I’m not from St. Louis, and STL-style pizza probably isn’t my first choice. That being said, I enjoy it every now and then. If you’re new to the area, like I once was, this style of pizza is made with a thin cracker-like crust and is cut into squares. Provel cheese commonly is used, and that’s what you’ll get at Imo’s. Many people seem to vehemently despise STL-style pizza. Some don’t like the crust. Some can’t stand the cheese. Some dislike everything about it. I like the crust. It’s so thin that you’re practically eating only toppings. Without a thick, doughy crust, think of all the calories you’re saving. It’s like health food, really. :p I have nothing against mozzarella, but I happen to like Provel as well. I blame it on my upbringing in Texas. We loved cheese dip made with Ro-Tel and Velveeta. It was at every get-together, and I was surprised to learn that it isn’t as popular here. Anyway, my mom moved to Missouri a couple of years ago and had expressed some interest in trying Imo’s. Today was the day. When we walked through the door, the first thing I noticed was the Pepsi soda fountain. My heart sank. Then I saw they had Diet Dr Pepper in the machine. The day was saved. This Imo’s has a fairly large seating area, including a sunroom. It looks like it might have been an Arby’s at some point. I thought it looked nicer than other Imo’s I’ve visited. There’s no table service here. You’ll order at the counter, and they’ll bring your food to the table. Be sure to grab plates and flatware near the soda fountain. We ordered one of their current specials: «Great Tastes of St. Louis.» It was plenty for the three of us. For $ 19.95(pre-tax), we received the following: –A 14″ pizza with two toppings We chose sausage and pepperoni. It was made in the style described above and was comparable to pizzas I’ve ordered from other locations. –Eight toasted ravioli and twelve Provel bites These two items were served in the same basket and were brought to our table first, as an appetizer. We received one cup of marinara sauce for dipping. The toasted ravioli were pretty good. I would have preferred them to have been crisper. The Provel bites, however, were nicely fried: crunchy on the outside and melt-y on the inside. I really enjoyed them. –Four«cinimos» When our ravioli and Provel bites had been brought to our table, the employee asked us if we would like our cinimos after our pizza. I said yes, and they were served right as we were finishing or meal. This meant they were still warm when we were ready to eat them. They were soft, stubby, cinnamon-glazed breadsticks, served with a small cup of icing for dipping.(The icing was not warm.) They provided just the right amount of sweetness at the end of our meal, but we probably didn’t need them. Side note: I ate the leftover icing with a fork AND licked the icing off of the lid. Judge me if you want. I don’t care. :p RATING I might not be native to St. Louis, but my husband and his family are. I’ve heard some Imo’s horror stories, so I tend to go to Imo’s with low expectations. For the following reasons, this location gets four stars from me: 1. The food was on par with the food I’ve had at other locations. 2. It was one of the nicer Imo’s I’ve visited. 3. The employees seemed friendly enough, and service was perfectly fine during our visit.

I would give this place 5 stars but… the service is TERRIBLE! The pizza is delicious, yes the crust is extremely thin and the XL pizza is around $ 20 for one topping pizza but the pizza is different. Not like the pizza in NY or Chicago or Southern Cali. I like pizza from all over and if you like pizza try this place if bad customer service doesn’t bother you. The pizza was ordered for dine in, they put tomatoes my pizza which I hate, pizza took 1 hr 10 mins to get ready. What? It’s extremely thin should only take a few mins to bake, but life is short do can’t dwell on little things like this. Pizza was still hot and delicious the employees there are the reason this place doesn’t get good reviews

The provel bites were delicious. This is a good cheese. The pizza was not quite as good as the appetiser. I mean… it was ok but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of choice of toppings so ended up just with jalapeño and It felt like it could have done with something more. I love jalapenos, but they perform better as part of a band than as a solo artist. Not Emos pizza despite the pronunciation. No side orders of angst or depression to be seen.

I ordered lunch for some coworkers and I. It never showed. After over an hour of waiting and lies when called to check on it, I found out that it was taken to a completely wrong address. When I talked to someone at the corporate office they said it would be passed to the manager but nothing happened. This company obviously does not value it’s customers. Cecil Whittakers is much better anyway.

Good toppings but basically on a cracker. If you like pizza, you may not like St. Louis style pizza…
