the parking lot and walk right in.
I bought my first pair of AEs last Sunday and only time will tell if it was worth spending twice as much as compared to a pair of Rockports. But you are definitely paying for higher quality, along with the fact that they are made in the USA. So when you factor in US costs for manufacturing, the prices make sense.
I am not a high roller and the AE employee did not make me feel out of place which is a plus.
I recommend coming in with a list (refer to AE website) of the models you would like to try as they will not have every model in stock.
All in all, it was good experience.

This is AE’s newest store hence the lack of reviews. Don’t worry though, as it’s typical Allen Edmonds: real-​world advice, knowledgeable employees, and a good selection! All of the usual shoes are available here but also a nice selection of shirts, ties, and other clothing. This isn’t a department store but you might be surprised at the «trad» vests and neckwear in addition to the assorted leather goods.
I have visited a few times to be measured, try things on, and place a special order. Each time I was greeted promptly and courteously, and the staff let me take my time as I looked around — they never pressured me or hassled me to try things on until I was ready. All my questions were answered with «real-​world» knowledge and not something memorized out of a training manual.
The staff were more than willing to bring out several different widths and styles to make sure I got the best fit possible. All too often men (and women) assume they’re some shoe size. The AE crew put my foot on the Brannock device and properly measured it, and then pulled an E width in a half size down. That was my third pair of Allen Edmonds shoes right there!
So…typical Allen Edmonds service and quality products. Nice to see them finally offer a location outside of downtown Chicago.
